THEY ARE NO LONGER AGENTS FOR ATLAS VAN LINES YET THEY ADVERTISE THAT THEY ARE. THEY MIS-​REPRESENT THEIR STORAGE FACILITY. THEY WILL DESTROY YOUR VALUABLES AND TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEM. READ ON TO UNDERSTAND WHY I HAVE WRITTEN THIS.
I trusted this business with my life’s possessions and they were GROSSLY NEGLIGENT and UNPROFESSIONAL in regards to moving and storage. I WAS a loyal customer having used them in 2010, but in the end suffered tens of thousand’s of dollars in loss due to careless packing, negligent storage, fees and rent.
GROSS NEGLIGENCE, DECEIT & THEFT: Jon Levine instructed his warehouse workers to throw my sofa away when they discovered it was ruined by water after leaving my vaults outside for months. They LIED and claimed that the sofa was mis-​placed. This sofa was part of a large Roche Bobois sectional that was very expensive. I was informed that they looked everywhere in their storage facility and just could not find it. Since all of my possessions were moved into crates, it was hard to understand how this could possibly happen. Did the owner REALLY think that I wouldn’t notice my couch was gone??? It’s only the largest piece of furniture I had.
WATER DAMAGE (see pictures): A mid-​century modern family heirloom suffered major water damage and breakage. Since I stored my items before moving across country, it was obvious that this cabinet had sat in water and then the water dried creating, cracking, peeling, warping of laminate and water stains. A restoration expert said he could attempt to renovate the piece but it would be expensive and might not look the same. In addition to this piece, other boxes had suffered water damage which left BLACK MOLD on anything of natural fibers (clothes, rugs, baskets, etc.). Other expensive pieces of furniture were scratched, warped or had bent hinges, all of this costing me to have repaired.
UNPROFESSIONAL: I spent hours filling out the claim forms, taking pictures, getting repair estimates and making sure I referenced each item, submitted the document and waited and waited for a response. Atlas was only responsible for the shipping so they attempted to contact JBL. The claims adviser informed me that Jon Levine would not return their calls after 2 weeks of trying.
As of this review, Jon Levine has not contacted me despite all the documentation, phone calls and messages from his staff.

Hubby and I recently used JBL to move, I cannot say enough about this company. We got a total of 4 estimates and their prices was the most competitive. The person that came to our house was Marc Weiss. He was wonderful. He explained everything to us and told us exactly what we were to expect. I felt very nervous at first but after seeing how professionally Marc handled our move, I felt so much better. I recommend this company to anyone looking to move soon. I know I will definitely use them again. When you call, be sure to ask for Marc Weiss.

Had I written this review a month ago, they would have received 4 – 5 stars. However, now the story has changed. I had my things stored with JBL for the past three years. It was great in the beginning… I was told that pick up and delivery were included since they are portable bins, not a traditional storage unit. They came to my home, loaded my storage bins for me, and drove them off to be stored while we were living in San Diego. Upon moving back to the area, I called to have my items delivered (what I believed to be free of charge per my original conversation with the company three years prior) and was told that there was a $ 490 delivery charge. $ 490!!! Are you kidding me??? They had me between a rock and a hard place, so I reluctantly agreed. The delivery guys were very nice i must say. But just when I thought I was through with this deceiving company, they charged me for an additional month’s rent. I called to question it because how can I be charged when I don’t have anything stored there anymore. Well, it’s been a week and still no call back. I just tried to call them again, and was told the office was closed, even though their hours start and 8am and I called at 8:20. Hmmm. Save yourself some annoyance and aggravation and avoid this company all together.

This is one of the WORST companies I have ever dealt with. I called several times over the past few weeks and spoke to Marc, he scheduled to have my things picked up this coming Sat. And I was unsure to the exact weight and room I would need for my move. So Marc Scheduled an appointment to come out and look at my things today (Weds.) at 9am. So that he could give me an exact estimate. Well he never showed up (3days until move) I called there office and spoke to Joey several times regarding the whereabouts of Marc he replied that he called Marc several times and cannot get him to answer the phone and I was not even on his calendar for today.
So I to tried to call Marc twice on his cell and left him one voicemail. He finally called me back really upset and told me he is not coming. he claimed he sat in the office with a witness by his side and left me a message (witness by his side?) and when I didn’t return his call to confirm he canceled my appointment for both the move and estimate. When I asked him when he called and informed him I never received the message he told me he didn’t have to deal with me and my attitude and hung up!
So needless to say I would NOT recommend this company

I will first say that I have used JBL several times for past moves. Unfortunately, this will be the last time, nor will I refer them any longer.
I had a move scheduled, Mark came out and wrote up the estimate. Originally, I was going to move the boxes. The plan changed and I called JBL and let them know well in advance that I would need for them to include the boxes. I spoke with Joey and his words were, «That is what we are here for to make it easier». Perfect. I was notified that there would be an additional charge which I expected and agreed to.
The day of the move, 3 men showed up and immediately the lead said that he did not think he could get it all in one load. OK, I was exhausted and emotional and they were very nice but clearly not particularly organized. One would start something and the lead would call them away and parts of things were getting done but nothing at one time completed.
They filled the truck and we went to the new house. I asked that specific boxes stay in the garage in some orderly manner. The lead asked that they put all the boxes in the garage until the big stuff was in. OK, if that is best. I must tell you that I am a 4’11, single mom doing this on my own so I was really counting on them for the assistance.
Mid way through unloading the 2^nd trip the lead came to me at about 8:00 pm and said, «We are just too tired, things are going to get sloppy would it be ok if we come back in the morning, there will be no charge to you». I said ABSOLUTELY. The lead said he called the office, let them know the plan, that he and one additional guy would be back. Meanwhile, they brought a couple items that were specifically identified that were to stay which then, they had to deliver back. (= additional trips+ time)
When they were leaving I tipped them each $ 100 not realizing the disaster that was left. I had boxes stacked up 4 – 5 high with no regard for the little ones that were on the bottom, heavy boxes on top of fragile boxes. I was completely overwhelmed after they left. I was also not entirely comfortable with the fact that they did not finish unloading the truck and left with many of my things.
In the morning I noticed the damage to my brand new hardwood floors and walls. This was NOT how I expected this move to go. I met them and explained that I needed them to take out the stacked boxes so that I could see what is there and to take in or up specific boxes. OK, kind of begrudgingly. They went on to load up the truck again for what was to be the last time.
While the lead seemed like a nice man when he spoke directly to me he was shaking his head and cursing when he thought he was out of earshot. They were at that point basically just dumping things out of the truck, they were not careful with the boxes, furniture or floors.
They picked up additional items that I clearly stated were to remain at the house and left essential items. When you unplug a television, bring the cable and keep them together which they did not do. When I asked them about it he said «There were a lot of cables and I was not sure which to bring». WHAT!!! Bring the one you unplugged that plugs into the television!
I called Joey notifying him that this was not going well, that it was taking FAR longer than expected, as it was now 2:00 the 2^nd day. I explained what was going on and my concerns but asked that he not call them as I did not want angry men in the house moving my things. He called anyway and an angry man was what I got. The amount of broken items is unfathomable. I threw away almost an entire set of glasses that were not only wrapped and marked «FRAGILE» but also protected by a towel on top and a towel on the bottom of the box to ensure that they would arrive safely.
All of that aside when it was over and it came time to settle the bill it was basically double what was expected! DOUBLE!!! I called the company and spoke to Joey who was again very nice and then the owner, John got on the phone. Quite honestly, I have never been spoken to the way this man spoke to me, he was condescending and patronizing and basically telling me what his guy said directly to me never happened. I was charged for the 2^nd day and all the time they took going back and forth because they took the wrong items and did not originally schedule this move correctly. There are thousands of dollars in damage to my floors, furniture and items. NEVER use them, NEVER!

I’m please to say that I spoke with Kelly and the issue was corrected. And very rare news: John (CEO) called me. Not once but TWICE! He apologized several times and explained that he could not return my call on the day the «incident with Mark» took place because of a very personal reason. I was shocked and very impressed that he took the time (twice) to call me and explain. Furthermore, to show his appreciation to a long-​time customer he is going to credit me with one month rental fee.
Again, I was so impressed and grateful that John took the time to deal with a customer service issue. This proves that not only does he run and top-​rated business, he is very much «hands on» as a Business Owner.
So in short, I now once again HIGHLY RECOMMEND JBL MOVERS AND STORAGE. I have been a customer for 20+ years and only had one complaint. Granted it was a doozy of a complaint but John put out this fire as soon as he was able to.
Again, THANKS TO JOHN, JOEY and the Amazing KELLY for all they have done over the last 20 years.
Other business owners should learn from John thereby avoiding any negative criticism on Unilocal or any other site.

Jon Levine, owner of JBL Moving & Storage, called me and asked me to remove my post, that he’d make everything right, and apologized. For our damaged items, and our time & effort to repair them… including broken lamps and our bed frame, and heavy furniture that was supposed to be moved upstairs but left in the garage, he sent me a check for $ 200. I spent more than that on breakfast, lunch, water bottles, Gatorade/​soft drinks, and tips for his crew! Jon offered, «AT NO EXPENSE TO US,» to send movers to come back and take the furniture up that was left downstairs in the garage. I’m pretty sure we had already PAID HIM to move those things in the first place… so thanks for that. If we were able to move ourselves, we would have done it! No one has called or come over to actually move those things though. Shortly after receiving that whopping check for all their mistakes, in the middle of the night, our bed frame broke. We looked under our bed to see what had happened, and found 4 legs, taped together, hidden at the back wall, instead of being screwed into the support slats to help support them in the center… and a piece of the finished side rail broken off. I informed Jon of this new finding, but have heard nothing back. We advised our family and they chose a new moving and storage company. They were very happy with the job JBL’s competitors did. It saddens me to write this post because I know Jon started this company with just a pick-​up truck and built it from the bottom up. It’s certainly no excuse for the work he is doing now! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! He only cared about the Unilocal review, not two senior citizens who were definitely ripped off and taken advantage of. I tried to move one of the heavy lamps upstairs myself, but I tripped in the doorway and it fell on top of me, bruising my chest and hand, and breaking the lamp… for this I paid good money!

JBL has performed several moves for our company now and each time it’s been an easy and seamless process. They’re responsive, provide a quick quote and arrive on time, ready to go on moving day. It really can’t be any easier.

JBL screwed me.
I moved from a 2 BR apartment in Santa Monica to a 2 BR co-​op in Nevada. After researching JBL and seeing very few complaints & many praises in their reviews, I opted for them even though their quote was significantly higher than the cheapest of the three I had come for estimates.
I should have been alerted by the many small mistakes at the beginning, but I let their good reviews sway me.
‘Small’ mistakes:
1. Marc (the estimator) couldn’t find my place, though he apparently lives in SM. He put the wrong street in his search and had to call me for directions. Careless.
2. Marc couldn’t email me correctly because he spelled my name & email address incorrectly. Careless.
3. They spelled my name wrong on the estimates. I assume this was again carelessness, but I have to wonder. The end result was that when it all fell apart I didn’t have anything signed by them and could only look elsewhere with no legal recourse. We hadn’t signed because they assured me they would quickly send me a new estimate with the correct spelling, so I waited for documents that never came.
4. Marc gave me bad instructions re reserving a parking spot for the truck. The specific space he told me to reserve was in direct violation of SM law. He claimed it was trivial to obtain, but in SM they do not permit the movers to park on the opposite side of the street. Careless or incompetent? It hardly matters which.
5. ****Meanwhile, they told me that if I waited until ⁸⁄₁₉ (original planned date to move was ⁸⁄₇) their non-​peak rates would kick in and save me over $ 1500. So I said ‘sure!’ and waited some more.****
6. Promised callback? Never happened. Email request for status update? Unanswered.
7. 10 days utterly wasted. That’s how long it took for them to eventually tell me that they could not service me at all! They began with «8÷7… no problem, 8÷19… no problem» and ended with «Sorry for the inconvenience but…», and it took them 10 days to let me know. And of course they had still not sent the promised paperwork, so I was simply up the creek without a paddle (i.e. signature) and had to look elsewhere.
8. They bailed because somebody else bailed on them, making the trip more costly. But when initially agreeing to serve me they never once mentioned that my situation was dependent on other people moving too, or any other conditions at all. They said they could do it, period. If conditions entirely out of my control applied they had an ethical responsibility to inform me of it beforehand. And by stringing me along for the cheaper ⁸⁄₁₉ rate they ensured a 10 day delay before I began to look elsewhere.
In the end they cost me $ 400 – 500 more in additional rent, a 10-​day delay, and additional stress. Moving is stressful enough; they’re supposed to relieve some of it, not add to it.
Hmmmmmm… two sicknesses (their excuse for not getting back to me), one failed email account, my address wrong, my name wrong, zero status updates, 10 days completely wasted, bad info re the street parking … Is there perhaps a pattern here?
I felt like an afterthought pretty much from the beginning, but I let the significantly lower complaint level sway me.
If you go with these guys, get it in writing, and stay on top of them every day for status. Personally, I won’t go near them again.

Wow! Things Have CHANGED! Not for the better…
I had a great experience with these folks moving me two years ago. So good In fact, still on Unilocal today, is my glowing review. They were so good, I gave their name to my son and they moved him a year later.
The reason for writing this review update is that I guess things have CHANGED SUBSTANTIALLY.
I called their offices TODAY as I am again moving and very much wanted to do business with them again. I called and got their Operations Manager, Joey Meeks, on the phone today. As I was describing where we are geographically, Joey began to seem very hesitant to want my business. I asked him about that hesitancy and he suddenly got all offended and then literally 1) BLEW UP AT ME on the phone and then 2) HUNG UP ON ME! This is a HUGE problem if your considering using them moving as the Operations Managers runs all the details and logistics of your move.
Suffice it to say, I won’t do business with these guys any more and could no longer recommend that you do either. This is a shame, these guys were great to me last time (referenced by my Unilocal review and giving them my sons business). I feel betrayed because I wrote such a good Unilocal review for them 2 years ago and gave them my sons business as well.
As a business owner myself, I can’t think of anything that would ever justify hanging up on a highly referenceable customer. If he was on my payroll, by 5pm tonight HE’D BE ON THE STREET LOOKING FOR A NEW JOB.

The entire team was terrific on my move from Santa Monica to Scottsdale. From the first call I made to Steven at the office, to Joey in operations, to the estimate from Marc Weiss, the response time to any questions I had pertaining to my move and helpful hints was amazing. When the driver and main packer Steve came to my apartment with Jorge, Sergio and Justin, the entire team carefully packed my stuff and methodically moved into the semi trailer. The driver and main packer, Steven, noticed I was very nervous, said to me not worry about the move and that there were going to take care of everything. He was good to his word. After my my stuff was packed in Santa Monica, he let me know the exact day of my delivery of my stuff and would call me the night before to confirm with me. He did exactly what he said he would do. At nine in the morning, he showed up at my new place. He and his helper methodically and carefully moved my stuff to my new place. Considering I moved out of California to Arizona, the entire team at JBL was terrific. Best move ever.

Not a very good Move!
JBL moved me just 6 miles and managed to do more damage in that short drive than any of the three previous movers I’ve used in the past to move hundreds of miles.
Their lead guy half-​way took apart my new platform bed and when I questioned him about how he was doing it, he said «I’ve done this quite a few times and I know what I’m doing.» Obviously NOT! He tried to pull out the embedded hardware in the bed breaking the wood. He removed the cross supports and then manhandled the platform pulling on it until it fractured. Then they got it jammed sideways in the elevator at the new condo.
I called JBL a few days after telling them there was a problem with my bed, but a week later no one had STILL gotten back to me. The next night the bed collapsed while my husband and I were in bed. We had to go out on Sunday morning and buy a new bed or sleep on the floor. The lead guy who actually caused all this trouble did finally call me, TWO WEEKS LATER!
The ultimate insult was that while the two guys were trying to put the bed together after breaking it, the one remaining young guy and I actually hauled the furniture up to my second floor condo by ourselves.
They also managed a four inch scrape in the plaster of my newly painted ceiling, put five gashes in the new paint on the living room walls and scratched the paneling in the elevator (which I had to repair per the homeowners Assn). I have two big dirty hand prints on my tapestry chairs after they assured me they’d plastic wrap them to keep them from getting dirty.
I know you don’t always get the «A» team but I think I got the F team. I had three guys that took 9 hrs to move a fully packed 2 bedroom house 5 miles. I felt pressured to give them a review while they stood over me, before they’d give me the final bill.
I chose these guys because they got such good reviews on Unilocal.I’d like to know who these other people used because I don’t think that was the team I got. The office staff was professional and helpful but the final price came to almost three hundred dollars more than than I was quoted from two other local companies. WON’T use them again, would not recommend them to anyone I like.

This place has a professional moving team that works efficiently and gets there on time. Rates are also reasonable. Highly recommended!

I used JBL for a huge move three weeks ago. They were a really good team for a really hard move. Everybody was professional. There were two pieces that I didn’t get a chance to have put in the correct spot during the move. The owner, John, sent two people the very next morning to make sure everything was in the correct spot. He also sent somebody to collect all of the boxes two weeks later.

I’ve used JBL 3 times before in the past 5 years and each and every single time… they deliver! The movers are on time, very polite, don’t hang out and take their time trying to «Milk it»! They took great care of all of my furniture and belongings and got it done quickly! I couldn’t be happier with this company and would recommend them to anyone I know that is moving! I’d give these guys 10 stars if I could!

JBL moved my belongings in a local move just after the new year. JBL made sure that there were enough movers to get the job done in the estimated time. The crew was prompt and attentive. The movers asked us where we wanted to place our stuff and helped put floor protectors on our furniture. Nothing was damaged during the move as the crew made sure they handled the boxes and stuff with due care. Walls in the new house were ding-​free. The move finished ahead of schedule and the job came in under estimate. I would highly recommend JBL for all yor moving needs.

After seeing my review, Jon contacted me and asked if there was anything he could do to correct to the situation. I appreciated his apology and he offered to help cover the cost of the hotel for the week I had to wait for my things.

I was SO nervous about moving. I had heard so many nightmare stories and was totally prepared for the worst! I have to say, I was SOOOOOOOOOOOO surprised at how easy everything was. This company is VERY professional, the workers are truly amazing, hard working and do what they do with a smile on their face. Grateful beyond words that this experience was so terrific. Made moving day a breeze. I HIGHLY recommend!

I would give them ten stars if I could! Wonderful, Professional, Courteous, Excellent Customer Service! Worth every penny we paid. We will definitely use them again.
I found JBL on the Better Business Bureau website and was impressed that they had no complaints logged. I had one terrible cross-​country moving experience and I did not want a repeat so this time I did my due diligence and found JBL.
Tony and Pedro were fabulous, so nice! We never had to ask them to wrap things or tell them to be careful because they did it as part of their job.
It was a long, exhausting day and both men kept their cool the entire time, more than that, they endeavored to make the experience pleasant for me and my husband. I really can’t say enough about this company other than… HIRE THEM!!!

JBL just finished a move for us from Los Angeles to Henderson, NV. When the company representative came to our house to give us an estimate, we were promised a perfect, on time, price guaranteed move.
What we got was not only what was promised but more.
Tim and his crews on both ends of the move treated our possessions like they were their own. Everything was wrapped in both blankets and clear plastic. Boxes were treated like everyone was filled with eggs. Carpet runners were laid and crews kept washing their hands to make sure nothing got soiled. The term professional would be an understatement.
If you plan to move, you HAVE to call JBL.
