Im not returning. Dr Martin is a very rude arrogant individual. He was very rude to his staff and yelled at them the entire 2 hours I was in the chair. Him and I even went back and forth because I brought it to his attention. Lastly, I wanted him to correct some work he did on my front tooth and he got really irritated and mentioned I cant tell him about cosmetic dentistry because hes been in the business 30 plus years. If so, my corrected tooth would have been straight and not on a slant. Dr. Martin really needs to check his attitude or hes not gonna be in business much longer. Oh his work was so-​so for him to be so confident and in the business 30 plus years! I wouldnt recommend his practice if your looking for a pleasant dental experience.

I visited Art Dentistry in January… The hygienist was welcoming, friendly, and did a great job making me feel comfortable (I have a lot of anxiety around dental visits). Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the Dr. When he came to do his exam there was no ‘hey, how are you?’ Or ‘nice to meet you’… Strictly business. I think I got MAYBE 5 words out of him. Once he was done with his exam, he got up and left. He did not take any time to explain any further treatment necessities, but instead passed it off to the hygienist to answer (at least she was nice, but it would have been nice to hear it from the doctor). Can’t deny that they did a good job, but the bedside manner is lacking and that’s just something I can’t get past. I won’t be back.

I was scared for many years to go to the dentist so finally went well it wasn’t as bad I received filings and later that’s when it went all wrong my teeth hurt more now then ever 8months later I still can’t eat or drink hot or cold items my teenage son brought his filing to me in his hand and my mother was also railroaded now I got a bill for almost 1000 dollars come to find out they don’t accept my cigna which is on of the best insurance which they should of known that when I gave them my card not just one visit but 3 horrible experience never again

BE SMART! DON’T GO TO ART! I am new to Charlotte and responded to a mailer. If you care to be treated like a human being and be informed regarding what is going on with YOUR body, as I do, this IS NOT the place for you. This dentist has some sort of ego issue and perhaps some level of Aspergers Syndrome and refuses to take the time to say «hello» to his «subject in the chair» much less answer a question or GOD FORBID provide some sort of unsolicited information about what the heck he is doing. He hires very friendly dental hygienists who, I suppose, are an attempt to make up for his SEVERE lack of bedside manner or respect. Sorry Doc… That doesn’t cut it. There are A LOT of choices out there. You are going to have to do better than what you are currently doing… or, for your sake, I hope you have some other talent that can earn you an income… Because you won’t make it. This was a ONE TIME and DONE for me. AND, I am off to another dentist to repair the issues you caused (with a fun little root canal) by drilling to deep during a filling. Thanks. I was in your chair for 1.5 hours for TWO FILLINGS which is ludicrous. You got angry/​frustrated with me because I could not PHYSICALLY open my mouth any wider. unless you wanted to break my jaw… AND you spent much of that 1.5 hours next door to another patient you were doing mouth surgery on at the same time and working on them… ONE AT A TIME PLEASE! Yeesh! Seriously? HOW DO YOU NOT HAVE THAT AS YOUR REGULAR PRACTICE?! Your absence may have a little something to do with why I needed more and more AND MORE shots of anesthetic! … by the time you FINALLY came back in the room to continue your work on me it was wearing off! I WISH I HAD READ YOUR REVIEWS BEFORE I CAME IN! (I learned my lesson.) Oh, and congratulations… YOU were ridiculous enough to motivate to write my first EVER review… (I have been blessed with wonderful dentists throughout my life up until this visit. such a disappointment.) … I took down this post because I thought if you change your ways that I didn’t want to follow you. But I am in severe pain right now and had to call my childhood dentist to get an anabiotic for my tooth infection. You did not answer the number that I called for the emergency. And the mailbox was full and no longer accepting messages… All day. Thanks for making your patience a priority.

Dr. Martin is the most arrogant person I’ve ever met in the medical profession. My initial x-​rays and exam with his dental hygienist and who found 1000’s of dollars of needed dental work, from root canals, crowns, extractions and six cavities etc. Then Dr Martin walked in and looked at her recommendations, agreed with them and then asked me if I have any questions, I said yes, then he said… well ask her (hygienist) and walked out of the office. I then stated to the Hygienist that this amount of work is an incredible amount and I need a second opinion, but I will authorize the cleaning for the following week.
As I drove home, I kept thinking of Dr Martin’s arrogance that I as a new patient who he has never met before, would not answer my question (s) and deferred me to his hygienist, especially when there are 1000’s of dollars at stake. I decided not only am I getting a 2^nd opinion but b/​c of his level of arrogance and how condescending his behavior was, it made me think I should canx my cleaning with his office.
The follow day his staff (Heather) called me and left me a voicemail and canceled my cleaning appointments for the following week and further stated that b/​c the Hygienist told Dr Martin I want a 2^nd opinion, that Mr Martin feels that I don’t have confidence in his opinion and I am no longer welcome at their clinic (yes I kept the voicemail as it’s my hope it goes viral). Interestingly enough, 1) He wouldn’t answer my questions and told me to talk to his hygentist and 2) Why would I trust him with my health and 1000’s of dollars when I only met him once and for 10 seconds and 3) Every medical profession states and supports 2^nd opinions. Yet, this arrogant and condescending dentist with an ego the size of Texas will refuse you treatment if you ask for a 2^nd opinion or challenge either he or his Hygienist with the word WHY or the phrase «help me understand why».
So I did get a 2^nd opinion and it turns out after a new set of x-​rays, that my new dentist simply could not find four of the cavities that Dr Martin’s hygienist said I had (that Dr. Martin) also confirmed. I actually had to give the new dentist Dr Martin’s treatment plan to show where Dr Martin said I had the cavities. My current Dentist looked again and said the other cavities he has documented simply do not exist.
So good riddance and the fact that he’s offended over a patient asking for a 2^nd opinion is just down right disgusting. Also, check him out on

I went to Dr Martin for several years and was OK with the arrangement due to I felt he did excellent work for reasonable prices – all the while accepting the personality because when it comes down to dr/​patient relationship – i’m not there to be his friend. His staff made up for his lack of patient relationship for many years, but I think there have been changes in the practice and things have just gotten too busy which has magnified the situation. My first thought of leaving was when he got up and left the room during my appt (during a procedure) to take a phone call about another patient.
I feel like it is pretty basic respect that drs or dentists should not leave the room during an exam or procedure to handle something else. It is MY turn and my time I waited for.
That evening I experienced a lot pain I was not expecting (or made aware I should expect) after the numbing agents wore off that woke me up in the night. I called back the next day to discuss it and another problem I noticed that happened during my procedure. My concerns were taken by the assistant that was in the room during my procedure, I was later called back by the assist, and the complaints went pretty much dismissed. I was not happy, but let it slide due to I’d been there many years and this was the first problem.
On my last cleaning, the hygienist was reviewing my results with Dr Martin and mentioned some things I felt of surprise and concern. He started to get up and take off for the next patient, so I stopped him and asked him to explain. He said, «she can explain it to you» and left the room. She could not explain it thoroughly but gave me some pamphlets. This is not acceptable for me. I don’t care how good the work is – if you are working on live people – then part of being a dentist is taking the time to discuss with the patient about their dental health. I don’t think this is too much to expect of a provider that normally only sees a patient twice a year.
My last two visits, it just felt too rushed (phones calls and staff constantly sticking their heads in discussing other patients while he’s trying to care for me) with the only substantial patient communication being carried for him by the support staff. It’s a shame because I feel Dr Martin does really good work but needs to get back to some basics and slow down. Just not for me anymore.

Wow!!! You would think after all these negative reviews on this app that you would do a little self reflection but I see your ego is too big for that. I guess you’re going with the argument «it’s them, not me!“The manner in which you responded speaks volumes of your character. Do you think I would be asking for numbing cream if I couldn’t feel anything!!! Tell me what I have to gain from that!!! Really?!! What YOU forget to mention is that yes, you did numb my gums for the first two fillings but because you were running back and forth between me and other patients the numbing was wearing off. And I don’t call me simply letting you know I was having sensitivity «complaining»!!! I appreciate you saving my tooth and my rating was not on your work… it’s your attitude and lack of professionalism and rudeness as seen in your response. I am well aware of the fact that I waited too long to get my crown but the difference between me and you as that I am willing to admit when I am wrong. Btw you might want to get back to your patient before their numbing wears off!

The shame of it is that I understand Dr Martin does beautiful work. That’s why I drove 40 minutes from Concord to see him. But I will never be back. Chairside manner to patients, at least to this patient, counts. And while his staff that responds to negative reviews calls them «character attacks», it seems to me that if multiple people have remarked that Dr is rude… well, when there’s smoke, there’s fire.
I have visited the office twice, once for a hygiene appointment, and once to have a crown re-​cemented. On both occasions I endured both his gruff manner to a patient (ME) and his berating of his staff.
While waiting for him to come into the operatory to re-​cement the crown on the second visit, I actually heard him grumbling «great, I love having to re-​cement a crown on someone else’s implant» as he was approaching. And to top it off, he berated the assistant because she didn’t get him the piece of articulating paper in the 1.5 seconds he gave her to do it.
The staff is wonderful, and I truly feel badly that they endure this sort of treatment, and get verbally undressed in front of patients.

I agree with Tom, and somewhat with JT; while the Dr. is talented and updated he needs to work on his people skills, and his prices. I saw some sign that said something like Walmart prices, but Neiman Marcus quality. There was a 6k price difference on a quote from him and someone else, the other place was cheaper and just as modern. You’ll feel like a number until you get out of the chair, staff is nice, but that don’t make up for it.
He actually walked in to a room with a sandwich in his hand to check on my relative that needed something, she never returned, and neither will I. He was going to replace a filling for $ 350, she doesn’t have dental.
While we’re on it my dental insurance has a deductible and still only pays 1k a year.
What’s up with that, through my wife’s employer.

You will be so disappointed with this dentist. He is rough, rude and impersonal. I’m a guy and can take pain, but this dentist needs some lessons in bedside manner. Not only was he barking orders at me, he was rude to his assistants and I really felt bad for them.
The office itself has a lot of neat «toys» but I am sure that is all courteous of his patients.
Save yourself the agony and avoid this dentist.

Great dentist and great people! The office is located in South Park close to the mall. I have been going here for years and all of the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.
The office is very classy and state of the art. The exam chairs massage your back and you are given a remote for the TV that hovers above your head so you can watch whatever you want while you get your check-​up/​teeth cleaned. All of their equipment is new and up to date.
Again, very knowledgeable and professional dentist office with extremely friendly staff. A+++!!!
