History

Established in 2008.

Holladay Spa began in 2008, sharing space with hair stylists and estheticians at III Esthetics and Haircare located in the glass building in downtown Charlottesville. We are now located at 312 East Water St, a street level shop in the Water St Parking Garage.

I have been an Esthetician since 2003 and a massage therapist since 2006. In 2008 I started working for myself as Holladay Spa with the wonderful folks at III Esthetics and Haircare. I am probably most known for my brazilian bikini wax and often referred to as the Waxing Queen because of my speedy technique and laid back attitude. I also specialize in customizable European Facials so I can best suit every client’s skincare needs. And massage clients keep coming back for my deeper, therapeutic style that realigns the body without compromising on relaxation.

I made an eyebrow wax appointment online less than 24 hours in advance, which was really easy to use and had a few options open for the next day. Laura was really friendly and explained the special type of wax she uses and gave me some advice on other possible services. The whole treatment took only about 5 – 10 minutes and I’m extremely happy with the results.

I love this place and Laura so deeply. This was the first place I ever got a bikini wax (there’s a coupon for your first service at their website) and it was such a good experience. Laura is great to chat to and very accommodating. Once I had a service on a very snowy day and I called ahead to make sure it wouldn’t be cancelled and that I wouldn’t have to drive in the snow. She was in constant contact with me so that when someone cancelled earlier in the day I was able to get in before the snow started! I’m so sad that I moved away from Charlottesville so I can’t go here anymore.

I scheduled my first appointment with their online system. When I show up for the appointment, the front desk worker tells me that the person is out of town, and the system has been automatically booking people for a few weeks in the future. What?! That was not at all clear when using their online system, where I clearly checked the date on a calendar for an appointment, selected a time and received an affirmative confirmation that the date/​time selected would work. The front desk worker was also pretty condescending and unfriendly. There are so many salons to choose from — I won’t be back!

I’m not exactly sure what all the hype is about Laura. I got a Brazilian from her, and it was the worst Brazilian I’ve ever had. VERY painful, and when I got home I realized that she missed an entire patch of hair down there. Was nowhere close to being perfect. Will not be going back.

I’m a dude. Don’t go to spas really ever. But after some prodding from my girlfriend and her gift to me I made my way over to see Laura for a, ahem, facial, which, being somewhat skeptical about the efficacy and need for such things, and being a guy, I was hesitant to do. Well, the experience was totally worth it — I look so much better. Some hot stone stuff and massage thrown in too, think I fell asleep for part of it. Good stuff here.

I had been going to another place in Cville to get waxed and it was just my luck that they were closed this week. So I scrambled and found Holladay Spa, went to my appointment, and decided I will never go back to my old place for waxes again. Laura is super nice and works swiftly and effectively. She also uses hard wax, which is almost painless. This is my new go-​to wax place!

After a number of average and sub-​par waxes around Charlottesville, I found one of the best waxes I’ve ever had. Laura is incredible, and both my eyebrow and Brazilian waxes were quick, easy, and as painless as a wax can be! I was thrilled to find someone who was beyond proficient with hard wax, and won’t be going to anyone else whilst I am in Charlottesville!

Just had a full leg, bikini, and underarm wax from Laura. Hands down, best wax I have ever had. The atmosphere was relaxing and the store was clean, and her technique was so painless and quick. Not to mention, her prices are fantastic! I don’t see myself going to anyone else anytime soon.

I’ve lived in Charlottesville for 4 years now and cannot go to ANYONE else for services. I have even driven from DC back to Cville to get services (waxing, facial, massage, etc.) because she is that good. Her products are top-​notch and earth/​skin friendly. She is a great person and cares about her clients. I highly recommend Laura!

Warning: You will not be satisfied with any other salon once you’ve been waxed by Laura. This is a real problem if you leave C’ville. I’ve tried far more expensive places in central Virginia and beyond, and Laura is in a league of her own. I can’t believe she hasn’t increased her prices by now. Go — you’ll be hooked.
