History
Established in 1979.
I began managing the body shop in 1983 when it was known as Eckhart-Martin Auto Body working for the owner Kenneth Eckhart and his family. After 12 years of working for the Eckhart family, Ken decided to retire and he sold the shop to my wife and I. In honor of Ken, I decided that the best way to continue the legacy of the shop, was to drop the Martin and become Eckhart Auto Body in 1995. Funniest part of this story is, most customers thought my last name was Eckhart. It’s not. But to change the name to my last name was just not good business sense since I was known as «Mark at Eckhart» to all who knew about us. We have continued the tradition of what Ken always stood for: Quality repairs at a reasonable price and finished in a timely manner with outstanding customer service.
Meet the Business Owner
Mark C.
Business Owner
I was born in Kansas City, MO in 1959 and moved to Camarillo, CA in 1962. I consider both of these cities «home» as I love living in Camarillo, ah the weather, and still have my roots in KC. Most anyone who knows me, knows that I am a devout Chiefs and Royals fan. I graduated from Camarillo High School in 1977. I worked my first job at the first McDonald’s in Camarillo in 1975. I was actually one of the first 30 employees hired. My wife, Pam, and I were married in 1979. After becoming tired of working nights and weekends, I was employed by the Auto Club of So Ca as a Claims Adjuster. Eckhart-Martin was one of my territorial body shops and i became familiar with Ken. We had mutual respect for each other and when it came time for him to look for another Manager, he asked if I was interested. I said I was and I started at the shop on February 16, 1983. On March 22, our son, Mark Jr was born.
Ken decided to retire in 1995 and we bought the shop from him and have owned it since that time.
