Specialties
Bill Spoon’s Barbecue has been serving its award winning Eastern North Carolina style barbecue since 1963.
Our barbecue is authentic in its Eastern North Carolina style. Our barbecue is served with homemade vinegar based barbecue sauce and our coleslaw is mustard based. We cook the whole pig and hand chop the meat because we know barbecue is just better that way. Other popular items on our menu include our hearty Brunswick stew, made-from-scratch hushpuppies, homemade banana pudding and the best sweet tea around. Items rounding out our menu include barbecue chicken, fried flounder, chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, barbecue potatoes, baked beans, mac and cheese, onion rings and french fries.
Come on by or give us a call for takeout, delivery or catering. We’d love for you to join us for a meal!
History
Established in 1963.
Current owner, Steve Spoon’s grandfather, Bill Spoon, founded Spoon’s BBQ in 1963 when South Boulevard was a two-lane country road named Pineville Road. Since then, a lot has changed, but our recipes are still original and our true southern hospitality has remained the same.
Papaw, as Steve called him, taught Steve most of what he knows. He taught Steve the in and outs of cooking the barbecue to perfection and the importance of consistency through the food we serve. He taught Steve how to run the business, from the kitchen to the cash register. But most importantly, he taught Steve to treat the customers the way he would want to be treated. We strive to make each meal a memorable one, and the Spoon family grows with each new customer who walks through our doors.
