You can tell a lot about a hotel, and how the management and staff handle themselves, just by trying to make a reservation. It’s 7:45eastern time on a Thursday. I called to make a reservation, and first was put on hold, through an automated recording. After waiting a few minutes, a young woman greeted me. Her speech was so fast, I could not understand what she was said. I asked if this was the Best Western? She quickly replied, «yes.» I then proceeded to ask her if they were taking reservations for a Holiday Inn Express, which is opening in June of this year. It was merely a question,(apparently they’re won’t take reservations from the best western, and I would have to wait till June to reserve a room) the response I got back from the lady, was extremely negative, and hostile. I tried to calm her down, saying I didn’t know that I could not make a reservation. If a person can not be calm, and respectful of customers. What in the heck are they doing in the customer service business. She should go back to work at the, cockroach infested, Waffle House she came from. I am not a fan of rude and impatient people. Two thumbs down for this place.

Very disappointed in this company. They do not pay their venders money that is owed to them. We are a small business and try to make a living providing our services and don’t get paid money that we worked hard to make. Please do not support this hotel !

This hotel does not pay their venders. We have been trying to collect a invoice for over a year and they don’t return calls or pay invoices sent repeatedly to them. PLEASEDONOTSUPPORTTHISHOTEL ! Nine days have passed and still no response to this post from the hotel.

I can’t speak to the quality of this hotel… Because my room, that I reserved a month ago, was given to somebody else. We were given keys, checked in, and we promptly walked into a room that somebody was clearly occupying: luggage and beds unmade. We went back to the front desk and we discovered that our room had been sold out from under us. This is *after* we called the front desk to ask how to get to this place from Belle Plaine because many roads were closed due to flooding. We were told we could definitely take any bridge. All but one bridge was closed. So poor service before we even set foot on the property. Their solution was go to a Super 8. Absolutely unacceptable. Manager(Heather) on staff was not apologetic in the least as we walked out. This place needs some serious work.

Good location, good facility, poor housekeeping/staffing and overall poor service. The location in downtown Chaska was really good, and the facility itself is really nice. Huge firepit, tasty breakfast, and a nice pool. Night 1: we called the front desk to get blankets for our daughter. Each room is supposed to have a blanket and pillow in the closet, our bag for this was empty. The front desk said we could come down and get it. Yeah, that’s right. They make a mistake and we fix it ourselves. I don’t care about their staffing, that’s ridiculous. Night 2: our housekeeping staff took all our towels from night 1 and didn’t replenish them. Same story, «come get it». Pretzels in ac unit too, nice attention to detail guys! Our room also smelled of smoke, although this is a nonsmoking hotel. That sucked.

This is one of those places that are OK, but with a little more effort they could be great. For instance, the breakfast fare is a slight cut above the norm, and the dining room was larger than one might expect. There is an overflow out onto a covered patio overlooking the river, and a fire pit. Very nice. Yes the fire pit needs to be cleaned out, but hey, that’s a minor detail. The common areas are not extravagant but have all the features you’d want. Pool is large and indoors, hot tub holds 12, rooms are adequate. There’s a family game area with a large table, fireplace and board games available to guests. Nice touch. The one thing that struck us, is that with a little more attention to detail, this could be great. For instance, our suite was furnished with second hand and mismatched furniture, nicked up, drawer pulls missing. Cigarette burns in the carpet. Housekeeping didn’t properly vacuum our carpets for the four days we stayed. What dishes we dirtied stayed in the sink, and no soap was left for us to do them ourselves, which is the policy. The floating wood flooring in the kitchenette was installed such that there are gaps through which you can see the sub floor. Outdoors, on the patio there’s one of those sand ash trays, which is filled with butts, all the same brand, which indicates that the same person is using it, probably staff. This is a smoke free hotel. So why is there an ash tray in the outdoor dining area? This smoking area is right underneath our window, and our room has it’s fresh air intake drawing in air from below. All that being said, the saving grace is that this place is inexpensive, homey, relaxing, and off the beaten path. I’d stay again, but if you’re expecting lobster for the price of burgers, you’ll be disappointed.
