Charlotte Regional Farmers Market

Love the farmers market. I come to get fresh produce here frequently. For certain things it is definitely cheaper to purchase here. There is a vendor who sells apple cider that I just love. Go early on the weekend to get the full experience because that is when the most vendors come out, you can even purchase grass fed meat!

cool place to visit on a Saturday. Make sure you come in early before 11 or 12 noon. The prices are a little high than I would like but thats what you pay for fresh food! The meat vendors are friendly and explain the source of meat — some of the best meat I have purchased came from here. I like that the market caters to everyone, including the international community by having vegetables that are usually not found in a general grocery store.

My kiddos and I went for the first time today and loves it. There were tons of produce vendors as expected and the fruits and veggies we bought were delicious. I also bought a beautiful beaded necklace and earring set for $ 56. The arts and craft area was small and most of it was a bit country but the jewelry was boutique quality.
I wish there was a section with at least a few food trucks because we came hungry and the only lunch for sale was from a hot dog stand. Yuck! We settled on snacking on kettle corn and making a fresh veggie platter when we got home.
There was a large area that sold plants. The plants looked healthy but varied wildly in price. I saw a huge fern for sale for $ 8 and then a few stalls down a tiny fern for $ 6. Strange.
My favorite vendors sold fresh flowers that were outstanding! I buy fresh flowers every week and these were much better than the typical grocery store selection. I bought a huge bunch for $ 10.
Overall, we loved it and will be back. Plus side — wonderful produce selection and flowers. Wish list — add more crafts that don’t look like something from grandma’s house and add food trucks! We would have stayed longer and spent more money if there was a place to eat and buy lunch.
Tips — bring cash and get there early. We arrived at noon and some vendors were packing up already.

This Farmer’s market exceeded my expectations, with a smörgåsbord of fruits, veggies, flowers, wines, wood for smoking, and seafood. I think the prices are a little less than what you’ll find at the grocery store, but predictably far more fresh. You also get the human interaction with members of local family farms ringing up your order. No idea whether any of this food is natural or organic, blah blah blah, but it sure does taste great.
My favorite are the flowers, which you can buy a pre made bouquet or get a custom made bunch. You NEED to get here early, as many of the vendors pack up and leave around 1:00, leaving the place about ¹⁄₃ full. I was also happy to find a bag of garlic that was already peeled. Maybe ½ lb. for $ 2. Some of the sweetest corn I’ve had in awhile was bought here as well. Many of the vendors have the same food, but there are unique items such as bitter melons that are more common in other countries.
Long story short, get your produce here instead of the grocery story.

This is one of the best Farmer’s Markets I’ve been to (and I’m from the land of the best one in the country). I like the ones that have more than just produce; it gives those of us who are traveling more options. Many stands have samples. Besides the expected produce, there was local wine, pastries, bread, herb mixes, jams, gourmet salts, and crafts. I was there around 11:00 on a Saturday morning and found it odd that several vendors were packing up for the day (it opened at 8:00). So I guess get there early… unless there is some kind of switch off for the afternoon hours? Not sure how many vendors are there during the week. Bring cash; ATM is on site if you forget.
I am disappointed that this isn’t at the top of the «things to do in Charlotte» lists that are out there. I actually had to look up «farmers markets» to find its existence.

I work so close to the farmers market and have only been here twice! I need to keep coming back, fresh produce at a great rate, beautiful bundle of flowers for $ 8 – 10, you name it it’s probably here for any walk of life. Fresh seafood, organic veggies, grassfed beef, scented candles, delicious pastries, I need to make this a weekend visit with the fam there is just so much to explore. It’s clean considering the location and parking isn’t a pain like other farmer’s markets I’ve visited. If you have the time definitely check this location out.

I can’t believe that I’ve lived in Charlotte for most of the last nine years (two years, I was in the UK) and I never went to this market. Heck, during my first three years in Charlotte I lived a half mile from this place. What a fool I was!
We decided to get up reasonably early on Saturday and arrived at the market at about 9:00 AM. It was quite busy even this early but we managed to find a decent parking space. And then we started making our way through the sheds. So many choices!
Fresh meats. Fresh eggs. Lots of tomatoes. Green vegetables. Fresh fish. Potatoes. Cilantro. Bread. Jams. Oh, my. I hit the ATM (only a $ 1.50 surcharge!) and we filled a shopping bag with stuff for dinner. Fresh trout, potatoes and broccoli. Just amazing. And the prices? Quite decent.
Some vendors take credit cards, but most are cash only.
Yep, it was our first visit. But it won’t be the last!

This place was huge! Most of the produce was reasonably priced. There was a great selection and diverse/​obscure items, which I love!

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years. I’m happy to see how much this market has grown along with Charlotte’s own expansion over the years. It truly reflects how sophisticated and cosmopolitan the tastes of our fellow Charloteans have become. There is something here for everyone. Saturday is the main day to come when all the vendors are here and all 4 sheds are open. Come early for the best selection, since the first barn closes at noon with several vendors leaving earlier as they sell out. There is produce abounding, most local, but some vendors do bring in the same things you would find in the grocery store from all over. Additionally, see many items you’ve never seen before or would have to get from a specialty or ethnic grocer. Find local dairy products, meat, and seafood. Fresh baked goods? Yes, it’s here. Local jams and other food products, cut flowers, too. The greenery shed houses nursery plants of all types. I understand what used to be the craft barn is now full and includes both crafts and food items. I haven’t been there yet to confirm. Definitely a Charlotte experience!

Great selection of fresh produce (NC strawberries, SC blueberries, heirloom tomatoes etc.). Vendors are really helpful and knowledgeable. One of my favorite vendors sells herbs and vegetables to plant in your garden. There is also a fish vendor, a few stands selling baked goods and a couple of tables selling beautiful flower arrangements. Prices are super cheap– fifty cents for a bunch of cilantro, a dollar for a bag of 6 – 8 jalapenos, $ 3.50 for a pint of fresh strawberries. I also like the unusual items that are sold here, like dragon fruit, baby eggplants, shishito peppers, and bitter melon.
I try to pick out recipes I want to make every weekend before I come to the market, but I usually end up veering off my list and just getting whatever looks the best. I’ve never bought something here that was rotten or spoiled; everything has always tasted great. I also love that they are open on Sundays starting in May!

First time to the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market.
Must come early to get all the greens for they go fast. Was here at 11:30 AM during the weekend and many items sold out.
Lots of good buys that may be hard to find in the local supermarket. Products are fresher too. Found lots of herbs like parsley, cilantro, basil and ginger.
There were free bread sample, and honey to sample. Will be back next weekend to check out the craft area.

Oh, no, no. Coming from two places with an abundance of farmer’s markets — D.C. and L.A. — I’m used to expansive spaces (outdoors, too) with food and crafts stretching as far as the eye can see. (Definitely hit up the Hollywood Farmer’s Market on Sundays in L.A. if you can — you will LOVE it!) This farmer’s market is in a metal warehouse and has probably about 15 stalls. The atmosphere was really spartan/​bare and there weren’t a lot of people roaming around because this place is open every day (well, at least the hours are a plus) and probably they were busier earlier in the week. Though I did go on a Saturday — it should have been hopping.
Super disappointing overall. However, I cannot comment on the actual quality of the wares since I didn’t try anything, and I also went in January, so it’s probably a lot better during other times of the year (esp. looking at other people’s reviews). You can be done with the whole market in about five minutes.

I came by off season so I know the produce is not local or seasonal. The prices cannot be beat! Parsley and cilantro bunches for under a dollar are a steal as usually herbs in large bunches are $ 2 – 3. I got spinach, spring mix, leaf lettuce, vidalia onions that became French onion soup. I grabbed a dozen eggs, a huge jar of NC honey, a half gallon of NC cider to drink hot. I can’t wait to see the summer version of this market. In the meantime, I’ll be there buying up the herbs and honey!

This is my favorite market in Charlotte. Get there early on Saturdays for artisan cheeses, fresh bread, local meat and of course produce for days.
Flowers are the real «get» here– gorgeous and gigantic bouquets that are always fairly priced.
Also, a craft barn and plant building if that is your speed.
I go for the best chicken, beef and fish in the area. Nothing beats local and fresh.
Truly a place to make lasting relationships with local farmers.
Also, empanadas and fresh pasta are not to be missed.
Some produce vendors in the covered barn are not local but these are easy to spot — if that matters to you. Tons of parking and worth the trip.

I was just there. I didn’t see any farmers, so I was a bit disappointed to say the least. What I did see is a lot of hipster moms with their little hipster babies wrapped in giant baby bandannas or sarongs or whatever else the hell they use to lash their spawn to their back. It practically put me off my locally sourced, locally grown, blah.blah.blah.
This place was pretty awesome I must admit. Tons of stuff to choose from. An insane array of fruits and vegetables. If you don’t mind getting shoved around by 75 year old Hindi women to get to your sprouts, then you will be fine. I noticed a dying man offering passersby peaches and though rather alarming, one could almost call it sweet.
Some weird little guy chatted up my nightmarishly hot girlfriend about coconut fiber for like 6 hours. If i wasn’t so spiritually and emotionally evolved, I might have held him down and chewed his tongue off Midnight Express style, but I didn’t. I made believe I was looking at succulents and had myself a quiet cry.
The crafts area was pretty cool as well, if not a bit overpriced. But most of it was made with organic screwdrivers and locally sourced wood glue, so come on. 95 dollars for a cutting board is pretty reasonable.
All the vegetables we purchased were pretty phenomenal, so I have no complaints. I would definitely go again, and again… and again.

Ah, the season is finally here. My golf clubs have been locked up in storage for all of winter and actually, most of spring (#job). But, the time has come. At the crack of dawn, I eagerly grab my golf bag and skip down the hall. Hell yeah, Farmers Market time! Golfing is a front — «Oh I visited this beautiful course way out yonder and just happened to stop by for some fresh honey, amazing grapefruits, and this wreath made of flowers — look, you can water it, nurture it, talk to it… and it grows! Plants are rad.»
If I didn’t have such obligations (#job), this place could almost become a Saturday ritual. WOW. Y’all are witnessing a boy turned into an old man.
. But you know what, it’s worth it. The cool part about it is talking to the people. They got some unbelievable stories. To whet the appetite: espionage, JFK, jail, sauce, ad nauseum. Grab that cup of McD coffee (I’m not a purist, sue me) and do a little shopping and gabbing it up with the farmers (#misplacedmancard). Ain’t nothing wrong with a man tellin’ another man to try his pickle juice… no sir, it ain’t.
Grab some fresh mini-​donuts being prepared right before your eyes on that well-​engineered piece of steel machinery patented for its purpose — frying mini donuts on both sides. Try a sample of the amazement that is muscadine drink. Smell the candles.
So, abandon the golf clubs, throw on some comfortable slippers, and let’s ritual.

I should start by saying that I came here on Tuesday. There weren’t a whole lot of vendors set up but I was saddened by how many of the ones who were there weren’t even selling local produce. They had produce that was even target brand that was being sold and garlic from China etc.
They did have some local options but not many. I will have to go back on a weekend and see if the options are any different and update my review accordingly.

I really enjoyed my first visit here over the weekend. There are several vendors and selections from a slew of farms from around the area. Personally I liked the fact I could get fresh chickens (whole) and other farm grown local beef, etc. The produce is abundant as well but you have to really watch where they are coming from. I noticed a few farms with produce from Florida, etc. I understand there are certain products that are in season in different regions but it was a little concerning.
The only con I could see as I browsed the vendors was that this didn’t remind me of my old school farmers market I am used to. You know the kind where they literally back the truck up and you pick it right from the farmer, not sales people and people that literally look like they’ve never had a muddy boot.
Either way this is a solid choice to attend if you are looking for something more fresh than the local grocery store.
