Colonial Lake has been recently refurbished and I am so happy to see it finally opening back up for public use. Many improvements have been made, such as the benches and wider paved walkway surrounding the lake. It appears to be easily handicap accessible for wheelchairs too. There are still some landscaping and other minor items being completed, but you are welcome to use this area at will now. There is plenty of parking available, but Ashley Avenue is now two-way next to the lake, so take note. There are still plenty of shady areas and a new plaque has been installed on the corner of Ashley and Broad with«the rules». Abide by these so that EVERYONE can have a good time. Bring your lunch, a fishing pole, or just stroll around the lake for exercise. It’s enjoyable no matter from what walk of life you come. Look for some of the old faithfuls to return now such as the remote control boat races, Christmas tree lighting, and other community events.

Construction/renovation is almost complete! New benches, sidewalks, and bike racks are installed. About half of the lake is still blocked off. Great place to walk, sit, or lay out to enjoy Charleston’s beauty.
