Established in 1980.

EIU graduates Bob and Therese opened What’s Cookin’ in 1980 on Lincoln Avenue in Charlesto, IL. The tiny restaurant had only 8 tables. In 1985, when they had outgrown the tiny building they rented, they bought the present location at 7th and Madison. The restaurant now has 72 seats and a meeting room for 40. On Saturday-​Wednesday evening you can rent the entire restaurant for your event!

EIU graduates Bob and Therese opened What’s Cookin’ in 1980 on Lincoln Avenue in Charleston, IL. Bob was a marketing major from Brocton, IL. Therese was a Speech communicaton major from Chicago, IL. After finding success on Lincoln Avenue, they moved the restaurant to 7th and Madison in 1985. In addition to their passion for the restaurant business, Bob enjoys skiing and woodworking and Therese is an actor and director who appears at various theaters in the area.
