History
Established in 2002.
Redux Contemporary Art Center is a nonprofit organization committed to fostering creativity and the cultivation of contemporary art through diverse exhibitions, subsidized studio space for visual artists, meaningful education programs, and a multidisciplinary approach to the dialogue between artists and their audiences.
Redux was founded to answer an overwhelming need for affordable studio space for working artists and a venue for diverse and challenging contemporary art exhibitions in Charleston. The influx of visiting artists into an established community creates a dynamic environment with a multi-disciplinary approach to creating meaningful dialogue between artists and audiences. Redux has the only public print shop and darkroom in the Lowcountry, and through our education, outreach, and intern programs we are training a new generation of artists. Through collaborations with a wide variety of organizations, we seek to educate and grow an informed audience and amplify our impact.
