History
Established in 1967.
CSHC was founded in 1967 by the Junior League of Charlotte initially to meet the needs of hearing impaired preschool children. Our services have dramatically expanded to include a much broader array of speech and hearing services for adults as well as children.
In the 1970’s CSHC added a Hearing Services Bank (HSB) that ensures people of all income levels have access to affordable hearing healthcare. We still have this program today, serving approximately hundreds of individuals through our HSB each year.
About 15 years ago we began providing significant services outside of our facility including screenings, evaluations, and treatment at homes and preschools; workshops to parents and educators and inclusion services for at-risk preschoolers.
More recently we have added services to charter schools in the Charlotte area.
