This is great quality local meat to at a much better price compared to grocery stores. We get their family pack which includes beef, pork, a whole chicken, 4 hot dogs, beef jerky and 4 chicken breasts for $ 45.

This is one of Taste of Virginia Food Tours stops. This was on Taste of Virgina Food Tours TripAdvisor, stating that The Organic Butcher was there favor stop. and how awesome they were there. «Wonderful!!» 5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2014 We booked this food tour for a girls weekend in Charlottesville– we ended up having Debbie all to ourselves! The best part is that we ate at establishments we would never have found(off the main tourist area) and they were FABULOUS. The food was great and we were definitely filled. At each place we stopped, Debbie(and sometimes the restaurant workers!) gave us some very interesting historical tidbits. Our favorite stop was at the Butchers Market– the guys that work there are just awesome. It was more of an «experience» stop than a food stop(though we left with the best jerky we have ever had!) but it was wonderful to meet these guys. I would highly recommend this food tour– there was plenty of food and lots of walking. A really, really great way to spend quality time with your friends and/or family! Visited October 2014

**Stop 4 of 7 on the Taste of Virginia Charlottesville Food Tour** I’ll never look at a piece a meat the same way again. Stop number four on our food tour was a demonstration from the butchers at The Organic Butcher. After talking with the guys behind the counter(who seem like they are having the best time of our lives), I can safely say that cutting up a piece of meat is a lost art form and I have no idea what I’m doing when I cut into anything. Do yourself a favor and ask the guys behind the counter how to cut up the piece of meat you just purchased — they are more than happy to demonstrate and you’ll laugh so much your cheeks will hurt. Be sure to try their beef jerky as well — it’s some of the best you’ll ever have. Not too chewy and not overly salted(in fact I could barely taste any, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t any at all), even if you dislike jerky you’ll like this stuff. Overall, stay out of the grocery store meat department and come here instead.

Best butcher ever! I even send their meat up to Boston for my family! Call ahead to get their family or grill packs and get $ 5 off!

I wish they knew where the meat came from. It’s not reassuring to say their chicken is from the Shenandoah valley considering this location produces some of the most birds for consumption in the world! I’ve asked where the meat comes from about 3 times, separated by periods of months to years, and the employees never been able to name a single farm.

LOVE these guys. They know meat, and their prices are reasonable for local organic/grassfed stuff. If you don’t see something you want in the case just ask. For instance, I like thick steaks 1.5−2 inches, and it’s like they get a kick out of cutting them for me. Maybe it’s because they think it’s hilarious that a girl like me is ordering a giant slab of ribeye. Or maybe they just have awesome, cheerful service and a product to be proud of. Probably the latter. :)

Some of the best quality and variety of meat you’ll find around town. I can always count on them to have what I’m looking for and to do a great job trimming the meat. The service is also five star.

This is the place to get meat in Charlottesville. Everything I’ve had is truly excellent. The prices are not as high as one might expect — certainly not as cheap as, say, Food Lion, but also not something only the rich can afford. For me the quality more than makes up for the price difference, and if you like the idea of eating organic, local meat(sold by a small business, no less!), you must shop here.

When I think of a butcher I think of a place that has a friendly, knowledgeable staff, that has the highest quality cuts of meats from locally sourced farms. The Organic Butcher meets all of those requirements and the fillet mignon and skirt steak I ordered were absolutely delicious. They also have their own rubs and marinades that I am tempted to try next time I go back. They are a bit difficult to find simply bu using the GPS, they are actually in the shopping mall. Overall I highly recommended this establishment.

My boyfriend cooked me a nice filet mignon for Valentine’s day(guess he wasnt the only one-see below) and it hit the spot! The guy was helpful(I went with him to pick it out). Worth the money. The place is inside the tiny mall-its a bit confusing to find on the GPS

Best filet mignon I’ve ever had. Wanted to cook my sweetie a great V-day steak, and I found this shop based on a recommendation from a friend. Butcher was very helpful in assisting us, but the real reason for this 5-star review is for the quality of meat. You can go to any grocery store and pay $ 20/lb for a decent filet, but I paid $ 16/lb for Organic deliciousness. Will definitely return any time I’m craving some high quality, reasonably priced meat.

We don’t eat a ton of meat, but I have profited gastronomically for the presence of The Organic Butcher. On several occasions we’ve patronized this vendor. We’ve purchased beautiful marbled cuts of beef for stew, once a 5 lb cut of pork butt from which we made the most delicious bbq. We’ve sampled their extensive sausage and bacon selections and highly recommend hot Italian sausage, and applewood smoked bacon. Suppliers are often local, which I appreciate.
