7th Annual Beards BeCAUSE Finale Party

Love seeing this great cause grow each and every year. New events, new growers and even more facial hair. One would have to assume there’s some more annoyed significant others on that last part, eh?
The cause: Jared Yerg and Scott Doerr started this concept back in 2007. Since then, Beards BeCAUSE has raised more than $ 250,000 for local battered women’s shelter. Along with nine weeks of growing, nine weeks of fun events all benefiting the cause. Happy hours, wine dinners, comedy shows, fitness classes, parties, etc.
The grand finale: this year Neighborhood Theatre played host. This was the first time I’ve been inside since the remodel. Looks so much better. I have to say this is my favorite venue that BB has used for their finale party. I hope they consider a repeat here next year.
Chasing Pedestrians and Grown Up Avenger Stuff ROCKED the stage, That Guy Smitty spinning in between sets. The silent auction items were tremendous. Great stuff from local businesses like Heist, Mac’s, NoDa Yoga, Simulcra Photography scored two $ 50 gift cards. One of the most sought after items: a $ 500 US Airways gift card. At one point, a girl was sitting on the clipboard trying to hide it. Absolutely hysterical.
Various awards are given to participants. Hair stylists are on hand with barber chairs to provide some creative cuts to these bearded wonders.
The finale party is always a blast and helps such a great cause. Cheers to Jared, Scott and Wendy on yet another successful fundraising season.
