I know this is somewhat delayed, as this show was last year. But I’m still going to weigh in my two cents. Out of 2 years of season tickets, this was the worst show of the lot. The music was boring and uninspiring– Duncan Shiek dropped the ball on this one– Much like his albums. Wait, that’s not fair, the music in SA was better than that, at least. But still– There wasn’t a single song in the play that I could remember afterwards. Staging was interesting, with some of the audience up on stage, but overall this show felt like it was staged by a high-school drama department. This story should have made you angry, it should have inspired you to fight against the unfair mores and repression of a society that can’t get the stick out of it’s a**. You should have cried when things ground to their inevitable conclusion. But really, you were just glad it was over. Like any show, I’m glad I went — but I don’t have the slightest inclination to put myself through it again.

What a show! It definitely exceeded my expectations. If you plan on going to see Spring Awakening know that it may not be appropriate for all. They expose you to sexual content and nudity. If you were in the front rows, you probably saw more than you expected. Great story, awesome music! It was like I was at a concert at times. It’s an energetic show that addresses mature content in an entertaining way. I definitely was singing the songs on my way out!
