Window World of Washington DC

Stay clear of this particular Window World and especially the sales representative named Nelson. I received the quote on May 7^th from Nelson. While he was at my house he told me if I didn’t sign right away the price could possibly go up. When I sent him an email the following week asking him about the windows I told him I would purchase the windows when I return from vacation. Just today I was ready to send in my contract and make the payment, and he, Nelson sends me a message saying that now I owe an additional $ 300 for the windows. When I called him and asked him about it he told me that it was an error and that what he gave me was only an estimate it wasn’t a true reflection of what I will really needed to pay.
I have been going back and forth with management at Window World DC all day, to no avail they still have not decided whether they would waive the $ 300 additional charge due to their sales representative error, even though I was willing to pay them $ 2,400 for 6 windows. Again, I say stay clear of Window World DC.
Nelson the sales rep is rude, unprofessional and a liar. If I could, I would post some of his email correspondence to me, the customer!

Incredibly Dissatisfied with their work.
1. You aren’t actually purchasing a new window. They leave the old garbage frame and window stop and screw in the new vinyl and glass. Then, they’ll caulk over all the existing broken wood and screws so it’ll be impossible to actually fix it up and be a nightmare to retrim.
2. They installed my french doors, but missed the location of the door stop in the bottom sill. Instead of replacing the sill, they just made the hole nuch bigger so it will fit. But now of course, it wiggles like hell. They also installed the door latch crooked. I don’t understand how they could even do that with a straight face.
3. The windows really don’t look very nice. The vinyl comes slightly scratched with noticeable seams and marks.
Unhappy I spent 10 grand on this product. Will be posting pictures and videos of their work online to ensure others don’t make the same mistake I did.

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! I ordered my sliding glass door sept 11 and was told by the salesman someone would contact me in two weeks to measure my door, and install within 4 – 6 weeks. Three weeks went by no call. I called them, and each time I spoke with someone (I called a total of four times) someone would always «call me right back» to set up my measurement appointment. Eventually they came to measure my door. The man showed up late, but at least showed up. Finally 10 weeks later my door was ready to be installed. The first time I set up an appointment which was from 9am-​11am, I had to reschedule due to work. But the person would was supposed to install it was never relayed the message and called me at 12pm saying he was going to be late. The second time someone was supposed to come from 9 – 11, (I went into work late) called me at 930 saying they weren’t coming due to the rain. It was wet outside that day but it was not raining. The third time I schedule my appointment which was from 2 – 4, I took off early and no one ever showed up! No one called, nothing. The next morning a manager called asking to reschedule our appointment. I was so furious because at first he didn’t even acknowledge that they never showed up! Until I finally blew up a little bit. He said the installation people had car trouble. I asked why no one could call and let me know and he just kept beating around the bush. I asked for my month back numerous times, but he kept saying «well we have your door here we just need to install it» I reschedule one more time, and he gave me a $ 100 discount. For a $ 1600 door that I paid half for in September. In the end I wish I never went here and gave them my money. I cannot believe this company is actually is business for how much stress they put me personally through! All the negative reviews from Unilocal Are absolutely true! I wish I would have listened to them!

I had Window World come out to my house to get an estimate. The process was explained about the different features of the window and how they work. Overall the sales person was very nice. The sales man asked me if I wanted to purchase vinyl trim for the house. I asked him what was the function of the vinyl, his reply was so that you don’t have to paint the windows in the future. I just painted the windows and wasn’t planning on staying in this house much longer, so i didn’t purchase the vinyl. We also had a installer come out and measure the windows for accuracy .
When the installer came out to install windows he told us he couldn’t install windows because molding around the window would have to be torn out and that the windows would also have 1 inch gap on each side that would need to filled with caulk. I stopped the installation process and called Window World .
I explained to the manger on duty about the situation and he said they would come back free of charge and install the vinyl. I have called 10 times and now they want me to pay for it. So they can keep my 8 windows and my deposit. They did call me back to asked me if i should have Arthur the sales man pay for the vinyl install. (obviously trying to make me feel guilty) This had to be the dumbest question ever asked ?
THE INSTALLATION PART NEEDS TO BE BETTER EXPLAINED TO THE CONSUMER ! YOU CAN’T EXPECT A 1 INCH GAP FILLED WITH CAULK ON EACH SIDE OF THE WINDOW TO HAVE A FINISHED LOOK !

Their warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. We had a door latch fails, still under warranty, and they tell us it is covered, but it has been so much hassle. They make appointments, no one shows up, no one calls to say they are not coming — 3 TIMES! They ordered the wrong parts — TWICE, workmen show up without the tools /​parts they need — ONCE, etc. It is a clown show.

No understanding of customer service. Tiffany Jackson, Duane Moreno (owner), and Cliff gave me a huge run-​around.
They lost my order, did not follow up on measurements, took weeks to communicate. I left numerous messages for them, they never called back. This place is a total scam.
Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Most wonderful experience with a renovation project of replacing all of our windows! Ken’s sales visit was nothing like others. He was very genuine and upfront about everything. The pricing for the windows was straight forward with each window and labor expenses itemized for me to easily determine where the costs are coming from. Ken also never pressured us into anything and enabled us to review and compare everything prior to deciding. The installation crew (Elmer, Tomas, and Obi) was very professional and efficient! They finished installing over 30 windows within 2 days. The windows look beautiful and I expect them to keep my home better insulated from the elements and noise for years to come. I was also very much sold on the true lifetime warranty on these. Thanks Ken, Installation Team, and the management at Window World for making this entire process least painful as possible!

We were looking to replace our windows and met with several companies that provided similar yet very high estimates. We were discouraged, as we have a lot of house projects to do and are trying to stay on a budget. We then called Window World, and were pleasantly surprised. Their representative, Dustin Swartz, was the epitome of a polite and knowledgable salesperson. He told us everything we needed to know about the product and didn’t pressure us to buy, as we had a several month horizon. Best of all, the estimate was extremely reasonable — about ½−1/3 the cost of other companies. The installation team was first-​rate. They called in advance to let us know when they would arrive, and were on time. They measured all the windows very quickly and worked so efficiently on the installation that they completed it in one day– and we have a LOT of windows. Finally, I love the replacement guarantee if anything goes wrong. All in all, we had a great experience with Window World and highly recommend them.

We ordered windows, siding and gutters in November, still waiting for installation, you have to call and ask for information and they give you imaginary dates. Biggest mistake we ever made for home improvement. Still waiting for installation, even though we were informed our product is in.

My wife and I were extremely pleased with the quality and price of the windows we bought from Window World. Dustin Swartz provided us with great customer service throughout the entire process. We honestly couldn’t be happier.

Well, I have updated their rating, because I finally got my windows installed this week. After almost 3 months. The crew did a great job on the install, very nice appearance, sealed things up really good. New windows look great and I can already tell they are better than my old ones just by how the rooms are holding in the heat with this cold weather. They cleaned up well and took away everything. Nice rebound after a pretty ugly beginning for this experience.

Quick update: windows are holding up well, and have had only a few problems. For example, the new front door was mounted slightly off and so had to be remounted.
Re service, generally, what you’ll find is that it is very easy to schedule a service visit, which is great, but the guys who come to fix things will try to do the absolute minimum necessary (or slightly less than that) and so you need to be there and watch them throughout, and then check the work carefully. There does not seem to be anything like «pride in a job well done» at all, just «do it quick and get gone».

I have purchased 5 windows and 1 patio door. They took long time to schedule for installing. At the day of installation, they send 2 guys with no experience, they took more than 14 hours to install and left my house after midnight missy and dirty. They provided me with wrong screen size and 2 windows broken. They took 6 months to reorder the broken windows, but they never get me the right screens. Every time I call the compony, managers is not available and never call back. There are somebody from the compony contacted me his name is Erick, he is not a manager, he is a big liar and un-​respectable. When I called the cooperate office, they promised to investigate but they didn’t. My overall experience is very bad, they are a bunch of liars and bad products, I don’t recommend.

This review wold of been 5 stars, after many, and say many because I had all the window companies cme out and give me outragous quotes. Window World window was bar none the best in its class and the price was way cheaper than the rest. All but Window World talked horribly about the others. Window World also has the best Warranty. Can’t beat them. Although on one installer actually spoke english they were still very professional and clean up after their work. My house was under extensive renovation and they still layi drop clothes down and cleaned up after themselves. The reason fo the 2 starts. The Installation Manager (ERIC) is an idiot. I ordered 24 windows and 2 8′ sliding glass doors… I didn’t have a problem with anything but one thing. Where one sliding glass door upstairs did not cover the gap between the Brick and house. The old door was wider and covered this section. He came out to look at the gap and said «yes we will take care of you an put a threshold of some sort over it. He said he would call me in the AM to let me know when they were coming out. After 2 weeks went by with multiple calls with no return calls back I finally got a hold of the sales rep who said he would take care of it. The original installer came out an fixed the issue and laid a beautiful threshold down. He found a system that works. Still doesn’t fix the fact that ERIC never returned calls and it took two weeks with a BIG GAP to fix… After talking the installer, he doesn’t even know how to install windows or doors and is full of hot air. The man needs to be fired and replaced with someone who is knowledgable. Needless to say I recommend them but if you have an issue, deal with the OM Michelle, because ERIC is not the person you want to talk to.

We’ve updated this review due to recent experience in ²⁰¹⁴⁄₂₀₁₅. The company’s communication has gone downhill and they failed to meet reasonable delivery timelines for a time sensitive project. We wound up canceling the project and getting our deposit back.

Used this company for to upgrade a rental property in DC. Excellent installation, crew did a fantastic job. Windows have been in place for 3 years and are a noticeable improvement.
However the ironworker they contracted out to remove and then replace the windows bars did a lousy job… scorched the window frames and surrounding brick. We had to replace mortar and clean up the area ourselves. Something to watch out for.
We plan to reuse this company, but only if we can get the same installer as previous. His attention to detail and oversight of his crew made a difference

Do not do business with this incompetent «company.» The worst customer service EVER! Took months to have windows installed. Owner is… well I don’t have the words. Management is worthless.
Save your money and stay away!

The windows and front door were priced well. We paid $ 6000 for 10 windows (some of them huge!) and a front door with sidelight. All in all, good product at a decent price.
The installation left a lot to be desired. I was told it would take about half a day. The crew of 2 men arrived on time, so I was thinking, «Great…I’ll be able to enjoy the rest of my day when they finish.». Not the case. The installation took from 8 in the morning until nearly 10PM that night. And they had to come back the next day to finish the door. While I admire the guys for working hard and being troopers, I don’t know if they were undermanned or just slow. Additionally, they didn’t caulk the bottoms of 3 of the windows, which I had to do myself.
Good product. Cheap Prices. Decent communication from Sales. Long, slow installation.

The pricing is attractive, the windows are fine, but the customer service… OMG…some of the worst I have personally seen. I even escalated to the Corporate office in NC and their customer service rep there was NEVER in the office and NEVER returned my call. The women answering phones in the Chantilly office had attitude to boot and never went beyond what their stated job was which was to answer the phone. No escalation, never heard from any manager and I was «this» close to pulling my order. While my rep, Arthur Simons, was on point with his presentation to get the deal closed at my home, his follow up to rectify measurements which needed to be retaken, investigation into why my order was so delayed, and getting my timely answer and responses was totally lacking.
