Makana Knives

I chanced on Dan while browsing the web, found a kindred «ohana» spirit who spent quality time in the Islands. Took every knife i had in the house, including an old butcher knife, used for cutting up large 200 lb Ahi in Hawaii, that had a ¼ inch chip out of the blade, he repaired the chip, sharpened the knife as well as the other 10 I had and they are all razor sharp. He has posted a video of the knives he did, showing the resulting edges.
I was so impressed with his quality, craftsmanship and professionalism, that I commissioned him to make me a custom chef’s knife. I had seen the art objects that he had created, both on-​line in pictures, as well as some that he had at his shop.
I told him that most of my 20 years of cherished memories in Hawaii, was on and under the ocean, riding sea turtles and fishing for mahi, Ahi and marlin and diving for lobster.
I left the details up to him, knowing that what he would produce would surely exceed my expectations. Well he didn’t disappoint, I will be posting photos of this culinary work of art, and these words don’t do it justice. Thanks Dan and God Bless!

We have had our knives sharpened many times through out the years but this is the first where they have been sharp like this. I recommend him for the best business in arizona way to go Dan Thanks Again.

Dan was the nicest guy! Conversed for about 5 Minutes and then he was right to work. By the time I came back (20 minutes later), my knives were neatly wrapped and packaged ready to go. He is passionate about what he does and it shows in his work. My knives are better than they were when I got them and my wife and I are ready for Thanksgiving! He also hand crafts his own line of knives which were beautiful. I’d like to buy them for myself and a friend who is a chef. He uses top of the line materials to ensure a great experience. Wow! Our knives are like brand new! The blades are so sharp that they easily slice through tomatoes, meat and more. Before getting our knives sharpened, we were thinking we’d need a new set soon. The sharpening has proved they have a lot of life left in them.
