University Apartments

I’ve lived here for about 3 months so far, and I love it. The management and staff are the best and so is the new maintenance! Perfect if you’re a UNC student looking for something close to campus as well as close to night life. Police and fire station is less than one mile away, and the area is safe. Great choice for an apartment!

I wanted to give this place a quick review as I just recommended it to a friend looking for places close to campus, and I think this is a good option to consider. I lived here a few years ago and did not have any issues with my living space or rent. The biggest pros about living here for me is that it is super convenient to campus and I loved the parking and guest lot. The quiet environment is a plus too. It doesn’t have a game room or pool, but it was a great choice for what I was looking for.

I do not know how to begin but in nutshell, stay away from this apartment. I have seen this apartment change from the former management to the new management that «renovated» the complex. Here are the reasons why I moved out:
1) The rent — you can find cheaper, larger, better apartments around the area. Just scout around and you’ll see.
2) The management — sends lots of useless emails but does not respond to residents’ emails and quite slow in responding to requests (maintenance, etc).
3) The noise — lots of noisy, rowdy and dirty college kids. The management does not even make an effort to help those who are bothered by the noise. The walls are so uninsulated that you can hear your neighbor sneeze!
4) Cleanliness is not well maintained. The floors are dirty, the carpet on the stairs are stinky, bottles, cans and cigarette butts here and there.
5) Renovated? — the management did some cosmetic touch up. The «renovation» was done unprofessionally. The «bathroom» sink outside of the bathroom emanates a yucky smell. The shower/​tub combo is old, rusty and grimy. Flooding from broken, old pipes is also an issue there. Remember, this is an OLD building. The laminate floors are cheap and peel out and the management charges you for that!!!
6) Move-​out cleaning charges — ridiculous, shark-​like, shameless scam. $$$ per item like cleaning walls, cleaning floors, cleaning sinks???
7) Move-​out notice — 4 months in advance??? Who does this???
8) Internet — included in the expensive rent but sloooooowwww!!!
The list above are the biggest concerns. There are a lot of minor ones that will drive you nuts in this apartment.
