History

Established in 2007.

Twig opened for business in December of 2007. Founder Shawn Slome believed it was time to start a business that focused entirely on offering sustainable, organic and fairly traded goods. We cultivate a positive, empowering work environment at Twig. We train our staff thoroughly so they can help educate our customers regarding the values and benefits of our products. We’re serious about our work without taking ourselves too seriously.

Business Owner

Shawn’s lifelong environmental activism dates back to the first Earth Day in 1970 when the urgency to help save our planet was becoming apparent. When not at the shop, Shawn enjoys gardening and building rock sculptures at his home in the woods. He and his wife designed and built a solar home which was completed in 2006. They are members of the NC Green Power Program.
