Meet the Business Owner
Todd J.
Business Owner
Todd grew up on a farm near Erie, Kansas and is a graduate of Kansas State University. While he was EVP of a bank in Cherryvale, he purchased an abandoned motel property there in 2003 and remodeled it. After that was completed he was recruited to look at the old «Tioga hotel» in downtown Chanute. The hotel had been closed for 4 years when he purchased it in 2004.
Initially he planned to have just 12 hotel rooms and buildout the rest as condos as they sold. But when the condos didn’t sell he began the long journey to convert the original 92 rooms into 55 hotel rooms and suites. Despite numerous political, structural, economic and staffing challenges along the way, the hotel now has the highest ratings on Trip Advisor of any in the area. The remodeling of the hotel rooms is scheduled to be completed in September, 2015 and the restaurants in the fall of 2016.
Todd is now a well-known restaurant, bar and hotel consultant who has been featured on Bravo TV and numerous publications.
