Specialties
When you are a member of the credit union, you are part of something special. Credit unions are unique among financial institutions in being completely owned by their members-and that makes a real difference.
Because we don’t have stockholders, we’re not driven to turn a profit at the expense of those who use our services. Our sole mission is to help our personal and business member-owners achieve their financial goals by offering a wide variety of financial products & services-from lending and deposit products to electronic banking services-that combine competitive rates with outstanding service. Our deposit accounts are insured to at least $ 250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration, a U.S. government agency.
History
Established in 1954.
How We Started
On May 1, 1954, a group of 40 University of Virginia Hospital administrators and staff held their first meeting to organize what would become the University of Virginia Community Credit Union. They believed that by pooling their resources, each member of the credit union could have the chance at a better future.
Today
We’ve grown dramatically since 1954. At every step of the way, the credit union continues to do our part – just as its founders envisioned – to help our members achieve their financial goals – whether it was owning a home, sending their children to college, or enjoying a secure retirement.
