Chapel Hill InnTown

Three of us recently stayed here, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The condo was as pictured and offers great value in an exceptional location. Walk to all the good stuff that Chapel Hill and the University have to offer from this clean, comfy, and convenient two-​level condo. Both the lower patio and upper balcony overlook a wooded area, and the neighborhood was quiet. Eric is a great host who is helpful and offers other services, such as airport pickup, that are often missing. Highly recommended! We will definitely return!

After a plumbing problem left my Carrboro home flooded and uninhabitable for weeks, I did a quick Google search for «extended stay housing» in Chapel Hill and found Inn Town. I called and spoke to the owner who was able to accommodate my need for up to two months worth of housing immediately. I’ve been staying here for two weeks now, and I highly recommend it. The location couldn’t be better – walking distance to downtown Chapel Hill, Triangle Yoga, Foster’s Market, and Flyleaf books with easy access to numerous free Chapel Hill bus lines. The townhomes are large, well-​maintained, furnished, and stocked with nearly everything you need day-​to-​day: bedding, towels, cookware, dishes, and a full-​size washer and dryer. Reliable wifi is available for $ 5 daily, and Dish Network television is provided. I don’t watch much television, so I haven’t really used it. There is a patio off the first floor, and a great deck off the bedroom (I could get used to that). The rates are reasonable ($ 64 – 99 nightly depending on the unit and length of stay), and I was not pressured to pay cash as stated by the previous reviewer. I was offered the option of using a credit card with a convenience fee (I think it was 5%), paying cash, or writing a check. Also, no huge hold on my credit card or deposit was required like some hotels and motels expect.
Overall, Inn Town is a great option if you need an affordable place to stay for longer than the average hotel stay.

InnTown is a small apartment/​condo-​plex that offers temporary housing in Chapel Hill. I was looking for an apt-​like place within walking distance of the UNC campus, and it definitely fits that bill. It’s about a 20-​minute walk (uphill!), but that was no problem as the weather was super-​nice and I like walking. It might be more challenging in winter, or for those who have limited mobility, but there’s also an A-​line bus that runs right by the place.
I docked this place some stars because it felt dirty and dingy. There was dust EVERYWHERE, and I would NOT recommend it for the allergy-​sensitive person. My allergies were out of control. There were also ants in the kitchen, which greatly discouraged me from using it, which was the sole reason I wanted an apartment-​like place to begin with… It was dark, despite the many lights.
Finally: I’m all about low-​key, informal living arrangements, but the management seemed slightly… strange. They were going to charge a fee for me to use a credit card, seemed unhappy about my writing a check, neglected to give me a receipt… Eventually they took my check (I balked at paying the sum of my stay in cash – who carries that much cash on them these days?) and e-​mailed me a receipt after the fact, so it turned out fine in the end.
Positives: good (satellite) t.v. selection (if you’re into that); wireless high-​speed internet for a nominal fee ($ 5/​day); good location (close to some cafes and walking distance to Franklin St.; on a bus line); free, safe, off-​street parking; quiet
Negatives: dark, dusty, dingy; TINY t.v. (if you care about such things); ants in kitchen; pressure to pay in cash (which always alarms me)
