Charlestowne Tobacco & Wine

Maybe I’m a little out of the loop, but I didn’t know these places existed!
We were warmly greeted, picked out some cigars and went in to a room lined with wine in all price ranges (we had Staggs Leap at $ 135…good price!). The room had a TV and leather couches and other chairs (including an old school barber chair) and it was so comfortable!
The guys running the show were so friendly!
I definitely would have given 5 stars, however, it was SUPER smoky in there. Again, I have never been in someplace like this, so maybe this is normal, but I was glad I didn’t have a cigar because I could just sit there and get all of the smoke I needed!

I enjoyed the Kuba and glass red wine. It’s a relaxing lounge and the customer service is excellent! Must visit again!

Absolutely love this place! Brother Don who is too Blessed to be stressed is a rare treasure! Great company, cigars, beer & wine. A must experience!

Great place to enjoy a cigar and meet people from all over the world. Good selection of cigars, but can’t serve food.

Don’t get me wrong, I like this place on a nice, warm, Charleston day. You can sit outside, enjoy a cold beer or a nice glass of wine while you smoke a cigar. But I’m not particularly fond of it when it’s cold out and the front door is warped so badly that it doesn’t close all the way. Chalestowne Tobacco and Wine has been at this location for a looooong time. I remember seeing this place when I would visit Charleston in my 20’s; and that alone is a looooong time ago. If I weren’t sitting outside, I usually just purchased a stogie and went on about my business. I never really spent much time inside until last night. The people working here are super nice and very helpful. Prices on beer and wine are actually pretty decent as well. Smokes are a little pricey if you ask me; but I get it. They’re selling someone else’s rolls and they really can’t discount the inventory. Now let me be clear. I’m not a fan of smoking large manufactured cigars. They just don’t have that kick I’m looking for in a cigar. This is also NOT my regular go to spot to purchase either, but it does help that it’s close by. Then there is the draw of being able to get a drink. I guess I was let down when Tim K. and I took a seat in the big pleather chairs up front. It’s very clear these chairs have seen better days. The same could be said about the center table as well. I’m just saying, if your going to be a smoking lounge; perhapse you may want to upgrade some of the more worn out furniture. Other than that, Charlestowne is just an A-​ok place by me.

So, I’m not a smoker, cigar or cigarettes, but my hubs and his friends regularly get cigars here and it’s the place they choose whenever we are walking around downtown. The place was hopping… so apparently a lot of people like this place. I like it’s vibe, very masculine, I feel like I’m in a community version of the men’s smoking room at the Biltmore… leather, cigar smell, vintage vibe.

This is a great cigar spot. You can drink and smoke inside. If you can get a parking place in this downtown area and you like cigars, definitely hit up Charlestowne Tobacco and Wine. They have a good selection of cigars from your standard up to some prime stogies. They also have a great selection of wine, but I normally drink beer, of which they have about 12 to choose from. The interior is perfect for cigar smoking. Lush leather chairs and drying leaves having from the ceiling. The cashier and other gentlemen in the store were willing to discuss any cigars or pairings that you asked about.

This place is first class. I love that I can have a beer or a glass of wine while my husband has a cigar. We try to come here every time we visit Charleston!

I’m very happy I found this place. The gentleman was very attentive and knowledgeable. You could tell he had a true passion for the leaf. They had an awesome wine selection. Their cigar selection could use some work (missing star). They carry all of the newbie flavored sticks. The tourist trap /​I think I know what a good cigar is because of its name brands and a couple of treats. All in all a great stop and the only cigar lounge worth stopping in. In my opinion.

Comfortable Cigar Bar with a wide selection of smokes including pipe tobacco. Cozy surroundings and helpful, friendly staff. Large selection of wines and solid local and world brews. Seating inside and out. Perfect place for a pre or post dinner drink and stogie. Only thing missing is a full bar.

Brother Don took great care of us and made my wedding day relaxed and fun with choice cigars and drink and lively stories… And finally a hug to go. I took friends and family here and it was perfect. Thank you!

Full disclosure, I don’t smoke cigars my husband does. The selection was great. The atmosphere inside and outside was inviting. After selecting a cigar and a few glasses of wine, we sat out front of the store and enjoyed them both. The people sitting next to us were friendly. Great place to relax after hours of sightseeing.

Great place, great location, and great selection of both cigars, wines and beers. I will be back. It is also a great place if you are by your self and just want a spot to sit back and people watch. I highly recommend going here.

As an avid cigar smoker and wine drinker, when traveling, I anxiously look for the venue that will help me enjoy both my addictions. This place has become my home away from home, when away from Smoky’s in Knoxville. Brother Don, Little John, Dustin and Matt will definitely make you feel welcome and loved.

Great place in Charleston. Relax in a old school barber chair, have a beer and a smoke. Met some great people there as well. Great selection of cigars.

Awesome cigar shop. Know their stuff. Outside on the sidewalk smoking my cigar and having an Argentine Gun Dog as I write this.

I hesitate to give this store more than three stars based solely on the fact that the owner (I presume he was the owner; he acted as proprietary as a pit bull) was ruder to my friend and me than any shopkeeper in recent memory. And I write that as someone who lives in New York City. I’m not going to get into specifics, but his behavior was mean-​spirited, lacking any sense of hospitality, and made all the more obnoxious by not one, not two, but three separate attempts to sell us a glass of wine to accompany the cigars we were TAKING TO GO.
All that said, the atmosphere is everything you’d want; the cigar selection is superb (when not being steered by the aforementioned owner toward cigars said owner was clearly trying to offload on tourists); and the espresso was great.
But «Southern hospitality»? Don’t make me laugh. Any hospitality at all was lacking, by any standards.

One of my favorite cigar bars in the grand ol’ USA. Owner is one of the nicest guys you’ll meet. Today I’m having a Perdomo 20^th Anniversary sun grown coupled with a unique Belgium beer, Trapiste #6… both per their recommendation and both are awesome. Best place to hang out with a stogie and a drink while wife is shopping! You can’t mass produce a successful place like this… very boutique. Cheers!

Like Scotty below me said, ever since Club Habana closed this has become my go to cigar spot. Unlike Club Habana they don’t serve liquor, but they do have beer and wine.
They have a good beer selection, quite a few wines by the glass and a room full of wine you can buy by the bottle and drink there, and coffee and espresso by illy. The cigar selection is also good and prices aren’t bad.
They also have several tables on the sidewalk for when the weather is nice, which is great because it’s on a busy street and you can watch the world go by. They also have leather couches and chairs inside as well, and usually live music at night on the weekends.
Great place to hang out and spend the day or hang out when it’s busier at night.
