Got my hair colored here and felt very uncomfortable with other stylist looking over me to watch. Very nice salon though. I’ll be back for a quick blowout sometime soon!

STAY AWAY!!! They mix relaxer in with their conditioner. RUINED my 10 year olds thick hair. Completely changed the texture. Also were several patches of hair burned out. She has breakage along hurt edges now.

Best Dominican Hair Salon!!! Everytime I get my wash and set my hair is flawless!!! I wish you guys had a location in NY, since I moved back home. One thing for sure you’re worth a flight!

I went to the salon five times while on a five week assignment in Charlotte. The salon was super clean and the stylists were extremely knowledgable about all types of hair. They deal with black hair, natural hair and Dominican hair. There is also a nail salon so you can dry your hair as the manicurist does your nails. She uses all OPI colors and my manicure lasted for two weeks.
The staff is very friendly and I never had to wait to get someone started on my hair. One lady washes your hair, another may put rollers on your hair and the last will blow dry your hair. They’re fast, efficient, experts in what they do and the prices are fair.

I have not had a relaxer for 4 years. I have had the same dominican stylist in Houston for years. I moved to Charlotte and this place was highly recommend. I asked for a roller set and was told because I don’t have a relaxer I cant get a roller set. I agreed to try it her way out of desperation. The stylist then pulled my hair drying it with the blow dryer while it was wet and continuously burned me. She had a very unpleasant attitude. I cant spend my money here. I now fly back to Houston for my regular stylist to repair my once beautiful tresses! (And its actually cheaper in Houston).

I loved coming here! Just a couple days ago I decided to try somewhere new for a pedicure and manicure. Yvelisse Salon is located very close to me and it’s also really easy to find. As soon as I walked into the salon, I felt welcomed and a happy, warm energy coming from all of the employees. The amount of positive energy and fun they were having was contagious. The salon was playing great Spanish music and I was immediately seated to get my nails done. The wait for a walk-​in was not long at all, and the nail technician asked me all the right questions to make sure I got the look I wanted. I got gel polish for my manicure and regular polish for my pedicure, and my nail technician made sure to match the colors perfectly. I got a deep red wine color! I was even greeted with a drink of my choice.
While getting my pedicure, I was seated in an amazing massage chair that you had the option of controlling. I was even asked how hot I want the water which was nice, because some places just assume you want it burning hot. Not only was it relaxing, but it was enjoyable to watch the employees sing and dance to the Spanish music. Also, the owners of the salon are very open to helping out local businesses and allow them to come in and offer their goods/​services to employees which I thought was so unique! While sitting down, a lady with a basket of hot empanadas came through and almost everyone got one! Some other details I noticed about the salon was that the hair stylists were very detail-​oriented and passionate about their work. I didn’t see a client not extremely happy while walking out of the salon.
If you like diversity, quality, and a welcoming and positive atmosphere, then you will absolutely love this salon! I’d recommend it to anyone.

The one star is for the lack of service. I went to get my eyebrows done and they took forever to see me, after they said it’d be 5 minutes. Just before I was going to say something, that’s when she called me back. Mary does a great job and seems to be the only one that has etiquette in customer service. She was so courteous and we even spoketo each other in Spanish. Some of the others have attitudes for no reason. They keep that up, they won’t have any business.

Great clean environment, must say staff is great, reminder of being back at home «NYC» just with more of a cost as appose to NY. BUT GUESS THEY CHARGE LIKE THAT BECAUSE THEY KNOW PEOPLE WILL ACTUALLY PAY «HELL I DID» it started out being 45 dollar’s for a wash and blow out, but since I had just took my braids out obvious I needed a deep conditioner, 10 dollars extra, then my ends needed to be cut another 10 dollars extra. I thought that was funny being that they from up north, and everything would cost less and would all included in the service. But like they realize and so have I, different state different prices, but overall great experienced just expect things to add up as you go.

If you are looking for a fun atmosphere, bright lights, and a beautiful salon-​this a great place! However, if you are looking for a caring hair stylist invested in the maintenance of HEALTHY hair-​this is not the place for you-​especially if you are an African-​American woman with very curly hair. I started going to this Salon and initially requested that Yvellise do my hair. She told me she was relocating to NY and was not taking more clients but that someone else in her salon was more than qualified to take care of me. Against my better judgement, I took a chance. Needless to say it’s been over a year and Yvellise has been at the salon every time I’ve gone (every 2 weeks). I was natural when I started going but was told I really needed to get a texturizer because I never where my hair curly and always get it straightened. I told them I was concerned that a texturizer would break off my hair and was promised that it would not. I was told it was very gentile and I would only need it once a year. So I agreed. Within weeks my hair was falling out. I went to Yvellise and told her and she said I needed to moisturize more so she recommended a 1.7 fl oz, $ 40 moisturizer (which I purchased) and continued to watch my hair fall out. 2 weeks ago (about 3 months after the texturizer was applied) I was told I needed to get another texturizer to prevent my hair from «shedding» (breaking off). I was livid. Conveniently, no one remembered telling me I would only need the texturizer once a year or that I told them my hair was breaking off right after they applied the texturizer or that I initially told them I was afraid a texturizer would break my hair off! I could deal with the fact they were wrong, they didn’t know my hair would react this way… or whatever. But to forget (deny) what you told me when you made the recommendation after I very clearly expressed concern and to have such a cavalier attitude about the fact that all of my hair is falling out is disgusting. I strongly discourage going here. This proves that they do not invest the time required to promote healthy hair. Furthermore, they assume if you aren’t apparently of Hispanic descent that you don’t speak Spanish and WILL talk about you in Spanish in front of you. If I could give them negative stars, I would.

They do a magnificent job with the blowout. You will come out with silky straight hair blowing in the wind to rival any hair product commercial. They get you into a chair quickly and the service time is also quick. It is a lot of direct heat but they deep condition and the results are worth the price.

K. I needed to find a new Dominican salon, because my old one closed down on me :(. I am officially in love with this place… I didn’t need an appointment, the place was close to packed and I was getting my hair shampooed less than two minutes after I arrived… my hair feels amazing and healthy. One star off for inconvenience since they don’t take cards, but other than that, I’m in love.

I’m very skeptical about getting my hair done in new places, but I needed a quick wash & blow out and found this place on Unilocal.The inside of the salon was decorated very nicely, and the people who worked there were very nice as well. I have extremely thick hair and it is about shoulder length so I really appreciated the stylist taking her time with my hair. After the stylist finished my hair, I was so in love with the shop. My hair turned out amazing! And I cannot wait to return to the shop. I recommend this shop to anyone who needs their hair done & is looking for a Dominican blowout. Prices were your average hair salon prices, possibly a little more or less expensive depending on the type of hair and length.

The 1 star is not for styling; their blowouts are wonderful and last a long time. I’m giving them 1 star because of their service. I’m natural and my hair is 4a/​3c. Every time I walked in, they acted as if they didn’t want to do my hair. And they also assumed I didn’t know Spanish. I understood the jokes they were making. They will NEVER get another cent from me!

I called before I went and asked them for their prices for natural hair but I was told that I had to come in for her to look at my hair. So I went a little earlier and Yvelisse looked at my straight hair which is down my back and ran her fingers through I’m assuming to touch my roots. She told me it would be 50 bucks just off of that assessment. I was expecting between 40 – 50 so I agreed to the price and had my hair washed/​conditioned, then deep conditioned under a dryer for about 15 mins and then rinsed again. The person who did my hair spoke very limited English (which was expected) so I told her I wanted it blown out no rollers and that’s what she did for the next 25 mins. I was in and out in about an hour and a half which is pretty good for my length of hair.
I was pleased with my hair and it stayed straight for almost 3 weeks (meaning no water on my hair, minimal exercise and no steaming). Yvelisse did tell me before I left that instead of using a shower cap in the shower to just wrap a towel around my head. I actually googled this b/​c I wasn’t sure what she was talking about but who knew I was creating a mini sauna up under my shower cap which is a no no if you want to keep your hair straight. So from now on I will be using a towel instead of shower cap!
The salon was very clean which is a plus but I believe they only take cash. The price which some people may have issues with seems comparable to other salons in the area. I think anytime you step out of the NY state line for a Dominican blow out you should expect to pay 40+ …

I love this place. It is definitely geared for ethnic hair but if you are a white girl with naturally curly hair this salon can do wonders for you too. Really, they have something for everyone. They do a great job with color, deep conditioning, haircuts and styling.
There is a bit of a language barrier but now they see me and know what to do with my rat’s nest aka my hair.
They do the BEST blow-​out in Charlotte… no joke. I’m not telling you they won’t yank and pull but the results are like none other and I have been to a lot of places… high end and hole in the walls…
The salon is clean, top of the line brazilian products, nice service. The only reason they get 4 stars is for the pricing… they definitely overcharge. I paid almost half the price at the dominican salons in NY… They don’t have enough competition yet so they jacked up their prices but hopefully that changes.
Until then… I’ll be back

I have been going to Yvelisse Hair Salon, since I’ve been in Charlotte. I have to say that this is my favorite salon by far. I get my washes and chemicals by Ana, and Clara does by blowouts. This salon is walk-​in only but I never have to wait more than maybe 5 minutes to get in the chair. The décor is nice and warm, and the shop is always clean. I have been there on several occasions when they would provide food ie pizza, donuts, drinks ect and it’s all on the house. It’s hard to find a salon that you can be in and out of in less than 3 hours but that’s always the case here.
When I first came here, they told me that they would have my hair growing and healthy, and the lived up to their word. I started out with shoulder length hair and it is now bra strap length.
Everyone is polite and professional and they do the best dominican blow out in Charlotte. It is a good driver away from my home and one day I decided to try my luck at another salon closer to my house. BAD IDEA, I will never cheat on them again lol.
I would definitely recommend Yvelisse Salon to anyone looking to get a healthy, shiny, bouncy, blowout.

The owner is rude and the prices, for the same exact service, vary by the day. There are no prices posted so the owner makes them up as she goes. The stylist are friendly and skillful. The facilities are clean.

I have frequented the shop on 2 occasions. My first experience being better than the last. I have natural AA hair and I only go to the salon when its time for a trim. However when going to the salon I also get a blow out and a deep conditioner. Because my hair is natural I know to expect a certain level of discomfort when having my hair straightened but I had one of the most painful experiences in my life at this salon. As a point of reference I have my straightened about 4 times a yr by professionals, so I know what to expect.
The 1^st time I went it was a slow weekday morning so one of the girls washed, conditioned, and preped my hair for the blow out by combing through what looked like some kind of keratin product with a small toothed comb! I reached in my purse and gave her my handy denman brush to detangle my hair. Then she began to blow out the back of my hair (this was moderately painful.) and then when the owner became available I sat in her chair and she finished the blow out. The owner did a far superior job in straightening my hair quickly and with little to no pain. The owner also flat ironed and trimmed the ends. My hair looks and felt perfect!
The second go round it was a little busier so this other lady blew my hair out by focusing most of the heat directly on my scalp (ouch.) I later found out that she was applying oil to my hair as she was flat ironing (which is damaging bc its essentially frying your hair.) She trimmed my hair however it later seemed she only trimmed the frame of my locks. The inside was very uneven and had never been touched by scissors. The only experienced professional seems to be the owner. Granted I haven’t let the other women do my hair but my scalp and hair just can’t risk that kind of damage.
I have called and tried to set up appointments with the owner but they don’t take appointments. I have since decided to straighten my own hair (an expensive flat iron is a great investment) and then go to the salon to have the trim. It just won’t be at Yvelisse salon.

I got to the salon about 12:20 on a Saturday afternoon. There were plenty of customers, but I was still able to sit down and get helped right away.
My stylist was Angie. She was very careful to make sure she was gentle with me and my ratty hair. She also thoroughly explained the different services that I was interested in. I heard the owner (I believe it was her) tell Angie to make sure that I was OK, comfortable, and that I was aware of different prices for different services. I actually came out looking pretty darned cute (I’m too short to be «hot»). I got tons of compliments on my hair and my eyebrows (Angie did both).
The hair prices were reasonable for a salon in general but a bit high for the Charlotte Dominican Salon standard (which I gather from my previous experience at another salon and from my Dominican friends yelling at me for paying so much). Perhaps it was because of all the other services offered? I have never seen eyebrows for only $ 6 anywhere else though, so that is a definite plus for them. Remember to stop by an ATM on the way though. It’s cash only here.
Anything you want done, you can get it done here; highlights, cuts, perms, relaxers, eyebrows, manicures, pedicures… There were men and women, black people, white people, latin people… it was like a sequel to the Red House commercial. I was just waiting for Angie to tell me she liked pumping rollers into people’s heads.
The women were definitely more amicable than the men, but everyone (except for one woman) shot me at least one smile. I will definitely go back even if only for the eyebrows.
