The Canine Club and Spa opened in January of 2009 and has been caring for pets ever since.

Business Owner

Karen grew up with a passion for animals, from her family dogs to her horses. As her enthusiasm grew for animals her excitement for the pet industry grew as well. Karen has worked with animals her entire life. Beginning as a professional dog handler, Karen then began her entrepreneurship by starting a dog grooming business. After becoming successful with her first business, she created her first endeavor, The Hound Dog Pet Hotel. With that success, Karen had found her true niche and went on to create The Canine Club and Spa. Karen is devoted to bringing new and innovative ideas to the community and is happy to provide a loving, caring facility for your pets and peace of mind for you. Active in the pet community, Karen and The Canine Club and Spa strive to be a driving force in the rescue and care of pets. The Canine Club and Spa is happy to give back to the community through charity and events.

I have been bring my 70-​lb chocolate labradoodle here for 5 years. He loves it, if they had a drive thru, I wouldn’t even have to go in. He’s so excited that he runs through both doors and behind the desk to get to the front desk gals! If he sees the building when I turn the corner he will bark or whine to let me know that this is where I turn in. I think the employees here have huge hearts and big love for dogs.
We use the daycare program often and leave Cody here once a month when we go to horse shows. He comes home happy and tired.
Has there been a problem with the owner, yes, has it been addressed yes.

On my dogs first visit, he jumped the perimeter fence and was loose for over an hour. By the grace of god, he only suffered abraded pads on three of his paws and right sided shoulder and hip soreness. Explanations from the owner and staff ranged from «a garbage can blew over and he launched himself over the fence», «we have a toy box by the fence, you didn’t tell us he was a jumper» to (my personal favorite) «He CHOSE to leave». For point of reference, my dog is 25lbs. At this point, the owner has refused to accept responsibility for his vet bills stating that she is not responsible for his injuries because he was not on their property when his injuries occurred. I would not recommend them for daycare or boarding. I cannot speak to grooming or vet services next door. I will update as the situation evolves, but feel this was too egregious of a situation to not inform other potential boarders.

I have two labs who get quite spoiled by me, truth be told. Well, they certainly got even more spoiled this past weekend when I took them to the Canine Club And Spa for a night. My fiancé and I had plans that were going to keep us downtown all day, and we didn’t want our pups to be crated for that long. We found the Canine Club and Spa and thought we would give them a shot. We sure are glad we did. This place is like a doggy paradise. With three pools that the dogs can swim in, our labs were in heaven. They even posted fun pictures online of our dogs swimming so we could see just how much fun they were having! We will definitely be taking the boys back!

It has been over a year since I have been taking my dog to this daycare, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the quality of care he receives. He’s exhausted when he is done, and the price is VERY reasonable. I pay $ 24 a day in Kansas City, where most things are cheaper than in Minneapolis. I look for excuses to bring Franklin here when I’m visiting my parents in MN.

I’ve taken my energetic Vizsla to the Canine Club for 2 ½ years. Overall, it has been a great facility and I trust that my dog will be taken care of. They’re good about checking on your dog if you are boarding for an extended period of time which is nice if you’re worried! The pickup time can take some time, but it’s really not their fault; it just gets rather busy around PM rush hour.

We’ve been taking our 6 month old puppy Birdie here for about 6 weeks now and are very happy with the service. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It’s a breeze to drop off and pick up our dog and it’s nice they keep our card on file. My wife and I work in the Chaska/​Chanhassen area and it’s a blessing to have a place like the Canine Club so close by. Before we were crating our dog at home and paying a dogwalking service $ 15 to come by everyday at let our dog out to pee for 20 minutes. For the same price (if you buy the 3-​daycares-​bundle deal) we can take our dog to the Canine Club and know that she’s around people and other dogs all day getting to play and socialize. The other thing that’s great about bringing our dog here is she comes home tired and mellowed out for the evening. It’s a lot easier to make dinner and relax at home after work now, whereas before our dog would be a big ball of unmanageable energy after being crated all day. I love the fact the Canine Club posts pictures of our dog on Facebook and has web cameras we can use to check in on her from our work computers. I only wish the outdoor cameras were better quality and closer up for the little dog group area. It can be hard to see her on that camera. My only complaint so far about using the Canine Club’s service is our dog has come down with kennel cough since being there. She’s vaccinated against it, so other than not bringing Birdie there anymore I’m not sure what else we can do to prevent it. All in all, I’m glad a co-​worker recommended the place to us and I would recommend it to anyone else in the area as well.

The Canine Club did an excellent job with our dog Lauren, when we first brought Lauren in for a visit she wasn’t intimidated and walked right in. The business was extremely clean and well taken care off, and didn’t smell at all when you first walked in. Also the amenities for the dog are wonderful!
I highly recommend taking your pet there!
