One year ago, this was a grassy field. But UNCC sold more parking passes than it had spaces, and in an act of desperation this space was converted into a muddy field on which the daring could abandon their vehicles. Camrys, Altimas, and Accords are not built for such treatment, and the parking lot was a disaster. After only a few days all but 4-​wheel drive trucks were banned.
When the semester ended, the school quickly paved the lot and it is now the closest parking lot to the science buildings and the Student Union. It may not have the shelter of Union Deck, but it fills up first every morning. Clearly people would rather park outside and save themselves the walk.
