History

Established in 2008.

I am Kerry McFarland, Earthdarling Portraits creator/​photographer. I started out as a fine art photographer many years ago. Nine years ago, I fell in love with my most demanding model, my daughter. From that love spawned Earthdarling Portraits. I had been using the name Earthdarling for some time now, in various online settings. When I started this business in 2008, I thought it was a fitting name, since I specialize in natural light, try to incorporate as much nature as possible, and everyone I take a picture of is a darling! Get it?

Kerry’s photography has been featured at galleries and art shows in Los Angeles (CA), Sedona (AZ), and here locally in Charlottesville (VA) at Sage Moon Gallery during the Emerging Artists Exhibition. Her work has been described as surreal, and dreamy, and she has an extraordinary understanding of light, which comes across in every shot.
