History

Established in 1995.

Brian Davies rented a small shop near downtown Charlotte, off College Street in the old City Toyota dealership. Thus, in 1995, Body Works Plus was born. His father, colonel Joseph Davies, came to work with him and they grew the business on reputation and referrals, which is still the foundation of Body Works Plus. Several years later they purchased the current location in NoDa. Brian continues to grow and currently has 12 members of the Body Works Plus team, delivering 1,500 cars per year. The collision industry is something he enjoys doing and excites him to come to the shop everyday. It’s also what he does best. He’s chosen this industry because he feels he can use his talent, experience, passion, knowledge, drive, and desire to help people to repair cars correctly at a fair price.

Business Owner

I’m Brian Davies, founder and owner of Body Works Plus. I started in the body shop industry as a young teenager, working at Ski’s Auto World in Fayetteville, NC, a shop my father co-​owned. I started as the low man in the shop, doing odd jobs: sanding, taping, buffing, picking up parts, and anything I could do to learn the business.

By high school I worked afternoons, weekends, and full time during the summer. I learned all aspects of the business — body, paint, mechanical, and frame repair — but my passion was painting and I enjoyed it most.

I attended college to become a mechanical engineer in Charlotte, but still worked holidays and weekends in the shop, often for friends from school. After college I worked for INA, a large German bearing manufacturer in Fort Mill, SC, while continuing to repair cars for friends and coworkers. After 10 years in the bearing manufacturing and design industry, I decided to step out on my own.

After experiencing a rear-​end collision two weeks before Christmas — the busiest time of year for many auto repair places — I was desperate to get my barely-​driveable car into a body shop for repairs. Someone at Woodie’s on McDowell Street recommended that I call Brian Davies at Body Works Plus, and I’m so glad I did.
From the start, Brian was amazing, understanding and so accommodating. He let me bring my car in that same day, even though the shop was about to close. I ended up battling the insurance company for a solid month before they declared my car totaled. Brian was an invaluable resource for that entire month, despite the fact that the shop didn’t profit from a repair process.
He we was always quick to answer the phone or call me back if I left a message, and went above and beyond to explain exactly what was wrong with my car, why the insurance company rejected the initial estimate, and what I could do to make sure I was being given a fair value for my total loss. He made a special call to a local dealer so they could run numbers for me when I wanted to argue that my total loss amount wasn’t enough, and when I finally did settle, he offered to hook me up with another dealer who owed him a favor so I could get a great price on a new car.
As a woman in my mid-​20s who doesn’t know much about cars and had never dealt with a total loss, an insurance issue or the process of buying a new car before, I was very overwhelmed. Brian treated me like I was his own daughter, educated me on an unfamiliar process and answered a TON of questions. He was a huge support throughout the whole ordeal. I would 100% recommend this body shop and Brian Davies… he’s a stand-​up guy!

The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is because they didn’t actually do any work for us. The customer service was fantastic. Brian was very direct and honest — which included referring me to a detail outfit. This business will be our go-​to for body repair work.

EXCELLENT customer service and I am the classic difficult-​to-​please customer. Not to mention the awesome price! I was told I needed a new bumper for my Range Rover for $ 1,400 at another place. Found this place on ANGIES LIST and they fixed it for $ 116!!! Amazing! Highly recommended. Go here first. They are recommended by ANGIES LIST and AAA.

I can’t give a review on their work since I never took my car there, which is why I’m giving two stars. After a week of calling multiple times and hearing «I’ll call you right back» I gave up and took my business somewhere else. Thanks for wasting a week of my time while I drove around in a smashed up car.

Body Works is one of the best businesses I’ve ever dealt with. Even with all of my frustration after a minor crash, the owner was patient with me and helped me with my car. He knew I wasn’t getting it fixed there (as I had to drive to Ohio) but was honest, friendly and helpful and even recommended some shops in Ohio. I almost canceled my trip back just to get my car fixed here. Great shop!

I would highly recommend Body Works Plus to anyone in the Charlotte area that is in need of body work. My experience with Brian, MeLisa and the rest of the staff was very positive. They were friendly, courteous, and professional. My final bill was was completely in line with what was originally quoted… i.e. no «hidden fees» or extras. My vehicle was ready in the time they estimated it would be. They have an option to text you along the way to keep you informed of the status of your vehicle. They detailed the car for me as well, which was a very nice gesture.

Unfortunately I have had to have body work done twice. Fortunately I found out about Body Works Plus. The staff, the customer service, the quality of work is outstanding. When the second situation happen, I didn’t even hesitate… I said, «Body Works Plus does the work on my car. Nobody wants to be doing business at a body shop for the most part but these folks make it a pleasure. You get text updates on the status of your vehicle and they work with insurance to make the process painless. Don’t hesitate to get your work done here if your car gets a boo-​boo

one of the best body shops i have ever used. My car was handled very quickly and professionally… returned spotless and fully detailed. it was an effortless process for sure.
They are not that bodyshop that will throw things together, use aftermarket or used parts behind your back… first quality all the way.
i met the owner Brian and he was very kind and attentive… he is a true professional and understand this business and will quide you at every step.

When I had a tree fall on my car I was in between work contracts and insurance wouldn’t cover all of the damages. By some sort of I was refereed to BWP. After talking with the owner, Brian, most of my worries were over. He was very reasonable about getting my car fixed up all the way for a price that was within my insurance limit.
Thanks to BWP, my car looks brand new, just like it did before a tree fell on and I don’t have to take the bus to my new job! The customer care his above and beyond that of any body shop I have been to before.
