Don’t waste your time unless you really need to have your Charcoal chicken. Service was friendly and chicken was decent, but the sides were the smallest portions I’ve ever seen from a chicken spot. And rice was just plain old white rice.

3 stars because of the ¼ chicken. Not enough meat on the chicken in my opinion. Rice and red beans were decent. Would go back but would get the ½ chicken to see if it was just a fluke that my meal was low in meat.

Food was ok, the man who was there give us the left over of the natural drink, I ask for more yellow sauce he want to charge us .15 cent for it, overall food was ok yuca good but I felt it was expensive for whole chicken 3 drinks, flan, and and three sides of yuca we pay $ 33

Chicken is ‘usually’ pretty fresh and moist. Once we got very dry chicken but thinks its a one-off event. I love their yucca! Its like mashed then reformed into tater tots, super yummy and not as dry as other places. Their alfajores are also the best I’ve had in NoVA. They’re not dry or chalky like most other places. Two issues preventing that fifth star: 1st issue: Their chicken is VERY hot so it melts the styrofoam containers and those chemicals get into your food. Whatever foods is on the bottom will have a chemical/plastic taste to it. I don’t like my food tasting like chemicals, and I don’t want to think about those chemicals in my body. ****Please start putting a sheet of foil in the bottom your to-go containers!!! 2nd issue: They consistently run out of chicken at least an hour before closing. Good for them, not for me! So if you’re a later dinner eater like myself, I like to eat around 8pm, then do not count on there being any chicken left because they sold out. So get in here before 6pm or its a gamble.

This place is great! They serve the best Yuca I’ve ever had. They could add a bit more butter to their rice, however. Overall great, the chicken itself was 7⁄10.

Great food. Friendly service. We frequently grab whole chickens and side salad as an evening dinner for the family. Everyone loves it.

Chicken wasn’t even warm it must have been old. Sides weren’t impressive either. Won’t go here again.

Yummy! I have never tried peruvian chicken before, bit it’s pretty good! Honestly I keep coming back for the yuca. I’m not a big fan of chicken, but their sauces make it more interesting and the simple seasoning is also very nice. It’s a small, quiet place and I have never seen it jam packed, but more like one or two consistent customers picking up their to-go’s.

Randomly stumbled into this restaurant. Been wanting to try Peruvian food for the longest time. Now I’m inspired to visit and explore the country. Very good!

Love the chicken and the friendly staff! I think it’s on par with the larger more popular Peruvian chicken joints in Northern VA. Been going here for a quick lunch regularly for several years and the chicken is perfect every time. Takes ~5 minutes to prepare. Chicharron is worth a try but the Chicken is truly where it’s at. Yucca is awesome too, not stringy or overly processed like some others. If the wife is wiped out and doesn’t want to cook, this is my go-to take out on the way home.

Chicken is delicious! Probably the best peruvian chicken I’ve had. Huge portions and very friendly service. Will definitely be a regular here!

Stopped in for lunch and tried the pollo saltado and chicharron. The chicharron could have been a touch crispier, but it was good and the yucca was great. We liked the pollo saltado, just the right amount of seasoning and potatoes. A great family owned casual restaurant. A tasty way to support a local business!

Count me as a fan of this place! I travel for a living, so I get to try places listed in Unilocal all over the nation. On my last day in the DC area, I had the half chicken for lunch at Cholito Chicken, with Yuca and salad as sides. As I waited for the food, I went to the rest room and in the hallway I saw bags of natural hardwood charcoal. That’s promising, I thought. Sure enough, the chicken had the«cooked over a charcoal fire» color(dark) and fabulous flavor. There was a very tasty spice evident in the chicken meat. And it comes with a green sauce for dipping. If you’ve never had Yuca, give it a try here. I’ve eaten Yuca twice before, once near Ft. Belvoir and once in Miami. Cholito’s Yuca is the best I’ve ever had. Light and fluffy with an excellent dipping sauce that makes it even more tasty. Fabulous! I’m giving them 5 stars be cause of the excellent service and flavor. In fact, while I was waiting for my flight to board at Dulles, my mind was re-playing those fabulous flavors. They were truly divine.

I can’t say I was impressed. Was at the Air and Space museum nearby looking for decent food and came across this restaurant. My thoughts: Service: way too slow. I didn’t time it, but usually ordering rotisserie chicken doesn’t take this long. Then I had to ask for a glass of water… Again. At least they brought the food out to our table. Food: Chicken– soft, fall off the bones juicy chicken… Skin wasn’t crispy enough for me, nor did it have that much flavor. Very weird because they don’t ask whether you want white or dark meat. My friend and I traded. Plantains – very small portions and cut very thin. Reminded me of bananas. Also very very greasy. I liked to think patting them down with towels helped my case but they didn’t. Yuca– now these were actually pretty good. Crispy, soft and moist on inside, ams a decent portion size. Price: very affordable! Atmosphere: regular ol’ take out or seat yourself place. Nothing special. But they DO have good descriptions/translations in English. I guess there aren’t too many options in the area, but don’t drive out here just for this…

I actually came here for Peruvian Chicken but I got to the register and I saw Lomo Saltado. So I had to oder it. I’m spoiled because my favorite is at Oro’s. This one was too salty and not much flavoring; just beef and salt. The fries were good but the meat wasn’t good to me. I might have to come back here for pollo sometime since it is their specialty.

My friends and I got carry-out from here for dinner last week. Between us, we shared a chicken and a half and 3 sides: rice, fries, and plantains. Nothing really impressed us. The chicken was fine, but it had more of an herbed flavor than the usual Peruvian rotisserie chicken. The fries were soggy and under-seasoned(probably frozen), and the plantains were dry and bland. I didn’t try the rice. The sauces that came with the chicken were fine, but also nothing special. I’ve had much better food from many other places in the area. I wouldn’t bother coming back here.

We stopped in for a bite on our way to Costco, and found a decent enough Peruvian place. The service was quite friendly, and the food was perfectly good. My wife’s chicken was moist enough, but the yucca wasn’t as crispy as we usually like it. On a whim I tried one of their weekend specials; chicken in cream sauce thickened with crackers. It sounded interesting, which it was, and in a good way. They used a lot of thigh meat rather than just breast meat, so the chicken was juicy and flavorful, and while you could taste the crackers it wasn’t overwhelming and was a nice change of pace from a roux-thickened cream sauce. Overall a nice little place, but nothing really blew us away.
