FEAST Food Tours and Culinary Events, Inc. provides a variety of experiential food tour options that showcase the Charlotte area through its culinary artisans, chefs, and farmers. Our neighborhood walking food tours will enable you to get one-​on-​one with restaurant owners to hear the story of how they started their business, feel their passion by tasting their signature products, and gain valuable culinary knowledge by cooking demonstrations or behind-​the-​scene access into their operation. The walking food tours last approximately 3 hours and will enable you to sample food and beverage at 6 – 8 different culinary establishments.

History

Established in 2012.

This business evolved from the passion of all things food and beverage from its owner, Kristi Martin. She has been in Charlotte since 1991, in the hospitality industry since 1998, and spent over 15 years planning special events, weddings, and corporate conferences for two of Charlotte’s upscale venues and hotels. So now, she wants to take visitors, locals, and new residents on a culinary adventure through the city that she loves as well as highlight an industry that is so cool and ever-​changing thanks to the culinary artisans that have followed their passions and inspirations.

Been in Charlotte since 1991 where I attended UNC at Charlotte. Started my adult life in advertising, but really wanted to run my own bed and breakfast so I jumped into the hospitality industry working at two Charlotte inns. The inns also hosted events and meetings and I quickly found myself on the path of booking and planning weddings, corporate meetings, and other special events. After 5.5 years, I moved to one of the newest upscale hotels in Charlotte where I continued event planning for 9+ more years. My years in the events industry working with great chefs and food & beverage directors along with traveling the world finding culinary treasures tapped my true passion for all things food and beverage!

Our group did the Uptown Chic Behind-​The-​Scenes food tour and loved it. This is a great way to spend a fun afternoon with friends, family, or a date whether you live in Charlotte or are visiting from our of town. We visited 5 restaurants during our tour and each had delicious food and drink samplings for us. It was fun to learn more about each restaurant and what makes them unique. We also got to learn some fun historical tidbits about the city while walking from one establishment to the next. The tour was very well organized making it easy for us to enjoy and relax. Definitely recommend these tours to anyone looking for a fun way to spend the afternoon in Charlotte and enjoy good food and drinks in the process.

On a recent trip to Charlotte, this was the highlight of our trip! We chose the NoDa tour, and it was fantastic. Learning some history of the area along with enjoying some amazing food and drinks made it well worth the trip. We toured 6 local shops/​restuarants and learned a little about each and sampled their food and drinks. Do not get it twisted though, you will be stuffed by the end of this tour! The only problem I have now is that I’m going to have to do a tour with feast every time I visit Charlotte now!

I rarely give five stars. But I like to support locally owned business and I had a good time on the recent food tour. Also now that I’ve compared them to the other game in town, Feast Food Tours is legit the best in Charlotte.
I took the Dives to Dining tour in Plaza Midwood. We visited the following: Pizza Peel, Dish, Diamond, Bistro Le Bön, Fern and FuManChu Cupcakes. They tour was front loaded with really filing food. We were stuffed. The portions were generous, specifically at Diamond and Dish. I would have preferred ending at the cupcake joint, but I guess you can’t have it all.
Our tour guide was great — though she failed to project at points. She was knowledgeable and interacted well with the group. I’ll be back for sure. I also appreciate how she wasn’t obvious about tipping. I personally didn’t tip as i didn’t feel compelled based on price point for the tour.
Only meh bit was Fern. It was awkward and the food was a throw away. Also their bathroom was filthy, so filthy that I felt compelled to tell the manager so she could address it before they opened for the dinner rush. I mean dirty gym socks on the floor of the ladies room. WTF.

Kristi does an amazing job at putting this together. My husband and I were going to Charlotte for the NASCAR Driving Experience and decided to add some other activities, including the Bars and Bites tour. We stayed in Uptown and took the train for an easy hop to the South End for the tour. Six divine stops later, we were stuffed with some very delicious delights. Add the wine and beer and we were very happy! I would highly recommend this tour!

My sister and I met up in Charlotte for a girls weekend and wound up doing the Local Flavors of NoDa Tour and we are so glad we did. We really enjoyed all the places we visited on the tour and even spent a few hours after the tour ended going back to a few of the spots. The food and drink we experienced was amazing and we were completely full by the end of the tour. Kristi was great giving us some history about the places we visited but also some fun tidbits about the neighborhood as well.
If you’re looking for something to do for a few hours in Charlotte, I would encourage you to take one of these tours. It’s a great way to explore a neighborhood you might not normally visit. I would definitely do another tour the next time I’m in town!

Just got back from the Dives to Dining tour in the Plaza-​Midwood neighborhood and I am still stuffed! We had a group of 13 led by Michelle who was wonderful. She was knowledgable, charismatic, and really fun!
Our stops included: The Pizza Peel & Tap Room, The Diamond, Dish, Fern-​Flavors from the Garden, FuManChu Cupcakes, and Bistro La Bön. Every stop was organized and every item that we were served was delicious! I think the gem in the tour was FuManChu– Andy was hilarious and who can argue with alcohol infused cupcakes?! The one I chose was Flaming Peach which had Fireball whiskey. I would definitely stop back to most of the restaurants again! Michelle did mention that the locations may change depending on various factors.
I know that there are a few others tours in different areas of the city which I am dying to check out! Overall I definitely recommend spending a few hours with Feast Food Tours– I promise you won’t be disappointed and I bet you’ll discover something new you’ll love!

Did the Plaza Midwood tour with my boyfriend (local) and a friend (out of town). It was a really great way to show my friend a nice cross section of restaurants and food in a great neighborhood. Couldn’t agree more that Kristi is «just right» — she is organized and has all the details down without being neurotic. She has some interesting facts and tidbits about the neighborhood without going overboard on them.
Never felt like we spent too much time at any one place, but never felt rushed to finish the food. Just like Kristi is «just right», the information you learn at each restaurant is «just right» — some places have owners/​chefs who have a ton of interesting information to share, while others give a very nice overview of the food and not much else. This makes for a nice balance — some places you can do a lot of chatting with those around you, while at others you find yourself listening to great stories or local insight.
For the cost, the amount of food that you get is perfect — erring on the side of too much. I am an EATER and did not clean my plate at each place, even when I desperately wanted to. Some people in my group had 7:30 dinner reservations (tour was 3 to 6) — that was a joke — no way you could go out to eat after that!
I would recommend this tour to anyone and will definitely do another one. I HIGHLY recommend this tour if you 1) are new to the area and want to learn about restaurants or 2) you have some guests coming in town and you really aren’t sure what to do with them.

We had a few global employees in town for a conference and wanted to do something special for them while they were here. We scheduled the Soul of the South tour for a team of 14 and were pretty unsure of how it was going to go. Spoiler alert: it was freaking incredible and I can’t wait until the next trip.
Kristi met us at Farenheit to start the tour at 4:30 with festivities beginning at 5 on a Monday night. The weather was perfect. We spent a modest amount of time at each restaurant, received a lovely overview of each one from the chef as well as an explanation on what we were eating and why it showcased the south. What was so lovely about getting up and moving around was that you didn’t (get stuck) talking to the same person all night. After every restaurant we did a kind of musical chairs which allowed for friendly and fun conversation — all about food!
Our tour included:
* Fahrenheit (bacon wrapped chorizo stuffed dates, roasted cauliflower + acv reduction + capers, prosecco)
* Roosters (mac and cheese, local charcuterie board, ramblin’ red beer)
* Cowbell (Carolina slider, pickle chips with ranch, red velvet milkshake)
* King’s Kitchen (local salad, sweet corn fritter, sweet potato fritter, white wine)
* Savannah Red (krispy crème bread pudding with whiskey caramel sauce, pinot noir)
+BONUS Bar Cocoa (two hand painted French chocolates)
The two overall winners were Roosters mac & cheese and Bar Cocoa’s French chocolates. And don’t worry about not getting enough food, my goodness we were all stuffed after the third location! It was a very healthy amount of food — might be the southern theme …
You could tell this program is well thought out. Everyone was extremely impressed, even the individuals like me who have lived in the city for a long time! Kristi did an incredible job and I plan on doing this event and making it special for everyone. Nom nom nom nom.

Another great food tour with Kristi. My 3 BFF’s spent Saturday evening on the Behind the Scenes Uptown Chic Food Tour for a birthday celebration. We visited 6 places and they all were fabulous! From the pizza at Le Tagliatelle (eggplant, balsamic reduction and honey, yummy), BBQ shrimp at E2, crab cakes at Morton’s, Vapiano’s enthusiastic chef and amazing sangria, McCormick and Schmick’s shrimp kisses to the amazing meats and sides at Chima (one of my favorites stops along the tour). We’ll definitely be back and next time with hubbies on date night!!! Thanks Kristi for this experience and for taking such good care of us.

We spent a wonderful Saturday afternoon exploring Central Avenue with Kristi! We went to restaurants that for the most part would never have thought to go to without an expert suggestion. Now thanks for this experience will be we will be going to many of these restaurants on our own. We are now looking forward going on more Feast tours in Charlotte because it was such a positive and fun experience. Four of us went on the Uptown Chic Behind-​the-​Scenes Tour. It seemed like a fun thing to do, but we had no idea what a great time we would have!
We all thought it would be fun — three hours on a Saturday afternoon, checking out great restaurants. But it was so much more than we thought. Kristi was a wonderful tour guide, knowledgable and connected; she took us around town and told us great stories.
From the crab cake at Morton’s to the barbecue shrimp at E2, oh and the pasta at La Tagliatella … among others. In fact, we had such a good time at Vapiano’s, we went back the next night for dinner.
Now we can’t wait to check out the other tours!

Great activity for out of town visitors! I took two of my girlfriends from Virginia on the Plaza Midwood tour last weekend. I thought I had been to a lot of Charlotte restaurants, but I had never eaten at any of the tour spots. Kristi was a fantastic guide with lots of fun facts about the area. It was a unique opportunity to speak with the chefs/​owners and learn the background and philosophy of these local spots. I haven’t taken the other tours, but highly recommend the Plaza Midwood tour!

Kristi was an excellent tour guide. I loved hearing her story about how she transitioned from her passion into a career. I think the tour may need to be renamed a Food/​Brewery tour. We loved all of the restaurants, but felt there was more alcohol than food. We Absolutely loved the NO/​DA area!

What a wonderful way to spend a few hours in Charlotte! Kristi met 11 of us at 3:00 on a recent Saturday afternoon, and we proceeded to walk and talk and laugh and learn. We drank, ate and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at 6 «chic» establishments. Even though we had dined at 3 of them in the past, it was still fun to learn about them, get behind the scenes and be able to ask questions.
We were made to feel very welcome everywhere we went, and Kristi is a «just right» guide. And do note that just because some of these places are of the up-​scale variety, they are not stuffy nor dressy. This is a casual, relaxed tour. And everything we got to taste was of excellent quality. Highly recommend to Foodies of all kinds!

This walking food tour was great! I went with three of my girlfriends, we toured 7 different small restaurants/​breweries/​shops with food/​beer/​wine tasting at each. So much fun, and allowed me to experience a bunch of places in Charlotte in my short weekend. Can’t wait to try another!

Kirsta was awesome in helping with the booking as well hosting the food tour. The food was outstanding — Our tour was from 3pm to 6PM and we skipped dinner we were so full. We enjoyed hearing all the Plaza Midwood «firsts» and we will definitely return to many of the six stops we made on our tour. I highly recommend and will do another tour the next time we come back to Charlotte

Coming from San Francisco, my boyfriend and I wanted to really embrace the food culture in the Carolinas. The «Soul of the South» food tour did just that. Kristi did a great job showing us a variety of food from BBQ at Queen City Q, wine and cheese, shrimp and grits, to chocolate bon bons. After the tour, my boyfriend and I went back to Queen City Q because it was that good. Great job Kristi!

My family and I went on the «Soul of the South» tour, and it was wonderful! I cannot say enough about this tour. We were visiting Charlotte from the DC area and had never been to Charlotte before.
Taking the tour was a great introduction to city, taking us to a variety of different types of restaurants that all had the southern themed food. Two things that I was particularly pleased about: 1) we were served an alcoholic beverage at every other location (great beer and wine) and 2) all of the locations we visited were part of the «Farm to Fork» movement that makes a conscious effort to locally source as much of its food as possible. And it shows! All of the places we visited served delicious, unique food.
Additionally, you get a LOT of food and drink for the money for the tour. It was probably the best value purchase we made throughout the entire trip. The tour combines great food, a little history, and great company for less than $ 50.00/person. The tour proceeded at a great pace, so you you weren’t rushed through any meal, had enough time to stop off at the restroom at any location, and was not so slow as to bore you. I would love to take another Feast Food Tours if I’m ever in the area again!

Kristi set the stage beautifully for a fabulous «Soul of the South» food tour that she crafted for a group of us last week. We are a virtual team of 15 and we descended upon Charlotte for an in-​person strategy meeting. After two long days of plane rides and conference rooms, our tour with Kristi was the perfect getaway that exceeded all our expectations.
From the very beginning until the last minute, Kristi’s tour offered the perfect balance of the best Charlotte has to offer — edible delights, crafted beers, local history, and engaging conversation. I’ve been on several food tours and Kristi just set the bar way above the rest. I enjoyed the diversity of both the establishments and the cuisine.
