Established in 2013.

Simply Rhythm LLC was founded in order to bring quality West African Rhythm education to the Charlotte community. We work with students at all levels to learn, play and enjoy rhythms that are literally thousands of years old. We learn the rhythms from West African masters and relay them accurately to our students.

Meet the Business Owner

Eric C.

Business Owner

Our lead instructor, Eric Choltus, originally from Montréal, Canada, lives in Charlotte since 2002. What started out as finger-​tapping on his desk as a child has turned into a full-​time fascination with West African drumming. His passion for rhythm is only exceeded by his desire to share them with others. He currently leads a community drumming group, teaches workshops, gives private lessons, and has led a West African performance ensemble (Foli Kan). Eric has worked with multiple African Masters including Bolokada Conde, Mamady Keita, Abou Sylla and Fodé Camara, and completed a 2 year Drumming Instructor program with Tam Tam Mandingue (TTM) in Winston-​Salem, NC.
