I actually really like this place. The prices are fair, the food is solid, and the atmosphere is really nice. Don’t expected to be wowed, but if you’re looking for a solid, good meal and maybe a cocktail, Max and Dylans is a safe choice. P.S– avoid their brunch.

Went to M & D’s for brunch this past Sunday. Not so great. Service was good, quick and friendly but the food — meh. For brunch you can no longer order off the menu, it is a buffet only. The scrambled eggs, chicken wings, bacon and strawberry shortcake were all great. Eggs Benedict, mac & cheese(which they are know for), sausages and home fries — just ok. There are better brunches out there. For four people, all who had one cocktail each came out to about $ 25-$ 30 per person.

I still don’t know what to make of this place… The food is probably better than average but nothing to write home about. I’ve never had anything here that was outstanding and in my most recent experience, the Bloody Mary’s were good and the scallops were ridiculously sandy… Don’t go here if you’re looking to impress anyone. A much better alternative is the Navy Yard Bistro about 500 yards down the road.

Buffalo chicken dip and waffle fries were great. Mac and cheese is delicious and creamy. Hamburgers are great as well in homemade rolls. Had mine with the homemade chips. Great food and great service at the bar. Nice atmosphere too.

Came in this past Saturday night around 7. It was surprisingly slow and we were seated right away. Our server was nice and have us plenty of time to look things over. I got the sangria(red) and it was very good! We got the buffalo chicken dip as an app and it was actually amazing. I was not too excited about it when we ordered it, but after one bite I couldn’t get enough of it. I got the steak tips and they were reallly really good. It came with spinach and potato lasagna, so good! I liked the quiet atmosphere too. Yay! Will be coming back!

Was dining alone, so I sat in a booth seat by the bar. Perfectly comfortable and perfect spot to watch the opening of the Olympics. Great food and attentive staff. Great experience overall!

This was a great spot for a quick midweek dinner. My boyfriend and I had been eating out for every meal since moving me into the city(let’s pretend that’s because my apartment’s kitchen was too hot, not because I can’t cook), so we weren’t looking for any place too fancy or expensive. Max and Dylan’s was tasty with a nice casual atmosphere and great service. Both he and I got the mac and cheese on recommendations from the enthusiastic server. It was early enough in the evening, and the place empty enough, that we weren’t pressured to get appetizers or drinks when we just wanted a light dinner. My prosciutto mac and cheese was really good(not a ton of prosciutto, though), as was his buffalo chicken mac and cheese(which had a nice spicy kick). Neither portion was huge, but we didn’t mind. One complaint: The waiter informed us that«due to all the tourists around with the tall ships», they were only providing Poland Spring water bottles at $ 1 a piece; we couldn’t get tap. Pressed on it a bit more he said that it was for the sake of conserving glasses(which makes a little more sense), but I’m still questioning whether that’s actually allowed. The $ 1 didn’t bother me, it just seemed kind of un-classy that everyone had big sports bottles of water instead of glasses…

This place is great… clean, good beers on tap and the menu has something for everyone. I got the filet sliders and they were better than I expected. I starving when I got there, so with that said the portions could have been larger or maybe some french fries or a side option. So the prices are not that great, but you when in the Metro Boston Area that is expected. When I return to Charlestown I will definitely return to Max and Dylan’s.

In a word: Terrible. Underpoured beers, overpriced menu, service that nears incompetence, black flies in the dining room, and food that looks & tastes as though it just came out of a microwave(which, in fairness, it probably has). I’ve had vending-machine sandwiches that gave me more joy than the chicken ranch sandwich that I had here. Bland, boring, dry, awful. One of my dining companions proclaimed his flatbread the worst example of flatbread he’s ever seen — soggy crust, mushy ingredients, and strange aftertaste. If you have a soul and do not wish it to be crushed by a dining experience that reaches toward hell itself, avoid, avoid, avoid Max & Dylan’s.

I had dinner here with a bunch of friends on Saturday Night. We had been out all evening shooting at the USS Constitution and looking for a place to have dinner. This is a very nice restaurant but they have to TURNUPTHELIGHTS. We were forced to use our mobile phones to read the menu! Aside from that, our waitress was Awesome — great personality and very attentive to our needs. We had fried Calamari as an appetizer and a variety of entrees. All were very happy with their choices. Menu prices were very reasonable. AND they had Guinness on tap! If you’re in Charlestown or visiting the Navy Yard, this is a great restaurant.

I am someone who likes a good deal. I have season tickets to the Bruins(in the last row), park at the Nautica Parking garage down the street for $ 5, and get a pre game meal at this fine establishment because they give 25% off the food if you show them your ticket. Its better food, better prices, and way less waiting than any place on Canal Street. I have had every sandwich and none of them disappoint. My favorites are the fried Haddock and Tune burger.

Overpriced and cheap ingredients! I got the normal Mac and Cheese and was very disappointed in it. The portion was INCREDIBLY small for paying $ 12+. There was less than ¾ cup of food. Well, you would thing, at least the cheese will be high quality. This is not true ATALL. It was Velveeta cheese with some pasta, and the meal couldn’t have cost them more than $ 0.12 cents. Oh wait, maybe $.014 since it was covered in breadcrumbs. I am very disappointed having paid so much for such a cheap meal. I hope they read this and give me a free drink or something. What a waste of money1

My husband has been dying to take me here after he had lunch with his coworkers and had«the best mac and cheese of my life». We went and had the calamari for appetizer. The description doesn’t do it justice. You think that harvest grape tomatoes and banana peppers will be an odd combination, but it compliments the crisp calamari very well. We missed that the aioli wasn’t a side but drizzled over the top(very sparingly), but after a few bites, we forgot about it… We both ordered my husband’s recommendation(and what he came back for): lobster mac and cheese. It came out hot and the portion size is decent for the price, but I was a little disappointed. Maybe my husband built it up too much… but I was expecting more of the cheesy goodness I associate with mac and cheese and bigger chunks of lobster. But don’t get me wrong, it still tasted good.

So let me start by saying the food here is mostly meh(i.e., 2 stars), but the place is nice and the service is OUTSTANDING! Especially if you have children. This was a perfect place for us to go with another family that has a child with significant food allergies. Our waitress was courteous, knowledgeable and really bent over backwards to make everyone happy. The location and ambiance are also nice(both the dining room and bar). M&D also is a great place to catch a game(they have 7 screens!). Anyhow…I’ll probably be back. P. S. Their mac and cheese is just ok and their sliders are a bit too dry.

On a recent trip to Boston, I met up with a couple of friends here. One of them recommended it as a great place to grab a few appetizers and drinks. I completely agree. The place was relatively busy, especially the bar area. There was a section to the restaurant with a large number of tables and then a section by the bar with booths and barside seating. We were promptly seated and the waitress was very attentive to us the entire time. Drinks: I had the mango mojito. I would have loved it if there was real mango, but nonetheless, the drink was good. It had mango-flavored vodka with mint. You could easily go through a couple of these($ 9 a pop!) over a short period of time. Food: We had three dishes that we shared: 1. Waffle fries with cheddar cheese and jalapenos. Dish was ok. Nothing spectacular, but good. 2. BBQ Pork Sliders. For the northeast, I thought these were prepared well. Not dripping with BBQ sauce and tender. Living in the South for many years now, I am probably a little critical, but I was satisfied. 3. Buffalo chicken mac and cheese. This was great! I could have eaten this as a meal. The chicken tenders were deep fried with a tasty buffalo-bbq type sauce and mixed into the mac and cheese. This place apparently is known for their mac and cheeses. I can see why. There are several to choose from with all different combinations, including a lobster mac and cheese I will try next time. Prices are a little up there, but it is a classy place. I would definitely consider returning when back in the area.

Momma K taught me early that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all; so I will refrain. However, in passing — on my way to class yesterday — I noted a sign proclaiming 25% off your meal if you are holding same-day Bruins tickets. So, if you: 1. Have Bruins tickets 2. Like Max and Dylan’s You’re in luck! Unfortunately, we can’t be friends. Crhappy Dining! [Oops, sorry mom.]

We stopped in here on a Friday evening and were surprised to see how many young families were in. I’m talking every other table with a child under 5. That didn’t bother us so much since my wife runs a children’s store, but it was an interesting thing to see on a Friday around 6pm. The food was great and very reasonably priced. Waitress was prompt and polite. Overall we had a great experience. I’d say the only downside was the awkward position on a busy street corner. Outside seating isn’t really that great given both the car and foot traffic moving back and forth between Charlestown and the North End. On another note, the bar is quite adult and I do plan to make a trip back here specifically to check the bar out.

I can’t help but imagine a glimpse in the kitchen would show anything more than Sterno warmed aluminum roasting dishes full of bland, overpriced food. Order, scoop, next. A first and only visit to the Charlestown location yielded a heavily seeded, poorly prepared blackberry mojito($ 10), a cold — as in «pulled from the walk-in» cold — buffalo chicken dip with greasy chips($ 9.50) and two lackluster entrees. My Kobe meatball sliders($ 12) tasted like slightly beefy nothing with the texture of damp cotton, and her proscuitto mac & cheese with truffle oil($ 13) lacked salt and had the congealed plating of a middle school hot lunch. The service is accommodating enough, rushing the cold dip back to the kitchen and returning with a hot, possibly microwaved and stirred replacement. She seemed in a permanent state of apology, used to recovering napkin-topped dishes with more than half the meal dissected and spread around the surface. The ambiance is bleak, with cookie-cutter photography on the walls and conflicting design elements that may have been conceptualized during Take Your Daughter(or Son!) To Work Day. I could get past this, but at this stage, I’m grasping for redeeming qualities. Points for never being completely packed. Two stars for the reasons why.

For work, this was the restaurant we chose for our Christmas dinner. We had to wait for everyone to show up so a few drinks were had at the bar, and my boss even was able to carry his tab over to the bill, so that was pretty cool. We had made reservations for 7PM and it was like we had never called. Kind of sad really, but it wasn’t over ly packed in the restaurant area, so we were seated without an issue. The food was good, they have some interesting appetizers such as the buffalo chicken dip and oven roasted goat cheese. I got the standard Steak Tips which were not bad but didn’t stand out too much. The wait staff was pretty good but had to ask us a few times about our drinks. They were nice about everything though, which can always make up for little things like that. I’d say we enjoyed our night overall, especially on the company dime!

Went here for a friend’s bday lunch celebration. Ordered calamari and pear salad for appetizer. For entrees we shared Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese, the Lobster Mac and Cheese, and Toasted parma Proscuitto. The only thing I was able to eat was the seafood. I’ve had better calamari, it didn’t have much taste to it. For the Mac and Cheese, I don’t think it was too awesome. I actually liked the pear salad out of all the entrees which is pretty bad because you can’t really cook much for the salad. The wait staff was really polite and accommodating; and very friendly. The food wasn’t great enough for me to trek over here from Boston. It was good but wasn’t great. It was more of a eyy feeling. Unless your in the area, its a convenient nice restaurant to go to with work buddies but I prefer to stay in Boston.
