Quality Inn

I attended a conference held at The Sheraton next door and got a room here on my first night because The Sheraton was booked. I wish I had just stayed here all 3 nights!
While the exterior and lobby may lack the ambiance of higher end chains, the rooms themselves are just as large and the beds just as comfy. They provided a decent complimentary continental breakfast and even allowed me to get food at 5:00– a full hour before they opened.
Customer service was excellent. It was $ 50 a night cheaper than The Sheraton and offered a free breakfast, which the former did not.

The good:

Could be cleaner: The bathroom area wasn’t spotless… and the shower curtain (+ the bed’s duvet) was stained. Since we had to bathe our 7-​month old baby I felt the tub needed a thorough wipe-​down & sanitizing. (Clorox surface wipes to the rescue!)
Don’t expect much from the continental breakfast. It offers the minimal, typical stuff like bagels and boxed cereal. Juices are from automated dispensers.

I believe in reviewing businesses based on how well they met my expectations and accomplish what they intend to do. Quality Inn is trying to be a no-​frills, affordable hotel chain, and this location does that very well.
We stayed here for several days while we were apartment hunting, and we had our cat with us. If you have a cat, you know what that means – you have to check every room for little nooks and crannies where a cat could hide and get stuck. In our first room, the baseboard had fallen down under the sink, and the remaining baseboard was a few inches from the front of the cabinet, leaving plenty of opportunities for a little cat to crawl inside. We had no trouble getting moved to another room, and this one had absolutely no spots where a cat could get stuck. There is a $ 25 pet fee, but fortunately for us, it’s per stay and not per night.
Housekeeping was a little erratic. On the first day, they didn’t come until nearly 3 pm and we were in the room at the time, so we asked them to just bring new towels and washcloths. On the second day, we had our pet sign on the door but not the do not disturb sign; we put the cat in her crate so they could clean the room. But housekeeping never showed up. We called the front desk and asked them to clean it the next day, and they did.
The mattresses are on the firmer side. They were tolerable but not great. We brought our own pillows, so I can’t comment on those, but the front desk did offer us more (to stuff in the hole under the first sink). So if your pillow is too flat, you can always get extras.
The breakfast is pretty good for a free hotel breakfast. There is no hot food, but there is a waffle iron and some frozen biscuits that you can microwave, as well as the usual fruit, pastries, yogurt, etc. I appreciated the fact that there were biscuits with just egg and cheese so I could get some protein without the meat. There were also sausage and chicken biscuits. It’s all the same thing every day, so if you stay for more than a day or two, you’ll get tired of it. But that’s probably the case with any hotel breakfast.
The staff are all very nice. They addressed every concern quickly and just made it a pleasant stay. Darryl at the front desk is really excited to be here. He is far more enthusiastic than anyone else I’ve ever seen at 9 am.
Parking can be a little complicated. It’s not that they don’t have enough parking; it’s that people routinely park large trucks, horse trailers, and other big vehicles here. You might have trouble getting a spot near your room or navigating around the building. But we had a UHaul and it wasn’t a big problem to park it here.
There were a lot of people smoking on the walkways outside the nonsmoking rooms. That was pretty nasty and I had to hold my breath when I walked to our first room, because I had no choice but to pass those people and I’m allergic to tobacco smoke. The hotel says you aren’t supposed to smoke on the walkways, but that needs to be clearly stated to people when they check in.
It was no problem for them to check us out early when we found an apartment sooner than we’d expected. Overall, I would stay here again.

Super friendly staff, free cookies and coffee and cheap rates even on a game weekend. If you want to stay at the Ritz, the go stay at the Ritz. If you want an inexpensive place to stay near the action in Chapel Hill/​UNC, then this is a solid option.

When I visited my brother and his family. I stayed at this hotel over the Memorial Day weekend. The hotel is 20 minutes by car to Durham, the Greyhound bus station, Amtrak train station and not too far from the Raleigh-​Durham Airport. They have free Continental breakfast. Each room comes with a microwave and fridge in the room. The hotel has a fitness center and a pool. My family and I enjoyed our stay there.
The one thing that annoyed me was the fact that we had requested for our room to be cleaned prior to going out. When we came back, the room had not been cleaned. It was odd since we were told that the cleaning staff had just started making the rounds to clean. The staff at the hotel did apologize and brought us fresh towels etc. When the cleaning lady did come the next day she cleaned the room from top to bottom. On top of that they took money off our final bill to compensate us for our trouble.
All in all this is a good hotel. If you are looking for a good mid range hotel that won’t blow your budget then this is the place.

I like to stay in Quality Inns; they are reasonably priced, kept very clean, well located, and I’ve always had good experiences with the front desk personnel. This one is typical; the person at the front desk helped me get my daughter’s and my luggage to my room during a heavy rainstorm while I drove around the hotel to where the room is. Quality Inn’s record is spotless as far as I’m concerned!
