~Top 100 Beer Bars by Draft Magazine 5 Years in a Row~

What we’ve got is simple: Craft Beer & Beer Food.

You know what craft beer is, and you probably like it. Ours is all American and you can even try some from our 1937 refurbished beer engine.

So what’s with the «beer food»? Just the easiest way of explaining our menu. It’s all food that tastes great with beer — things like raw oysters, housemade sausage, kraut, panini sandwiches (like our Charlotte Observer award-winning Reuben!), chips/dips and desserts — all made in house.

Besides our «beer food» — there’s still more to love. TVs for the game, a bar to just chill and growlers for your table or to go. Show up sometime, we’ll be here.

The restaurant is run by Jeff Tonidandel, a graduate of Davidson College, and Paul Manley, owner of Damian Dining.

History

Established in 2011.

A call came in early 2011 to Jeff Tonidandel (owner of Crêpe Cellar Kitchen & Pub — a neighboring restaurant) that the space next door was available. As a lover of craft beer, and a believer in the craft beer trend, Tonidandel and business partner, Paul Manley, jumped on the opportunity to create a new concept, centered around craft beer and ‘beer food’.

Growlers Pourhouse opened its doors on August 25, 2011 for the first time.

Now having been on Draft Magazine’s Top 100 Beer Bars in America for 5 years, the local, down-to-earth bar strives to provide the best rotating beer list in the city, with Jeff Tonidandel, Charlotte’s first Certified Cicerone, choosing all the beers in house — on tap, in bottles, on the reserve list and from their 1937 refurbished beer engine.

Business Owner

Jeff Tonidandel is a Certified Cicerone, who loves his craft beer. When the opportunity to open up a new concept came in 2011, Tonidandel and business partner, Paul Manley, decided to open a craft beer bar that would serve ‘beer food’ alongside a select, rotating beer list.

The rest is history… Growlers Pourhouse, nestled comfortably in the eclectic NoDa neighborhood, has now been selected to Draft Magazine’s Top 100 Beer Bars in America for 5 years.
