This place is weird. I walked in on a Friday at ten till noon and there wasn’t a soul in the place. There’s no host/greeter area so I wandered into the bakery/sweets counter in the back until someone saw me. The guy looked at me like he had no idea why I’d walked into his establishment. When I expressed a desire to be served lunch he waved at the entire dining room apparently inviting me to sit anywhere. The floors were sticky. When I moved the bread plate on the table, it resisted slightly because the table too was sticky. I had to pull the table closer to me because the booth benches were too distant from it. The silverware was of questionable cleanliness. The napkins looked like they came from a gas station wash room. I was given water before a menu. The whole thing just about made me get up and head for the door. I’m glad I stuck around. I ordered the chicken tika masala lunch special. Prior to the meal I got a weird«bread» thing like a giant cracker. Very messy crumb-wise but good with the green«salsa» they provide in a chilled metal carousel. The meal itself was served in a giant, partitioned, metal tray like you might see in a 1950’s-era science fiction film trying to depict futuristic dining. The«salad» was nothing more than chopped up romaine of questionable freshness, and undressed in a partition on the right, with what I think was the dressing clear on the other side of the tray in its own partition, with the rice between them. All of the above was very weird. It was all cast aside and forgotten as I consumed the chicken tika. So delicious; so complex in its flavors; wonderful spice and texture on the chicken; wanted to keep eating it; wanted to buy a bucket of it to go; wanted to fill a kiddy pool and swim in it. The other little sides(I think one was a paneer and lentil thing — no idea what the other thing was) weren’t bad, but I sopped up every smear of that tika with the soft flat bread provided on the side. And all for $ 8. Oddities aside, next time I visit the client in this area, I will go back.

I came here because I had an entire entertainment coupon. First the waiter said they don’t take this. I had to show it to the owner that his stores was on this coupon. Food was good. It was suppose to be buy one entrée get one free. Instead of the free entrée they gave me free naan which is cheaper than an entrée. I had to show them the coupon again then they adjusted it. To top it off I saw a cockroach on the wall at an empty booth. Never coming back again.

This restaurant looks really different from what it used to couple years back but its still good. I like spicy food and their Kadhai Paneer and Malai Kofta tasted very good. Naan could have been better. The prices are reasonable too. The ambience is not extravagant but you can sit down and eat. Great for take out and catering.

Recently I’ve realized that thanks to LA’s amazing restaurant and bar scene, my standards have become exceptionally high. As such, I would hazard a guess that you, like myself, have come to look at a 3-star rating for a restaurant to be sub-standard. Indian Oven, however, has made me reassess the folly of my ways. 3 stars is(by definition) average. That magnificent fulcrum between a spectacular experience and a terrible one. Indian Oven is exactly that: Average. The service isn’t friendly, but it’s not rude. Perhaps you’d call it appropriately attentive. The food isn’t great, but it’s not bad. The ambiance, selection, price… everything…is just about as middle of the road as you could get. So if you’re looking for food, in a building, served by people, that costs about what you’d expect, then Indian Oven is exactly the right place for. Magnificently, strikingly, perfectly average! In that, it truly excels!

By far the WORST Indian food on the West Side. My go to dish is Chicken Tikka Masala. I ordered it and was so disappointed. The presentation was fine, but the food was atrocious. Soooooo SALTY and it tasted reheated and not fresh at all. We had naan, rice, and paneer masala. All of the food was over salted and tasted stale. My friend was so upset with the paneer she sent it back and ordered lamb curry, which was semi okay. Nonetheless, it was again, over salted. The naan wasn’t good or fresh. This was by far the worst Indian food I’ve ever eaten. So sorry but it’s just not good. The place was completely empty, and we were the only two people present. That should have warned us, but I was totally willing to give it a try. I was absolutely disappointed. Never ever going back.

I did carry-out, so can’t say much about the service but I got the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan®ular naan. The naan wasn’t too bad but the chicken tikka masala was absolutely horrible. It had a really nasty taste to it. I’m never coming back as I only get the chicken tikka masala from any Indian restaurants.

had lunch here today and was surprised from the first moment I sat down… the waiter was helpful and friendly and acted like he really cared that I was there ! From what I’m told there’s a new owner here so I think you will start to see more and better reviews of the Indian Oven… I ordered The Chicken Tikka Marsala with rice and Naan… The smells coming from the kitchen were over the top and when the food arrived at my table I knew why. The dish looked really good and tasted great… I think it’s the best Tikka Marsala I’ve ever had… I almost licked the plate ! I hope the rest of the food is just as good… I will be back to find out. Great homemade Chutney and mint sauce as well. The décor was avg. but very clean and like every hidden gem the outside was plain and almost missed when I drove by… I’m glad I didn’t miss it.

Shittiest restaurant ever. I waited 15 minutes for them just so that the manager could turn me away. They dont even deserve one star. I came in with a coupon and they wouldnt let me order because they needed a hardcopy. They even had a printer which i couldnt use. Then they told me to go to the library to print. WTF! all the food coming out of the kitchen look like shit too. One of the workers even came out of bathroom and didnt wash his hands. GROSS!!!

The waiter was fine; the food really wasn’t. Overcooked & meat was surprisingly poor quality. I hope I never go there again.

I was recently invited to a party recently and the food was catered by this place, it was actually in the banquet hall next door. I used Unilocal to get the address to the place and when I saw the reviews I was already planning on eating else where based on the reviews but when I arrived the food looked good so I started a small plate of appetizers and to my surprise it was great, I had the paneer pakoras and fish and wow it was amazing. everyone on our table loved it so after a while of dancing and drinking I said screw it I’ll try the actual main course and once again wow I loved everything I got(chicken tikka, paneer curry and goat curry along with rice and naan). I was really shocked at the quality of food and service .I was planning on leaving the party early and grappling some Denny’s but the food was great and I’m glad I tried it .I asked one of the servers as to why their reviews are so bad, and he said they recently changed management and added a new chef. I’m glad they did cause I will definitely be back as long as this is the type of food I get.

My brother and dad were looking for some Indian food to kick off our Friday night and this place came to mind because we’ve attended parties in their hall. As we walked in we didn’t know what to do or where to go because no one greeted us. It would’ve been different on a busy night but we were the ONLY ones there. Finally some teen told us to sit wherever. Being Indian, and having been to many many different Indian restaurants, this was by far the worst experience and worst tasting food. The fried rice looked and tasted like plain rice with pepper, the goat curry was bland and meat was dry, and their popular chicken tikka masala was way too salty. All this wasn’t as bad as when the Indian mafia gathered for their meeting. Every 10 minutes some guy would pull up in a 100k+ car and go into this private room in front of the restaurant. Def thought the restaurant was a front for something and got out of there.

We have been going to this restaurant for couple of years and it is always has been a pleasant experience. You get friendly staff who greet you with welcoming smile. Service is great and food is authentic. My favorites dishes are Chickeen Tikka, Samosa, Shahi Paneer and Garlic Naan and Onion Kulcha. If you have not tried this, I would give it a try. Good service and great food, what else any one can expect.

Appearances can be deceiving! This restaurant is in desperate need of some renovation love(and I believe they are in the process) however, our tables and silverware were still very clean and well presented. I had a funny feeling walking in and being the only family there(completely empty!) but we sat down anyway and began our adventure. I’m not a connoisseur of Indian food, in fact I’ve only ever had it a few times. I enjoy it quite a bit but ever since I was diagnosed with several food allergies(wheat, peanuts, etc.) I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to eat anything. We talked to whom I would assume was the owner(a great start because he is fantastic and very polite!) and I told him about my allergy concerns. He said«No problem» and listed every single item on the menu that was gluten-free. I found out that I was able to eat about 90% of the menu items because most everything is made, as he put it, with garbanzo or lentil flour and not wheat. I was ecstatic!(These substitutes are also very healthy if you are looking for low-fat, high nutrient foods.) My family and I over ordered but everything was so good, we were happy to have lunch for tomorrow! Even my fiancé(who had never tried Indian food and is generally kinda picky) LOVED it! What we ordered(sorry I can’t remember ANY of the names): Chicken masala. A staple. Some freaky looking spinach and cheese dish that tasted amazing!(once you got past the color.) Several chicken curries. Rice(which came with peas) Yumm! This other rice with nuts(cashews only for me) and fruit in it – great for kids! Some fried cheese bites which tasted like mozzarella sticks only way better. and I could even enjoy the tasty appetizer they bring out: some thin taco-looking cracker thins that you dip in two different sauces(the crisps are made out of lentil flour and tasted kind of spicy) Everything was so good my fiancé and I agreed we have to come back and make it part of our restaurant rotation. :) This family owned restaurant is so pleasant and serves great food. Definitely recommend!

I saw this place on and figured I’d try it out even though I had never heard of it. I wish I hadn’t, it was the most awkward dining experience that I’ve ever had. We must have gotten the same waiter another reviewer mentioned, it’s a young kid who looks like he is in middle school. He’s extremely inexperienced and not very intuitive with the needs of the customer. A great example of this: we were eating our appetizer and using the small plates provided with it, he brings us larger plates and asks to take our smaller ones. Literally while we were eating food off of them, forcing us to awkwardly transfer the food over to the larger plates. This occurred no more than five minutes after bringing out the appetizer and the plates to begin with. Service continued to be too frequent and clunky the whole meal. Not to mention when the waiter wasn’t at our table he was standing by the register staring at us continually. I came here with my boyfriend hoping to have a nice relaxing meal and instead wound up leaving stressed out and uncomfortable. As for the actual food itself? It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t nearly good enough to ever undergo another experience here. As I mentioned before, we had a certificate(I got it during one of their frequent $ 2 for $ 25 certificate sales) so we ordered their mixed appetizer, three entrees: chicken tikka masala, a goat curry, and a vegetable dumpling dish, as well as garlic naan – of these the dumpling dish was the only noteworthy one. The food was just okay, not bad, not great. The bill would have been about $ 55 without our certificate.

Before I start… Yes, the chicken tikka masala was very good. BUT This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. We arrived on a Sunday evening after finding our sushi place closed. We had walked by Indian Oven and it smelled great, so we went back. As we walked in, no one was around and there appeared to be a large party in the room to the right. When we were finally seated after a few people poked out from the party room and kitchen, we noticed our waiter looked like a middle school kid. And acted like it. I understand, family businesses are able to run with low labor costs. Great. I love small business. So, we put up with it. We ordered the Chicken Tandoori and the Chicken Tikka Masala(and naan of course :). The tandoori arrived after a little while. We dug in cause we were so hungry. As we ate though, we noticed the chicken near the bone was totally raw. Seriously, pink and gelatinous. So we sent it back to be cooked more. They said, «Oh no, we’ll get you a new one.» The new one came a little later. But by that time, we were getting pretty hungry and impatient and hoping more would come out. We finished the redone tandoori. Then we waited and waited. Nothing came for another 20 minutes. I asked the waiter, «Is it going to be much longer?» He said it would be done soon, but then looked nervous and went into the back. In the back, we could hear the waiter and some other folks arguing about something. That made me think, «well, they must have forgot.» A more senior waiter came out and I said, «Hey, if you forgot, it’s okay, we’ll just be on our way. I know you have a big party, so it’s not a big deal.» We were thinking of getting a burrito. But the waiter insisted it wouldn’t be long. Another 10 minutes go by. We were literally putting on our coats when the senior waiter came out and said, «No please, stay, just a moment longer.» He then runs back and seems to be preparing it himself. He comes back with rice and the chicken tikka masala. Right after, he brings our naan out. The tikka masala was good. Very nice flavors. But the naan was lacking crispiness. After eating for a while, the senior waiter comes out again and replaces our half finished naan, commenting, «This one is fresher.» What? So you forget to make our food and then serve us stale naan from the big party? Really? But, the new naan was much better. After eating, we were ready to go home after way too long in this place. After we paid, we again put on our coats and were stopped as we were getting up by the senior waiter. «Please wait, we have something special for you.» My wife shoots him a look, and he said, «I mean, a dessert, not anything bad.» Okay. We sit back down. Then they bring us those little fried bread balls(I can’t think of the Indian name since we didn’t order it…). My wife, being unfamiliar with Indian food looked at me and said, «What the fuck is this?» True, it looked awful. And didn’t look special at all. I took a bite while the senior waiter said to my wife, «Please try it; it is full of honey!» She said, «No thanks.» It wasn’t spectacular. You can usually get all you want during the buffet. SO, in closing, it really isn’t worth the ordeal or the persistent waiters for a little bit of chicken tikka masala. Please consider skipping the whole thing.

What has happened here… The lunch buffet has shrunk to just a few trays of food, and the side buildings have become party areas. I use to enjoy the buffet so much. The tikka chicken is still so good, and the curry chicken tastey, service wonderful. The Keeman Naan… icky, powdery bread and no flavor. No spicy or mint sauce at the table. Sorry, I won’t be back… My tummy wasn’t happy afterwards either. The Village Tandoor for me.

Wow and WOW. We live in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Our kids are almost famous and working on a tv show in this area they call Chatsworth. After a long day of filming in 104 degree heat, we were HUNGRY. Lunch was about 6 hours ago. The production put us up in a hotel. We needed food. Well, actually, we needed wine. So we drove, looking for a place that sold wine. We found one. I expected a few choices of some nice red wine, but found a MOUNTAIN of wines. Anyways, that is another story. As we turned into the strip mall, we noticed a sign that said Indian Cuisine. We like Indian Cuisine. We thought it was closed. It was not. I walked inside and was not impressed. Not impressed until I met the staff. The place could use some work. As a matter of fact, they were actually doing some work when I grabbed a menu. But who cares, I was ordering take out. No time to use my iPad to see if this place would make us sick. We took a chance. I ordered. Now, the young man that took my order? Outstanding. Super helpful and totally interested in my order. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Gobi Aloo/Mutter and Naan. When I asked if rice was included he said no. But changed his mind. He said, complimentary. If you eat Indian often, you know that normally, prices are not in the«low» category. They are here! Prices were SO low, that I thought the food MUST be bad. The guy helping me was very concerned with how spicy we wanted the food. He genuinely cared how hot we wanted it! we basically played a game of faces at this point. I think after about 2 minutes of exchanging different degrees of «spicy-hot» faces, we agreed on spicy. Not the spicy that makes you sweat, but spicy that burns a bit. I am unable to use my iPad keypad to show you how the face I made looked, for that perfect spicy, but maybe it was like this. ;-/. Anyways, I have had a couple glasses of wine, so let me wrap this up. He told me the food would be good. He also told me I needed to sit down and have a glass of water as it was hot out. This guy wad awesome! After about 7 minutes, the food was ready. He brings out a HUGE bag. He meticulously folds the bag over and staples the top. Hands the bag to me with pride. I say thank you and he thanks me, for the 59th time. We get to the hotel and open that bag. DAMN!!! There is enough food for 20 people! And Naan? DAMN!!! Tons of it! We ate. It was AMAZING!!! Up there with the best I have had! And on top of that? Basically lunch special prices!!! I am excited to have the leftovers for breakfast tomorrow morning! If you live anywhere near here, or are even driving through and you like Indian food, stop here. Seriously. I am happy enough to write a review after 2 glasses of wine and that is not something I do. Hey guy who took my order tonight — -Thank YOU!
