G&C Tire and Auto Service

The night of ice storm prelude to the STORM of ’16 I slid into a curb and thought I ruined a tire. I emailed Ryan at the Chantilly shop around midnight that night saying that I needed 2 new tires since I had just ruined one and the other was 50% worn. Ryan called me at 9 AM telling me that my tires would be there @ noon and for me to come in @ 1 PM. I arrived and they were kind enough to give me a ride to a local restaurant. About an hour later they called me and said that everything was OK… NO new tires needed merely lost some air in the tire they checked the tires and suspension and that too checked out without any repairs needed and that my car was ready! Another GREAT and HONEST job. THANKS GUYS!!!

Too many red flags from previous reviewers and that I experienced during my visit. Other reviewers said services that the shop stated needed to be performed or else the customer would fail their safety inspection were not needed when they went to a different shop for a second opinion. In my own experience, for example, I was told my windshield wipers needed to be replaced because they were «just started to wear a little bit on the edges» and a bunch of other repairs were required or my vehicle would fail inspection. The windshield wipers were a small expense, but I know they could not have been in bad shape because I had them replaced at my last oil change at my previous shop 3 months ago. I played it safe and chose to complete all the repairs they stated were required but I have a feeling if I took my car to another shop the outcome (and cost of my visit) would have been different. Even so, I will be trying a couple of other shops in the area for routine maintenance to see what the experience is like elsewhere but would consider coming back if I felt other places were exactly the same. The shop was clean and everyone I interacted with was extremely patient, friendly, and best of all — knowledgeable. If I had not read negative reviews from people who had experiences with work that may not have been necessary my opinion would be completely different and I would absolutely come back.

Update: I cannot believe how trustworthy and honest this shop is. I thought I needed new tires before the big storm coming and so I scheduled a last minute appointment which they got me right in for! I spoke with Bill who was helpful and professional. After taking a look at my car they analyzed and showed me my tires, advising me I don’t need new tires. He could have easily sold them to me but instead came out to explain to me and show me why I don’t need them. I am so thankful I have people like this to take my car to. They have a life long customer in me!

After hearing great reviews about G & C from people I work with as well as Unilocal I decided to give them a try so I could get new tires installed on my car. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed. I ordered tires from Tire Rack and had them shipped to G & C, I was contacted by one of the managers the day after I ordered them and they said I would be contacted when they came in so they could set up an appointment to get them installed. I tracked the tires from the UPS website and found out what time they were delivered. Several hours later I still had not received a call about them so I contacted the shop myself to set up an appointment.
I explained that I could drop my car off the next morning when they open. I dropped the car off for the appointment and explained that I would like to have the alignment done as well. I was told that they would also do a courtesy check because this was the first time I had ever been to the shop. I know a lot of places do that, so o.k. After working night shift I went home and went to sleep. I woke up around 1:00 P.M. to find I had a missed call from them around 9:00 A.M. Thinking that this was record time to mount and balance four tires and do an alignment I was excited and got my hopes up a little too high.
I called them back and spoke to Eric (I believe that was his name, but of course magically his name isn’t on my receipt). I was told that my car was out of alignment because «there was a lot of play in the right front tie rod end.» Because of this situation they could not do the alignment and the tie rod would need repair. I also had a «cracked serpentine belt» that «should be replaced.» Also, my battery should be replaced because it was «rough starting.» I told him I was aware of the battery situation and I would address that at a later time. I was quoted over $ 300 for the tie rod alone. I explained I didn’t have the money and to please just do the tires and I would get everything else repaired when I got more money. After I said this it was almost as I was getting a lecture that if the car was out of alignment it would improperly wear the tires, etc. I said I was aware of that and I asked if the tires had been put on yet. He said no because there is other work that needs to be done. I again had to tell him to just do the tires.
After having my car since 7:00 A.M. there couldn’t have been any reason the tires could not have at least been put on the rims and then contact me and at least say something like «tires are mounted, but the following should be done.» I went to pick up the car and after looking at my receipt there is also a recommendation for rear differential fluid that should be that I «declined». I was never told about this, so how could I decline something I was never told about? I then took my car to two other shops to get a second and third opinion about the tie rod and the serpentine belt. After making the rounds to the other shops I received word that there was nothing wrong with the tie rod and that my serpentine belt was fine as well. I also had the alignment done.
Sorry to say that this was my first and only trip to G & C. Kudos to the people who had a good experience, but I was not one of them.

G&C is where you go when you don’t have a personal mechanic, have zero knowledge about car mechanics, have had terrible experience with car services, have zero direction about your car’s care, or in need of a plain ‘ol good, trustworthy shop.
The staff here are incredibly welcoming — something you don’t find in most shops. They take the time to understand the issues that you have with your car, explain the mechanics of what they will be working on and why, and make sure that you are comfortable while you’re in the shop. The waiting area is a huge plus!
We got some basic work done here before, oil changes, tune-​ups, tire rotations/​balance, etc. We checked the work and are very happy with the results. They do good, quality work at a fair price — seriously, what?!
I can’t recommend G&C enough, I really can’t. Whether you have a luxury car or your Craigslist-​bought beat up car, take it here and they will give your vroom some love.

Was in the area and needed to get a new car inspected quick. Googled up the area and these guys came out on top. So I figured might as well give them a try. Came in, customer service is on point, these guys really try that extra mile to make sure you are happy with their service. I will be using these guys again for tire mount and balance.

I had 4 new tires installed with alignment and an oil change. Also I wanted the «road force» balance as that makes a huge difference to the life of the tires. These guys were all super friendly and their facilities were great.

Highly recommend this shop for all your car needs. In this day and age where it is extremely difficult to find a shop that you can trust, G&C is the shop that I would definitely recommend to anyone I know. Their staff and customer service is top notch and they will do whatever it takes to ensure that their customers have the best experience possible while getting the best quality service and repair. The shop itself is also very family friendly with toys and play areas but also great for those that need to knock out some work while waiting. They’ve got «quieter» waiting rooms with a desk and books and lounge chairs for that.
I also came in with a coupon for a free oil change that wasn’t showing up on the site when clicked on. They fully honored the coupon without question and worked to resolve the issue on the email/​website.

G&C Tire & Auto is the absolute best auto repair place and the only place I will ever go. I just bought a brand new car a year ago so it is currently still under warranty with the dealership, but even for just a state inspection, i wouldn’t take my vehicle anywhere but G&C Tire & Auto. You all rock!

This was my first time at G&C and the service is fantastic. I called before I came and I was greeted by Matt at the front desk. He was very personable and helpful. There is coffee, computers, toys, and a fridge full of drinks available to waiting customers. On top of the 50% oil change I also received half off my state inspection. Yay.

Picked this shop since it’s family owned with great reviews. Initially, Gregg the owner gave an awesome quote to replace my tie rod ends even if I provide the parts myself, was about to drop it off Chantilly location when the manager there questioned the quote and said they don’t know where Gregg pulled the numbers from and basically said to expect about double what Gregg quoted. So I went to the Manassas location instead that honored the quote from Gregg. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the tie rod ends that was the problem, it was the caliper and control arm. Since I didn’t have time to buy the parts myself I just let them do everything even tho the parts are double the price, everything came to about $ 1,700. I’m 2 weeks due to give birth, so you can only imagine how heavy this is for my pocket. I offered to pay cash in hopes of getting some discount but nope never happened.

Recently moved to the area and came here to get my VA Safety and Emissions Inspections during lunch time. Everyone was extremely friendly and the waiting room was a big plus. Although it took a little longer than expected because of a repair needed to pass, I was given time/​status updates throughout the process. The biggest help however was the advice given by the staff as to which DMV location to go to and which to avoid. I will definitely be back!

This is a great business!
I was greeted by two friendly gentlemen this morning as I walked in to get an emissions test and a safety inspection done.
After they took my cars information and keys, I was given a tour of the place where I could stay and relax while my car was being serviced.
They have two computer rooms, one which also serves as a library room. A TV room with a wonderful massage chair, and a lounge with refreshments.
Not that any of that matters, unless you’re waiting around til you car is ready. Just know that you won’t get bored while your car is being serviced at this shop.
I was in and out of there in no time. Or maybe I was distracted by the massage chair. Who knows?

Came here on a Saturday to get my safety inspection which was done in a timely manner. The waiting areas are awesome with iPads, charging station and wifi. I will definitely come back to G & C for any future services.

With many great reviews on Unilocal I decided to come here, and for one of the rare times. Unilocalers let me down. I made an early 0730 appt. Because I had to work at 1230. I was tired and worked late the night prior. So I came in because my «check brakes» light was on.
1. They said my front right light was out. So I agreed to fix, however after thinking a day later. I know I saw that both my headlights were working that am when I warmed up my car and went back in the house to get my 6 year old son. Unless it was perfect timing that it went out on my 10 minute drive to the shop. Im questioning integrity here. I believe because to get to my headlights is no easy task, they purposely wanted extra labor work. However, it shouldn’t have taken over an hour to do. I should have asked to show me… SMH
2. My rear right light was working but I know when braking it didn’t glow brighter. So he said they will change the bulb. I said I changed it a couple of weeks ago. He had some explanation that sounded good. So do it… however, as of right now it is still the same. Which tells me no one inspected their work to see if the job was done. So they charged me for a service I already did myself for free.
3. I was told it would take a couple of hours, but ended up all day. I questioned why? He told me cause they were doing other vehicles. That was a stupid answer. I was late to work because I thought a couple hours, plus I gave them a couple more hours. If you start my car, finish it and dont do other cars. If my car was still waiting should have added that. No excuse bad customer service. just wanted my $…
In the end I was charged $ 400 too much and the only real work they did was flush and refill my brake fluid. Should I trust that was genuinely done? If I wasnt so tired, I wouldn’t have been swindled. Unless the owners reading this can give me a reason to go back I will. Like a refund on changing my rear right bulb and labor. I changed that myself a couple weeks prior.
Thats not including the extra $ 400 they wanted to charge on top of that for other services. GET out of here. Going elsewhere…

Excellent service! Very knowledgeable staff that generally seems to care about your vehicle more than your money.
I just got four tires mounted and balanced. The cost was very reasonable and the wait was as expected.
Also, this place has the BEST waiting area. Fully equipped with a phone charging station and computers, the wait seemed to fly by as I enjoyed the Nationals game in their waiting area.
