Jimbo’s BBQ and Country Store

This is a surprising little gem in Chantilly. Don’t judge a book by its cover, this is some delicious food.

No more longer called Jimbo’s BBQ. It’s Now called Croson’s Deli + Market with a Los Amigos inside. Which now sells Latin food. Pupusas, burritos, and tacos.

I had hopes since this places advertises good old Texas BBQ. Living in Texas for four years, thanks Army, I have been drawn to the Texas BBQ taste. It is quite like none other.
My husband and I stopped here finally after deciding we wanted BBQ and some place fast. This place offers fast and friend service and then it goes down hill with its BBQ.
My husband and I both order the brisket platter which comes with two sides. He ordered the potato salad and spicy corn. I could pick from a list that did not really contain any health options. I ended up after my first few choices were not available with the spicy corn and baked beans. After we placed our order we grabbed 2 diet root beers and headed back to a booth to sit down.
Our meals came out and it was not the platter but a brisket sandwich. Hmmm… okay whatever not a huge deal. My husband can’t eat gluten due to a sensitivity so he just threw the bun away and ate the meat. The spicy corn was good and actually enjoyed it but nothing super special except it was the best part of the whole meal. The baked beans were okay but again nothing great. Now to the brisket… this was the worst brisket I ever had. I thought something was wrong with the meat because there was a funny taste to it. I ate it because I was super hungry but my stomach later was not happy. The BBQ sauce on the table was also something less desirable. One was a mustard based, one tasted like Kraft BBQ sauce, and the other was clearly the better of all of them by an inch.
I will say there is plenty of parking here. The store does seem to have some ties with UHAUL since there was UHAUL stuff within the store. I noticed the shelves had stuff on there that you might not find anywhere else. Well maybe if you traveled back in time to when I was a kid. Do you remember teaberry gum? Or beef jerky that is in a Skool type of can? Mr Pibb? Also if they would take their shelves and put all the stuff they have in the store on them it would only take up maybe ¹⁄₃ of the store.

I agree with Bil G.‘s assessment. My experience at this place was the same. I tried the pulled pork and it was sub par at best. No flavor. Don’t waste your time unless your desperate and have no other options.

Don’t know how this is rated so well. The meats (pulled pork and ribs) were alright, but came out lukewarm. They microwaved everything here. The «spicy corn» was just canned corn and horrible. Mac and cheese was with velveeta and it was alright. Baked beans were nothing special. Came on a Saturday and supposedly the lone employee was new, which might explain some of the issues, but it was a pretty unpleasant experience.
Don’t be fooled by the high reviews; this is a convenience store with some convent BBQ if you need it, but should not be a dining destination. We won’t be back.

This place was horrible!!! I went because the other reviews were so good. A small store in a small strip mall. My wife almost refused to go in. And I was sorry I went in. The so called pulled pork was a cross between diced and minced. When I complained the lady said something about some other lady letting the meat cutter run too long. The pork was eatable but that is about all I can say for it. I intended to get two pulled pork sandwiches but was glad I only got one. We were the only ones eating in the place. Several other people came in while we were there but many of them bought beer and left. I made the mistake of ordering fries because I was still hungry. I should not have been surprised to get some of those horrible coated fries. When I complained the lady said you should have told me you didn’t want them salted. When I explained the coating on them the lady said that she didn’t know about that as they came from the other store but they were not fresh made. If this place is the best BBQ place in South Riding I would sure hate to see the worst place. I won’t ever come back to this place. I did eye the brisket but it was labeled chopped and so I let that go. Even Willard s BBQ which is close by is better than this stuff and I didn’t like Willard’s. Absolute BBQ in Manassas has this place beat by a mile but they are only open on Friday and Saturday or is it Saturday and Sunday?!

You can’t go wrong with the BLT or the pulled pork sandwich. Both are excellent selections! Definitely a place you would never expect to find good eats, but it really is the best BBQ in the Chantilly/​South Riding area. My father-​in-​law goes to Jimbo’s almost every Saturday and has yet to have a bad sandwich.

Let’s just say that I never would have known about this place if my husband hadn’t procrastinated on getting a UHaul for the weekend. Because of that, we ended up in the middle of nowhere at 7:00 on a Friday night wondering, «did googlemaps really send us to a hole in the wall BBQ joint to pick up a moving truck?» Not only was the woman helping us get the truck sweeter than pie, she convinced us to take some BBQ home with us since we didn’t have time for dinner. Phil, a Greek transplant from Queens, NY made up the sandwiches: one pulled pork platter and one brisket (both very reasonably priced at roughly $ 6 for a sandwich and $ 10 for the platter). The sides were big enough to feed and were fabulous. The coleslaw was simple with barely any mayo and just enough sweet and tang to complement the spicy meat, and the potato salad was perfect. Both of the sandwiches were amazing, I sincerely can’t say that one was better than the other. They both had fantastic flavor, heavy on the black pepper and were prepared with care (no giant fat globs or gristle). The sauces are also made on site and rival any gourmet sauces I’ve tried.
In short, Jimbo’s was a fantastic surprise. We only wish they were open at 6am Sunday morning when we drop the truck.

This place is like a surprise in the middle of the highway about a mile into loudoun county from Western Fairfax. I started going to this place about 3 years ago. I don’t eat a lot of meat because I look at food and I would gain weight. It’s like inhaling Cheesecake and 2 days later youre 5 pounds fatter.
But for this place, I would get their meats. They have the best pulled pork sandwich and BBQ spareribs. Most places add a lot of salt to compensate for the flavor in the meat. They don’t put very much salt in their food which is great. I can salt my own food. They based their food on the flavor of the barbeque sauce and the meat. It’s healthy and really good. I also had their macaroni salad before too. It doesn’t look pretty but it tastes really good. You can taste the flavors of everything they put in the salad. I like my macaroni al dente and the vegetables a bit crisp so the salad was perfect.
They have a wide selection of drinks and chips as well as coffee. The owner, Tiffany and her staff are really nice. They always make you feel welcomed even if they haven’t seen you in months. They always try to make good on what they sell. It’s like having a good homecooking mom and pop store in the middle of route 50. Their prices are reasonable and sometimes better than the BBQ trucks that come by Sully Plaza on the weekends.
If you love Pulled Pork sandwiches, you have to try this place. It’s informal and friendly.

Jimbo’s is easy to miss — it’s in a small strip mall, and looks like a convenience store. The BBQ is the best in the area! I get the same thing all the time — one of these days I’ll try something new, but the pork bbq sandwich is to die for, so not yet…

I would give this place NO stars if I could. I’m not sure what other people eat on a daily basis who would think this stuff actually tastes good but it was by far the worst BBQ I’ve ever had. Ribs were burnt and black. Mac n cheese was just noodles with no flavor or even cheese. Potato salad had hard chunks of veggies in it. Brisket was so dry it was like eating sand paper. And the pulled pork was dry and flaky and had no taste whatsoever. Nothing was edible. My husband and I could only get through one bite of each and the we threw the rest away. It was so horrible our stomachs have ached since trying the place that we haven’t been able to eat. As a Texan and a person who has also lived in NC for 8 years I was hoping for something at least decent. This place was not it.

Quik-​e-​mart with all the convenience type products you could ever need when you are driving in the middle of nowhere to include piece parts for your car and live bait to go fishing but that also houses a texas-​style bbq restaurant.
For a corner store on route 50 that sits by itself in a strip mall with one lamp post it is surprisingly clean and well-​kept. Some of the shelves looked bare but they still seemed to have anything you might need or want.
The BBQ was tasty, I had ribs that had they been fresh off the whatever they cooked them on, would have literally melted in my mouth if they weren’t just lukewarm from sitting since they were cooked. The pulled pork sandwich boasted a hearty-​portion of meat with loads of flavor… there is nothing to complain about, it is one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I’ve tasted in the area. The macaroni & cheese is velvety-​smooth… could use some extra spice… but that can be a pro as you can add as much salt or pepper to meet your own expectations. The sides compliment the meats, my favorite was the corn nuggets.
In all honesty, I think it’s more of a place where you can go and buy trays of stuff for parties and whatnot and everything is probably much more tasty as it would be freshly cooked and not just sitting in a warmer all day. Potential is there… but I think its hard to focus on the freshness when there is only one girl running the convenience store part and the food at one time.

Imagine my surprise when my husband brought home lunch from a convenience store, a pulled pork sandwich, a brisket sandwich, a bit of coleslaw and some off brand cheese puffs. To be honest I had read the reviews of Jimbo’s, but still wasn’t expecting much just because it is just a roadside convenience store off Route 50 in South Riding. Was I ever wrong. The pulled pork was tender and moist. The brisket, although not as tender as the pork, had this intense smoky flavor. Both were delicious. The buns were fresh and buttery. Sandwiches were $ 6.50 a piece, but I considered that reasonable as they were loaded with smoky, meaty goodness. We will definitely be returning to try some of their other BBQ. In fact — I am itching to try the smoked turkey. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover!

Pretty good BBQ, tried the chopped Brisket sandwhich w/​Texas sauce. Not bad at all, didn’t even know this place existed. It’s kind of out of my way but will hit it up again next time I’m in South Riding.
The prices seem to have went up to $.6.50 per sandwich though

I’ve had the brisket, pulled pork and turkey sandwiches. It’s really good! $ 5 per sandwich. (can’t beat that) Get there early because they can run out. I’ve gone two weeks in a row and my mouth is watering to go there again very soon! Seating inside with a TV to watch the game.

Oh yeah. This is the good stuff. Basically, it’s a dumpy convenience store with your standard convenience store goods. Except for the best BBQ in Loudoun County. The smoked turkey is insanely moist and tender and represents what Texas BBQ is supposed to be. They sell it by the pound or as a platter on a bun with two side dishes. Either way, you’ll be glad you stopped by this place.
There are a couple of basic tables where you can sit and eat but I prefer to take it home.

I’m a Texas expatriate, and I can say without equivocation that Jimbo’s is the closest you’re going to get to authentic Texas BBQ in the metro DC area. This weekend I bought a pound of smoked turkey so moist and infused with smokehouse flavor that it was *better* than the leftovers I get to enjoy when I go home for the holidays. I also bought a rack of ribs generously (but not overly) slathered in a delicious BBQ sauce that the owner says she makes herself. The meat literally falls off the ribs and is so succulent and flavorful that one could easily polish off a rack in one sitting without even realizing it (I know, because I did!).
I used to be homesick for good BBQ… not anymore! Jimbo’s is now a regular stop for me each week, and if it adds inches to my waistline it’s worth every calorie. Highly recommended.

Jimbo’s is a convenience store, Deli, and a place to get Brisket or Pork BBQ.
I’ve gotten a Half Smoke here. Tasted like it was on the roller heater thingie for to long. It needed to be nuked a bit in the microwave to heat it up.
Also have had the BBQ Pork sandwich. You get a lot of pork. But, mine was not very hot.
The lady running the place makes two different BBQ sauces for the sandwiches — one is a mustard-​based sauce, the other is a tomato-​based sauce. She gave me a taste of both. And both were pretty damn tasty.
As a convenience store, you can get all the normal convenience store goodness: bottled water, sodas, snacks, toiletries, and more.
