So after getting a check engine light on a VW Jetta(2006), I took it to Autozone and read the error code… it was a strange one, but the guy recommended this place down the road that only works on VWs. I took another lunch the next day and drove down to this shop that was recommended and found a garage(kinda in the middle of no-where) not too many commercial places around it but two guys sweating it out(hot day) under some Volkswagons. They were pretty nice and read the code again(it wasn’t the same error codes at Autozone), but then cleared the check engine light. They like to have 2 of the same error codes come up to make sure they know what the problem is before going all crazy with replacements and labor. So far the check engine light has not come back on, but I will definitely take it back to these guys if it does. I hate to think about the repair costs once it does, but at least the guys didn’t really give me the run-around since I don’t really know too much about cars to begin with.
