J Peters Grill and Bar- Chapin

The ribs were probably the best I’ve ever had! I split them with my mom, a side of vegetables and two house salads and was extremely full! Good service though we were there on a slow Monday night. Glad Chapin has a decent restaurant now!

Another great meal at JPeters. The Blueberry Cosmo is refreshing and flavorful. Gooseneck IPA was a great choice for husband. This was my third dinner meal that we had their prime rib. Can’t go wrong with that selection. Comes with house salad or Greek salad. The best part is the honey croissant that will melt in your mouth. In addition your get a side with prime rib. I got seasoned steamed veggies and husband got loaded bake potato.

Ate out on the deck. Hard to believe it is March 11 and we were eating outside. Very pleasant! If we had waited to eat inside the wait was 30 minutes. Very busy evening.

I don’t understand why this place was on a 45 minute wait. The service was good but the food was nothing to write home about. The shrimp app was chewy and terrible. Burger was good and mahi was dry and bland.

Solid restaurant that is clearly doing really well — packed on a weekday night at 5:30. I would recommend a reservation and go at an off time, otherwise it’ll be pretty loud. Tasty mahi mahi and great steamed veggies on the side. Everyone liked what they got. Warning — «cheesy mashed potatoes» are literally drowning in a very unappetizing looking cheese, I scraped off like 80% of it. It ended up being pretty delicious though. Average service.

The Firecracker Shrimp are so delicious! We had a wonderful lunch there, great staff and wonderful atmosphere. What a great new restaurant! The portions are amazing! Wings were great, I can’t wait to come back!

The wings are awesome. You can order the teriyaki wings hot, which I recommend. I have had the burgers here more than once. Very good! Handmade patties cooked to order; exactly what I love in a good burger.
The beer menu is not as extensive as I would like. If they improve this they will get more of my business.
Still, this is a great restaurant. I love the inside and the way it is laid out.

Had lunch and was enjoyable, however waitress was inattentive and not friendly at all.

Compared to everything else in Chapin, this is the place to go. The ranch fries, steaks, and loaded mashed potatoes are delicious! My husband loves the salads too! Burgers are so-​so, I’d suggest getting something else. The high school students also sold cards for free croissants with the purchase of any entrée a few months ago, and that card is the best (like the croissants)! You can use it as many times as you want.

Okay food. Bad experience. My wife called on a Wednesday to make reservations for a Friday night birthday dinner. We arrived to be told by the hostess that they had no reservation for us, and were nonchalantly asked if we wanted to be put on the list. My wife wanted to stay because they said they’d give us priority. We waited over an hour — literally the last party of the night to be seated.
While I was next door looking at a pizza place’s menu, the manager came out. My wife spoke with him and he told her, «We don’t take reservations for Friday or Saturday.» That’s fine, but we made one, and it was their error. I’d have been satisfied if ANYBODY at this place had acted like they gave a f*** about the mistake and how it inconvenienced our family. Nobody said they were sorry, and they certainly didn’t offer anything to try to make it right.

Food is very good, and HUGE portions. If you are looking for a bar to hang out during cocktail hour, I would not recommend here. They have about 5 seats at their «bar» area. But the food is wonderful… I can get a bit loud on a busy night– and expect to wait!

Everything we have had has been fantastic! The J. peters salad, prime rib, melt in your mouth. Finally somewhere to go in Chapin for a great steak !! Yay, thank you. Food is always consistent and portions are just right. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Great food but the music is too loud to enjoy conversation with the meal. Prime rib sandwich and salad are both outstanding. What they really need here is a sign saying «gentlemen please remove your hats». Great restaurant for Chapin to have, if they don’t blow it with the music.

This place is amazing! I have been here twice to dine in and my family has brought me take out a couple times also and I have never had anything bad yet. They give you a lot of food for what you pay for the meals. Staff is always friendly and you don’t have to wait too long for food. Every Time we have been there has been waiting list but we didn’t wait more then about 10 minutes for a table. I will be going back for more visits.

We love this new restaurant in Chapin! We have eaten here about 6 or 7 times and the food and the service is exceptional. The prime rib sandwich is awesome and I recently had a cheeseburger that was one of the juiciest and tastiest burgers I’ve had in a long time.

Would not return here for dinner. The experience overall was VERY bad. First, the restaurant was really crowded (which usually is a good sign!!) so we grabbed a drink at the bar before taking our table. There were two bartenders and I don’t know which one was worse… The girl was constantly yelling at patrons of the bar — not in an angry way, more of a «wahooo HEYYYY» kind of way. Which, again, I realize this is a local joint but it was so unprofessional and she was yelling to folks on the other side of the bar. Making it nearly impossible for those of us sitting right in front of her to have a decent conversation. The guy behind the bar kept wiping his noes with his hand while making drinks. It was disgusting! And I was not the only person to notice. The woman sitting next to me made a comment about not using the straw he gave her. That’s terribly gross and again — unprofessional.
The food was pretty terrible. I ordered the soup, which came out room temperature. My step-dad’s soup was also not hot. The sandwich I ordered was fine, but it’s sort of difficult to screw up a sandwich. Finally, since I didn’t eat the soup, we decided to give the banana pudding dessert a try. BAD IDEA!!! It was completely freezer burned! SO disgusting. Everyone at our table tried it and it was so terrible. It was literally inedible. When we told the waitress she apparently also tried some and returned to our table to let us know that it was indeed, freezer burned. Great! Wonder how long that item had been sitting there waiting for someone to order it? It was absolutely NOT FRESH. Gross!
Finally, the atmosphere. Now, again, this place was packed (perhaps due to a lack of options in this area?) but they could use a refresh on the décor and most importantly COVER THE WINDOWS/​DOORS! The sun was beaming into the restaurant and literally blinding customers. Several patrons were holding up their menus to block the sun. Talk about a fun experience… not! What a disaster of a restaurant.
I was looking forward to trying this place and was sorely disappointed. Service, food, atmosphere, TERRIBLE. Do yourself a BIG favor and do not eat here.

The food and service is great. We have eaten here three times and the food is always really good.

It was amazing! I LOVE that I can see in the kitchen so I know nothing is being tampered with! The waitress was wonderful and the food was awesome! Never would I have thought about putting queso on mashed potatoes but it is now my favorite way to have them! I’ll be back this weekend!

We were so excited to have a good restaurant in Chapin. Our first visit was excellent; the prime rib sandwich and J Peter burger were excellent, as was our service. But the second visit was so bad it canceled out the first. The ribs were mealy and fishy. We spoke with our waiter, who stood there like a deer in the headlights. I suggested he bring us a menu to order another item. «Uh yeah, sure.» He brought the menu and promptly disappeared. NEVER CHECKED BACK until we flagged him down. By that point we were ready to go. We asked the waiter if he had let anyone know the meal was not up to snuff. His response: «I told some people.» We’re not sure who those people are. We then flagged down the manager. It was the first he had heard of the problem. But it didn’t matter, because he didn’t really care. His response: «you could have ordered something else.» We will. At another restaurant. Folks, stick with the sandwiches!

Wife and I have been there twice this week with friends. Great food, lots of it, excellent service. Definitely will be back. This is a keeper in a locations that have seen several others come and go over the past 5 years. Try the combo bowl of she crab soup and ½ club sandwich. Huge portions.
