Moving Simplified

Company van destroyed landscaping light and has not taken care of the damage.
On September 13, 2014 a van owned and operated by Moving Simplified came into our driveway plainly marked «private» and proceeded to run over our landscaping and destroyed one of our lights. The driver claimed he was lost. On that day I called the company and was informed to send an text message to Eric Snider the owner. I did and he offered to cover the cost or repair the light.
On Tues. Sept. 16^th I sent a text to him and gave him the option of paying for the light or replacing it. Since then phone calls, text messages and emails have not been returned.
There was absolutely no reason for this van to be in our driveway. It is plainly marked «private». The driver blamed it on his «passenger» who was supposed to be giving him directions.
The light cost us $ 104.00 to replace.
It is now April 2016 and they have done nothing to make amends for the damage they caused.

«NO CALL, NO SHOW» for an appointment we set up to give us an estimate. I called twice and left a voicemail and STILL no response. When I set the appointment, I spoke with the office manager for about ten minutes. He bragged about how good they were and how they used only professional people. Stated either himself or the owner would come out to give us an estimate. All talk and no substance. We will look elsewhere for our move and make sure we alert anyone moving to not use this extremely unprofessional company.

Terrible service.
I had used them once before and aside from the guys being late, it went fairly well. This time was the complete opposite. They showed up late again, this time in a rented truck (not their own, like promised in their bogus «guarantee») that was 17 feet (not the 26 feet promised) with one experienced mover and one guy that was on his first day (not a guess, he told us this and also did not bring gloves so after cutting his hand, I had to give him a pair) and obviously did not know what he was doing (clearly not «professionally-​trained employees» as promised). Items were dropped off the truck, dropped onto other items, banged against walls, slid across hardwood floors, etc. They also spent a great deal of time packing, unpacking, and repacking the truck to try to make things fit, clearly would not have been an issue with the larger truck that was promised to us. In addition to that, they did not take my patio furniture and bicycle because they apparently would not fit in the truck. They failed to inform me of that though and by the time I went back to check on them, my bike had been stolen.
After many calls to complain that day, Eric at Moving Simplified, offered a small discount at the time and ensured that he would «make things right.» He said he has repair people that can work on our furniture, walls, floors, etc but will simply not get back to us to schedule anything. We still have broken furniture, some of which is not even usable in its current state, scraped walls and floors, etc all in our new house. This was at the beginning of June. Since then we have had limited communication as he will not respond to emails. When I can get him on the phone he ensures me that he will go back to the email I sent with all of the damages and respond that day. After two months of this, with yesterday being the last time I was promised a response, I have to now warn people to stay away from this company. The prices may be lower than the bigger moving companies but it is for a reason. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra little bit to deal with professionals.

I’m kind of curious as to why there aren’t more reviews for this company. I recently used Moving Simplified, after a friend of mine used them for a fairly complicated move. She had two different crews and heartily recommended Patrick and Preston of Moving Simplified. She wasn’t as pleased with her other crew.
I agree and will use them again.
So first the con:
1. Website and calling to talk to someone is kind of buggy — it’s hit or miss if you will receive a response and not going to lie, I was a touch worried if someone would show up on the day I requested.
Now the pros — and this only applies to the team I had. Patrick and Preston are brothers, it’s obvious when you look at them. I requested them by description as my girlfriend couldn’t remember their names.
1. Fast — these guys hustled up and down three flights of stairs.
2. Quality — Nothing was damaged going in or out, even w/​my er, less then stellar packing skills. They also moved everything, I mean everything. They probably think me crazy for having them move an empty shoe box… but dudes, that was the shoe box for the shoes I was currently wearing. LOL. I planned on moving those little things myself and left them high up in my closet, but darned if they didn’t move EVERYTHING.
3. Customer service — they were professional and courteous the whole time.
At the end of the day I was looking for straight muscle who would charge a flat rate and that’s what I got. I moved from a rental apartment to my somewhat forever home so not sure when I’m going to need them again, but I will recommend them to all. I’m a pretty picky customer and was satisfied.

I too chose moving simplified because they were so nice when setting up the move and a great price. I was moving within the same neighborhood and this was my first attempt at using professional movers. The whole move took around 12 hours. I really thought it would have been so much faster.
I scheduled 3 movers because we had a lot of furniture and wanted them to disassemble beds as well. The movers didn’t come prepared. They didn’t have enough plastic wrap to wrap dressers and other furniture. So they started putting packing tape to keep drawers closed.
Also didn’t have a hand truck to move appliances which resulted in a dropped and damaged washer. Aside from the washer drop, a tv stand leg was busted and walls were dinged in several places. These things happen, I understand. However just like the other review, it is very very hard to get anyone to answer the phone after they have been paid. I paid $ 85 for a repairman to come give an estimate, and I was told by the owner he would only be able to pay a little more than $ 100 toward the 650 repair cost. Even though I didn’t ask for wall repairs or repair to my tv stand.
At this point their voicemail box is full and they aren’t answering my calls. Now I have to consider legal action. Wishing I had just moved myself… Beware of this company…

«Moving Simplified»? I don’t think so! Try «Moving Complicated». I had a 26 foot truck that needed to be unloaded into our storage unit immediately. They sent two guys who were not in uniform and appeared to not know one another or have the slightest clue how to back up a large vehicle. However, they were both nice, worked very hard and were careful with our fragile items. Everything was carefully packed into storage and not only was I impressed, we had fun working together. We were unable to finish unloading the entire truck that evening and we discussed in detail how we were going to finish unloading the last third of the truck the next evening. I took care of them, provided water, offered to feed them and helped with everything I could. I paid them for the evening’s work and we parted ways for the night at 10pm after 2.5 hours of work.
The next day, I attempted to contact them per our plan from the night before and was unable to get an answer. I tried all three numbers that they had contacted me from the day before. I was able to reach one guy named Jamal who said he would find out what the problem was and call me back. I never got a call back from any of them, despite leaving multiple messages. I even had my boyfriend call from a number they wouldn’t recognize and couldn’t get an answer. Now, I need to return the truck and it is Sunday, I have no one to unload it or drive it and still cannot get a response from them.
If your move is going well and you’d like to make it complicated and difficult, then these are the people to call. If you are looking for professional, honest, responsible movers, save yourself the stress and keep looking. The only reason these jerks got a single star is because at least one is required in order to submit a review. They don’t deserve even one star.

Disaster — the owner was a complete jerk. Avoid at all costs

I was moving from one neighborhood to another within Charlotte, and chose Moving Simplified because of a) price and b) ease of setting up my move. Their website contained great information on their moving process and it was easy to contact them for a quote. The CEO contacted me back a few hours later, and the price was the best I had found.
I was told to expect the 2 uniformed movers between 930 and 10AM on the day of the move. The movers showed up at about 1045, and I needed to vacate the house as quickly as possible. Also, not that it matters, but they weren’t uniformed. I didn’t really care about that, but was different than the expectations set.
Clearing out the house was generally painless and went pretty fast — I would say about an hour.
Moving into the new house took longer than I expected, but was not by too much. Total time was 5 hours.
The two gentlemen who moved me were very professional and generally did a good job. I had damage to two pieces of furniture which I guess is expected, but unfortunate.
However, during the move, two of the new house’s walls were damaged by furniture. They told me they would send someone to repair the holes and marks on Monday or Tuesday (the move was on a Saturday). Not a problem — it happens.
I waited a week for someone to contact me — never happened. I called up and spoke to the CEO who apologized for not contacting, but didn’t know there was some damage. He asked me to take some pictures of the damaged wall and email them to him so he could see whether his employees could fix it or whether he would need to hire a professional. I did that, expecting to hear back — No response for another week. I called him again the following week to ask when they would come — he apologized again, saying he thought he had responded, and asked if he could come and see the damage in person. Sure — I’m free morning or evening — he was supposed to contact me the next day. No call from him.
I contacted him back via email — no response. I emailed him several more times with no response. I called and left 3 voicemails again with no response. Finally, I called from my work number — CEO picks up. Apologizes for not contacting me back, blaming it on a communication misunderstanding. He tells me he’ll have guys over the next day to fix it, but is unsure of the time, as they will be on another job, but he would keep me up to date on when they would come over. I never heard from him, despite calling him again. No response.
After a month and a half of trying to get the damage corrected, I’m going to make the repairs myself. So, while the price point was attractive, the damage to my house and furniture make me wish I had gone with a different company.
