Amanda Cushman is a culinary educator who has cooked professionally as well as taught classes for over twenty-​five years. She teaches private as well as public cooking classes in the Raleigh/​Durham area of North Carolina.

She specializes in ethnic, healthy cooking from countries such as Morocco, Thailand, Vietnam and India.

A complete meal with wine is served at the end of each class and any group size can be accommodated.

She has developed hundreds of recipes for cookbooks as well as food magazines such as Food and Wine, Self, Fitness, Cooking Light and Fine Cooking.

She has a cookbook that highlights her favorite recipes titled Simple Real Food.

History

Established in 1991.

The business of hands-​on private and public cooking classes with cookbook author and culinary educator Amanda Cushman started in Manhattan.

She taught at the Institute of Culinary Education for twelve years and had many requests for private culinary classes.

Chef Amanda began teaching people in their homes in the NY, CT and NJ area and continued to expand her skills to include cuisines from all over the world.

After re-​locating to Los Angeles she continued to offer hands-​on private cooking classes as well as taught in many local cooking schools such as Sur La Table, Williams Sonoma and Lets Get Cooking.

The demand for culinary team building led her to create events for Guess Jeans, Nike, Yahoo, Google, Exxon Mobile and many other corporations.

She recently relocated back to her home state of Connecticut where she continues to teachcooking classes privately as well as at The Upstairs Kitchen, Homeworks and White Gate Farm.

Amanda Cushman is a culinary educator who has cooked professionally for over twenty –five years.

Her career in food began in catering over twenty five years ago in Manhattan where she worked with some of the top NYC caterers. Her next position was at Food and Wine where she developed recipes for two years in their test kitchen. This led to her contributing recipes to Cooking Light, Self, Fine Cooking and Vegetarian Times.

Amanda began teaching at The Institute of Culinary Education in the early nineties and wrote the popular Spa series of cooking classes highlighting low fat, low carbohydrate menus. She taught the professional program at the Natural Gourmet School of Health for over five years as well as at the New School in NYC.

Chef Cushman has done a number of television appearances including; New York One, Before and Afternoon Movie, Ten Years Younger and Blind Date.
