Description

Specialties

Braitman Studio offers serious art instruction to adults and teens. Founded in 1995, we currently offer a broad range of weekly classes, 3 to 5 annual workshops, and a biannual painting trip abroad. Currently, approximately 150 artists paint here weekly.

Our instructors cater to the individual, while emphasizing the mechanics of painting and drawing. The goal of our «process» driven program is to develop each person’s artistic individuality. «If you are true to the process, the product will be good,» says studio owner Andy Braitman. «The painting process is a genuine and passionate exploration of the mechanics of painting.

The studio offers a variety of classes including landscape, figure drawing, portrait painting, and small «5:1» classes where students receive highly personalized instruction. Classes for teens include directed studies to prepare portfolios for college and classes not always available in school art classes.

History

Established in 1995.

Andy Braitman made the decision to open Braitman Studio in Charlotte, N.C. in 1995. The school started with one adult and one teen class, and has grown to about 15 classes and approximately 120 — 150 artists and students. Andy has been surprised at the enjoyment he has found in teaching. His students praise «his many geniuses” — his ability to bring out each individual’s own artistic style, his expertise in teaching drawing, his ability to work with students at all levels, and the encouragement and support he gives to every student.

Andy is a celebrated artist with many years of experience in the art world, and has chosen and trained a team of teachers to enhance each student’s studio experience. Our approach is sophisticated, yet comprehensive, sharing the joy of painting with new painters while also enriching and expanding the experience of advanced painters. Even exhibiting painters seem to find value in our environment.
