Established in 2014.

West Ballantyne Animal Hospital was opened in June 2014 by Dr. Tom Linfante.

Dr. Linfante has been a veterinarian for over 8.5 years — the last 5 serving the Charlotte community. Dr. Linfante began practicing veterinary medicine in NY state for about 3 years before he escaped the cold and moved to Charlotte. After 5 years in Charlotte he decided it was time to fulfill his lifelong dream of owning his own animal hospital.

Our main goal was to build a modern hospital with great medicine and surgery capabilities in a warm, comfortable environment for both patients and clients. Our foundation is pretty simple — excellent veterinary medicine, top quality service and compassion for all pets and clients.

Few people are able to find a career that allows them to work with their passion. I consider myself one of the lucky ones! I wanted to be a veterinarian from a very young age, and everyone knew it. My Great Aunt Claire gave me my very first veterinary book when I was a young teenager — «The Veterinary Guide for Animal Owners.» I couldn’t really understand much of it at that point but it was always there to remind me of where I was headed. (She is also responsible for sparking my obsession with Giraffe Manor — an amazing hotel in Kenya where giraffes actually come up the windows and interact with the guests! It is now the TOP item on my bucket list.)

I received my BS in Biology/​Chemistry in 2002 from Bloomsburg University in PA. My first 3 years of veterinary school at Ross University in the Caribbean, and finally my last year at Virginia Tech in 2006.

All I can say is that Dr. Linfante cured my dog when I thought everything else wasn’t working for him. Not only that his staff are courteous and friendly, Dr Linfante is very knowledgeable and very compassionate to his clients. Thank you so much West Ballantyne Animal Hospital! I recently moved from Miami to Charlotte and needed to get my dog’s vaccines as well as have her registered to mecklenburg county. I found this hospital through Unilocal and decided to trust the great reviews. I have to say thank you Unilocal and all those who gave this hospital a 5 star. My dog and I had a great experience. The place was clean and the people were very welcoming. The doctor was honest and from my observation seemed as if he really cared about animals. If you would like a decent vet with reasonable prices I would recommend this location.

We are absolutely delighted with Dr Tom Linfante and his team at West Ballantyne Animal Hospital. Dr Tom is incredibly thorough in his examination and offers great advice– he is always happy to talk through treatment plans and offer suggestions on everything from feeding, tick and flea prevention options to clinical matters. We had been to other vets in Charlotte before and were seen by a different vet and nurse each time– it felt very anonymous. WBAH is the opposite: they have time for you and know pets and owners as individuals.
Would also highly recommend Dr Tom for international movers. We are relocating to the UK and taking our dog with us. He has done so much to help us with our dog’s certificates and has gone above and beyond, contacting the USDA etc, to ensure that everything is as smooth as possible.
We recommend WBAH and Dr Tom to anyone looking for outstanding and ‘stand out’ veterinary care!

Dr. Linfante was great with our less than excited (putting it very mildly) kitties for their first check up at the office. Despite their misbehavior, Dr. Linfante checked each of our cats thoroughly and made sure we felt comfortable during the visit. I highly recommend!

We found Dr. Linfante after our previous Vet retired. We have two large dogs and they both walked in like they were home! We were there for our yearly check-​up — Dr. Linfante and Melissa (assistant) very good about explaining what shots were needed, tests plan to do, and give you cost estimate before doing anything. Highly recommend!

Dr. Linfante spent the first 10 minutes of our visit holding, petting and getting to know my pups. His care was so genuine, and I could tell that my girls trusted him. His staff are just as friendly as he is and immediately made my girls and I feel welcome. I feel so lucky to have found a vet that cares about my pups as much as I do. Roxie and Sierra will definitely be back :-)

Like any doctor, a good vet in Charlotte is hard to find. We’ve gone to one vet after another, and received poor service, or, worse, improper diagnoses for our dog and cat.
For my money, Dr. Linfante is the best vet in Charlotte. Not only did he properly diagnose the knee tears my dog has suffered, but he is also treating my cat, who is now very old and going blind, with the utmost care. His staff is also extremely attentive, and they treat their patients and the patients’ parents with respect and courtesy. Dr. Linfante and his staff also keep in constant touch with us to see how our pets are doing. Not sure what ticked off this one-​star review, but Dr. Linfante is NOT judgmental. He also takes my advice and recommendations very seriously.
We are planning on moving to Mint Hill in the coming weeks, but we will retain Dr. Linfante’s services. Remember, a good vet is hard to find, and if you need to make a longer drive, it’s worth it!

We had our first visit here today. I am so glad to have found this office. I read the one bad review someone wrote here on Unilocal,and I disagree with everything that person had to say. Dr. Linfante and his staff were a pleasure to deal with. The doctor takes the time to really talk with you, and he’s got a great bedside manner. He also took the time to find the best treatment options for our dog, at the most affordable price. The office is very clean and welcoming, and the location is very convenient. I will definitely recommend this office and Dr. Linfante.

We switched to West Ballantyne Animal Hospital when we moved to S. Charlotte. After not being real happy with our last vet, it was a relief to find Dr. Linfante and staff. They are so friendly and do a fantastic job at explaining treatment options, you can tell how much they love animals. Dr. Linfante spent a lot of time with both of our dogs and both experiences were the best they could be. I recommend this office to anyone looking for a great vet!

We switched to West Ballantyne Animal Hospital last year, right before I went on vacation with my Dobie. Dr. Linfante immediately identified Luca as a ‘thyroid dog’. Shocking to me because I’ve been to a number of vets trying to resolve Luca’s skin and hair issues, and none ever tested for that. After time on thyroid medicine, Luca is a different dog, all in good ways! :) Dr. Linfante also supported us when we were on vacation in upstate NY and Luca got into the garbage. We got over that hurdle with his help, and I am extra grateful for this… as the area we were in is remote and the closest emergency vet is 45 minutes and a border crossing away in Canada.
Dr. Linfante is incredibly kind and thorough with Luca. It is clear that he really cares for animals and their well being. He takes the time to explain everything, and lay out all options for treatment. My furbaby is my child, and his care is of utmost importance to me. I would never take him anywhere else.
Everyone in the office is friendly and caring. Highly recommend West Ballantyne Animal Hospital! Their customer service is always exceptional! :)

Dr. Linfante just opened this office not too long ago. I accidentally when in there when it was under renovation because I just moved to the hood and got mega lost. Ever since that day I have kept him in mind while searching for an excellent vet for my daughter. I went to different places and finally decided on this practice. I made a superb decision. Dr. Linfante is excellent thorough wonderful etc. The list goes on. I also love Melissa the girl that works the front desk. I love coming here and I know my tiny chiuwawa mix is in excellent hands. I don’t have to worry if s*** hits the fan cuz I know her life will be prolonged because dr. Linfante is the best veterinarian in the carolinas area.

We recently had our first visit at West Ballantyne Animal Hospital. I am relieved that we didn’t have to search far to find such a great place to bring our challenging dog pixel.
Dr. Linfante and his Tech were patient and knowledgeable on how to handle my dog.
I am glad to know there are vets out there that really care about my pets and are willing to take the time out to make it a positive experience for them.
I also appreciated how knowledgeable Dr. Linfante was and how he took time to answer all of my questions. My pets are extremely important to me and they earned my trust within the first visit, I would definatly recommend them.

If you are one of those pet owners that considers your fur baby as part of your family, then searching for the right veterinarian is sometimes tricky. This newly established animal hospital is a triple threat with its location, services and price.
West Ballantyne Animal Hospital is located in the south Charlotte area of Ballantyne. The office is beautifully designed and decorated, from the soothing light purple walls to the wood feature wall behind the reception area, to the expertly designed exam rooms. You can tell a lot of time was spent in designing the space to maximize its functionality without compromising style.
Dr. Linfante and his staff are knowledgeable, friendly and caring. I took our 1 year old puppy Coco in to be spayed. She was extremely nervous and Dr. Linfante’s staff immediately recognized Coco’s nervousness and ushered us into an exam room to help calm Coco. His staff went over all the paper work with me, went over the estimate of charges, and even offered me a cup of coffee. (When was the last time your veterinary office offered you a beverage?) Dr. Linfante went over the details of the procedure with me and gave me Coco’s post-​op care instructions. Coco was completely at ease with Dr. Linfante. His staff called when she was out of surgery to advise how she was doing and again called once she was out of recovery and able to be picked up. The office called to check up on Coco to make sure she was recovering well at home and to see if we had any questions.
