Snap Fitness & Studio 24/7

No matter what your fitness goals are, Snap Fitness is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a clean, well-​staffed, and inexpensive gym. I joined in February and have had a wonderful experience every time I have been since which is saying something because I am sometimes there more than once a day.
It is open ²⁴⁄₇ and there are only a few super busy times during the week — primarily Monday and Friday evenings in my experience — so despite this location being somewhat compact, there is always equipment available. There is only one squat rack but they have a good variety of weight machines, free weights, and lots of cardio equipment. There is also a studio where you can play fitness classes on a projector and where they host pilates-​type classes Monday evenings and Saturday mornings which are free for members. There are a lot of TVs located in the cardio section as well as free WiFi which certainly makes cardio sessions go by a lot quicker ;) To round out the amenities they do offer a stand-​up tanning bed for a pretty inexpensive monthly fee, and although I don’t use it I have heard from other members that it is worth it.
It is always kept extremely clean and tidy which is a huge plus for me. From the equipment to the showers, it is always spotless. And last but certainly not least, the staff is excellent. It is important to note that the gym is not staffed ²⁴⁄₇ but the manager, Jose, is there all throughout the week and does an amazing job. From the day I signed up he has provided me with constant help and support in achieving my goals from offering help with my diet to showing me more effective ways to train or use the machines. He is also super knowledgable when it comes to sports nutrition and can answer any questions you have regarding the products they sell — mostly Cellucor, as well as some ready-​to-​drink protein shakes and preworkouts — and what you can do to maximize your results. I would recommend Snap for any of the above reasons but Jose truly goes above and beyond to ensure members have a positive and rewarding experience here and that is why I am so quick to direct anyone in search of a new gym to Snap Fitness.

I’ve had a pretty terrible experience with Snap Fitness.
The facility itself is fine! The machines are new enough & clean enough. It’s a comfortable space to work out in for sure. The tanning bed works but it’s not very nice and there is only one. I worked out with a trainer that recently moved away, and she was nothing short of fabulous.
HOWEVER when it comes to changing or canceling your membership — good luck. You’ll have better chances waking up to a room full of gold. After canceling my membership with at least three of the staff members at Snap Fitness, I was still charged (and ignored) for months. The staff at the facility was absolutely useless in regards to helping me resolve the issue. When I went in to the facility (which is now well over an hour away from my home) for assistance, I was made to feel like an annoyance and was hurried out the door, being told that «there was absolutely nothing they could do.» I called corporate multiple times which did nothing. I emailed them several times. Nothing. No one canceled my membership for me and no one helped me to be refunded the money that was being withdrawn from my bank account every month. This went on for four months with no response. I finally ended up having to dispute the charges with the help of my bank.
What a headache. If you’re thinking of joining a gym — I’d pick a different one. Having access to machines is great, but you can get that anywhere. The employees of any facility are ultimately what’s going to create your experience there. Go with AnyTime.

If the main things you look for in a gym are cleanliness, a wide variety of equipment and knowledgeable staff, this is a great choice.
I worked out here recently for about two years when I lived in Charlottesville.
Jose the manager is very friendly and informed. He is there almost all the time. The rest of the stuff doesn’t speak much english but they are all very polite and friendly.
The music is decent classic rock that they don’t play too loud so if you wanna do your own thing with headphones you totally can.
They have some equipment that I don’t see too often at other gyms. Namely, the rubber coated weight bars which are great for less strong people who want to incorporate squats, dead lifts and chest presses into their routine. These bars weigh a lot less than the standard metal ones which, at least for me, were too heavy to use at first.
They also have an assisted dip machine which «helps» you do pull ups and dips until you can do them on your own.
And my other favorite is what I call the butt lifter. I’m not sure what it’s technically called but it really targets firming up your butt and I don’t see that machine too many places.
This place was ALWAYS spotless which I really miss as I recently moved out to CA and the gyms out here (LA Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness) are poorly managed and rarely clean.
If you’re into tanning, they have a great hex stand up tanning bed. You have to pay extra but it’s reasonably priced.
The only things that would make this place better is if they added another squat station and if they followed through on equipment requests. (I inquired a few times to see if they could add a beginner version of one of those inexpensive inflatable balance discs to their gear which would have helped me out a lot. Was told they were working on it but nothing ever came of it).
Snap — please open a location out here in Ventura County, CA! You would seriously have no competition.

I”m new to C’ville and needed a gym for 5 months while I’m building a house. I absolutely did not want to sign a contract since the place where I will be moving to has its own fitness center. Snap was perfect for me. They have all of the cardio equipment you could possibly want: bikes, rowing machines, stairmaster, treadmills, ellipticals. They have a weight area but don’t have organized classes. Instead of classes they have a room with videotaped classes that you can take and follow whenever you want. This place is perfect for me — the person who signed me up (Jose?) was professional and very helpful. Again, this place was perfect for what I was looking for.

BEWARE! I specifically made a Unilocal account just to leave my review about this establishment. I walked into snap in December 2012 waited about 30 minutes to discuss my membership with someone. Finally some knucklehead came up had me sign up and didn’t even take any payment information. I had to say, «Hey, don’t you need to have me pay for it?» I mean, really? Who doesn’t properly train their employees? He took my credit card information and then when I came into workout the next day and my key didn’t work. I had to contact them letting them know that it wasn’t working and Jose called me back telling me that I had to make yet another trip over there so that I could PROPERLY fill out the paperwork. I told jose, I only want this membership for a month. I told him to give me just the month-​to-​month membership. I specifically said this. He had me sign up and KNOWING that I just wanted the membership for the month didn’t say oh hey JUST SO YOU KNOW WE WILL BE CHARGING YOUR DEBIT CARD EVEN AFTER THE MONTH IS OVER. I mean really. Just incredibly dishonest and scummy people. I will never join this gym again.
UPDATE:
Just went into Snap to cancel my membership in person. Nancy and her husband gave me the form along with her attorney’s information. WTF? I proceeded to tell her how unbelievably TERRIBLE her customer service skills were and her husband chimmed in and not only called me racist (i was born and raised in latin america. i am a minority) but he also said «f*ck you» under his breath and called me a «b*tch» on my way out! I couldn’t believe it! ARE THESE PEOPLE INSANE?

Exactly what I needed. In town visiting mom (and training for a marathon). I needed to do a 10 mile training run… and it was too cold outside (I’m a cold-​weather-​whimp from California). Paid a $ 10 day fee. No hassle. VERY clean gym. They have cubbies rather than lockers (unless you pay a monthly fee) so dont bring valuables. Went on a Saturday around 4:30PM. Stayed for 2 hours. Maybe 4 other people there the whole time. No one bugged me (which is how I like to work out). Great experience altogether. Will be back next time I’m in town.

Snap Fitness is a great place to work out, affordable, and always clean. There are never too many people in the way, except maybe Monday and Tuesday afternoon. There isn’t any classes or daycare, but they have tanning beds available.
