Better than Ever Long time charleston residents will know that Best of Crete was an original Town Center Mall tenant. They were faithful until the remodel and like Graziano’s the left when the lease was raised. Graziano’s moved to South Charleston and they said it was the best thing they ever did. After a break Best of Crete reopened in their catering kitchen in what I call deep West Side. Located in a neighborhood off of Edgewood Ave near JE Robbins Elementary BOC is an oasis of flavors. With just five tables the owner and three staff crank out traditional favorites for a full house customers and take out orders. I believe the best value on the menu is the gyro platter which includes a gyro, small Greek salad, and an additional side of your choice. The have an entrée of the day that rotates such as meatloaf or chicken livers but I want to try the meatballs and rice. The place is small but the menu is long. I’m sure you’ll find something awesome to eat. I want to be a regular! This place gets five stars because it is locally owned, the food is fresh, and it tastes great. It’s clean and comfortable without any frills.
