I have been to Champion a few times now. It’s a great place to meet friends, especially when the weather is nice. They have a great outdoor space and some indoor seating, but the inside is mostly standing room. I like their beer– I’m a huge fan of the Positive Jam. It’s a light and refreshing beer brewed with coriander and lavender. Pretty cool! They do not serve food but there is usually a food truck conveniently parked right out front usually, if you want a snack.

Cool atmosphere and vibe plus great beers. Liked the Kolsch, habanero beer, and especially impressed by the Black Me Stout. The tasting sample is a great deal.

Beer is okay, probably upper echelon for Virginia, and overall chill with good outdoor area. Had a good food truck. That you can get a 5oz pour of the bourbon barrel stout in the $ 6 tasting sampler is pretty amazing.

This place is top notch! Love the vibe. The service is great. The beer is amazing. I wish this place was in DC but luckily at a few places in DC you can find one of their brews. Their patio is amazing as well. I would come back every time when visiting this city.

The outside beer garden like space is beautiful. I tried spring ale and Pilsner. The place is a bit outside of the downtown so it’s’ tranquility is nicer.

Excellent craft beers, always original/​bold and very flavorfull. Low key atmosphere, though the word has gotten out and this place is getting more and more traffic! Very friendly bartender! On weekends there is usually a food truck in front (but not always the same one!).

Visited on a Friday night. Was pretty busy, but we were able to find two stools at the bar for a tasting. Loved that the flights were «pick your own» instead of a pre-​determined set. Hubby and I both loved the Black Me Stout. Would definitely stop by again, especially since they have a food truck available for snacks outside.

We thought we were rooting for the little guy by coming here, but judging by the crowd they have quite the following! There was only one bar tender at 5:00 on a Saturday, bless his heart, and he handled it well. We did a flight of 6 beers, and with the exception of an unfortunate overuse of Mosaic hops (gross) in one, they were all very accessible and yummy.

Love Champion! It have been here several times since moving to Cville, and I never leave disappointed. It has a very low key, casual vibe, so it’s a great place for a few people or a group. I’ve only found one or two beers that I haven’t liked there. I also love how each day of the week, the food trucks rotate, so I’ve also gotten to try some of those as well. I will return again and again and again to Champion.

I’ll give it five stars when they have the tart on. It’s a very high quality Berliner Weiss and is always enjoyable. Otherwise the other beers are average for a microbrewery of this size. Still better than any other local brewery. The flavored IPAs are good when they are around, habanero is my favorite.
Ambiance is good, although sometimes kind of like drinking in a basement. But the bartenders are nice. Sometimes the hipsters are thick and there are usually fat people playing cards against humanity but unfortunately that’s what we have to deal with going out these days.
Definitely worth checking out if you are in to breweries, all the other local ones are 2 stars on their best days.

Great beers. Family-​friendly establishment, free street parking, walking distance to downtown mall, BYO food or food trucks outside on weekends, cheese-​pairing on Saturdays, sports on TVs, outdoor seating with corn hole, the two bar men (John and Sean) are super friendly, free old school arcade machine ft. Pacman, Galaga etc, board games AND. plush toilet paper! Definitely trust a business that does plush toilet paper. Too dangerously close to where I live.

Best beer in Charlottesville — and that’s saying something, as Champion’s in a great beer town! Blue Mountain, Devil’s Backbone, Three Notch’d, Wild Wolf, Starr Hill and South St… All of these places have their plusses, but Champion’s got the best beer all around. I’m a big fan of their stouts & IPAs, but really anything’s gonna be pretty high quality. Quickly rotating taps, so there’s almost always something new to try. Laid back atmosphere, outdoor seating, friendly bartenders, good music and food trucks always make it a great place to hang.

Spectacular brews, nice people, and funky out-​of-​the-​way type location. Don’t expect anything but a non-​pretentious type tasting room with an outside area. The beers are very well brewed and highly recommended.

Great brewery. Love the way it is set-​up and decorated. I love that they allow the food truck food inside at the tables. Great back patio with lots of sitting space. Sean/​Shawn/​Sean? is really nice and informative. The beer was great. Next time we are back in Charlottesville, we will definitely stop by to see what is new.

Creative brews in a cool building and a great bar tender makes this a go to place for anyone wanting to get some unique local craft beer. Drew, the bar and retail manager was working the bar and was super knowledgeable on the Champion beers as well as the local scene. My favorite was the Hot Stout, a collaboration between a local bbq chef and Champion. It had a kick from habenero and ghost peppers but was just right. Looking forward to my next visit to see what they have. Also, might go w/​o saying but they offer 4/​oz pours as a flight as well as half pints.
Note: They only have food trucks for eats so you may want to make sure one is there if you plan on a meal with your brews.

Decided to try out the new brewery in town, and was not disappointed. Their selection is a tad limited, and the brewmaster seems to tend to strong ales (I’m a lager fan), but I was impressed with my first visit. I was dying to try their Kolsch that others have commented upon, but it was not available. I am not in any way a «hop head», but figured I would give the «Missile IPA» a try. What a surprise! Not overdone with hops, one of the smoothest drinking IPAs I have ever had.
One thing to note is they do not serve food, but routinely have a ‘food truck’ parked out front.
A great little meeting place near the Downtown Mall area. Definitely a repeat.

It’s great to see the Charlottesville beer scene growing and Champion is a welcome addition. Both because of the high quality of the beers, and also its location. While it feels tucked away under the Avon St bridge, it’s really just a short walk from the mall, making it ideal for a pre (or post!) dinner drink.
I’m excited that the brewery seems to have plans to continuously introduce new specialty batches. The current beers are great so I’m sure anything else they dream up will be just as good!
