Shutters and More is a family owned business located in Los Angeles California. Founded in 1966 by the Roberts family and operated by them until 1999 when it was purchased by Barry Sable, a general contractor. «I have been in the construction business all my life. My grandfather was a contractor, my father was a contractor, and I have been a licensed contractor in California since 1979. I use the very best materials, and the best skilled craftsmen to manufacture and install. We use no sub-​contractors only in-​house employees. We do everything the best way we can. If I could make anything better, I would, as I know that customers compare and buy on merit and value.» Barry personally goes out and measures every job for the perfect fit and design .” Measure twice and cut once has been drummed into me since I was a boy”. Barry’s son Claude is the general manager and handles the showroom facility and scheduling.

We searched a couple years and interviewed many shutter contractors, and only this company was comfortable in delivering on our unique requirements; Barry, Dave and his team delivered the 20 large shutters to our utmost satisfaction. We needed low-​footprint shutters that cleared casement window handles and gear, could fit in a very small window and at the same time was inside-​mounted, with precision cuts to ensure they fit in our existing window openings with uneven casings and jambs. The team came out to prefit the rough-​cut shutters and then gave us precisely cut shutters as a final product that seem they have always been there with the windows. They made smart, small adjustments to ensure the window handles and gear clear the tight space between the window and shutters. These are the type of high-​end skills which make this company uniquely qualified to handle sophisticated requirements and make your project happen. They gave us a solution that satisfied both privacy and visibility requirements by recommending the top quarter of louvers be controlled independent of the bottom, which worked very well for us as well.

Shutters and More is really outstanding. I just had my third purchase of shutters from this company and they turned out perfectly. I had some unusual windows that required some custom work and I wanted them painted a specific color. Shutters and More had no problem handling the work. The shutters look really nice and were installed professionally.
In my last house, I had plantation shutters throughout the house. I used Shutters and More to do most of them. At one point, a dear friend insisted that I use someone else that he knew to do some shutters. The shutters were not as good and the workers came late on two occassions! Luckily, I had Shutters and More do the remaining work on the house. They even moved one set of the inferior shutters to a less noticeable area of the house. BTW, Shutters and More installed plantation shutters on some of my French doors in my last house. I wasn’t sure that I would like shutters on the French doors but they turned out great – they looked good, we could open the doors easily, and the shutters reduced the heat that the doors caused in hot weather. Obviously, I highly recommend Shutters and More.

Our initial purchase with Shutters and More was in 1998 when we first moved into our home. We had Shutters and More install shutters downstairs (living room, family room and dining rooms). A few years later, they installed shutters in our stairwell window. Then a few years later we had all of our upstairs done (2 guest rooms, master bed and bath and guest bathroom). Just recently, I called because some of our magnets were broke and a few staples were missing. They called back immediately ad I made an appointment. The purchases that I made over the years had a Lifetime Guarantee. They came out and replaced the magnets and fixed the missing staples. We are so happy we gave our business to Shutters and More. They are an excellent company to do business with. We may have a few more windows (i.e. kitchen) that we’ll go to Shutters and More.

I was searching for a shutter manufacturer/​installer for a couple weeks. I called 5 different companies and got several estimates. Prices ranged from outrageous to extremely cheap for what I was looking for. I had a total of 18 windows I wanted to cover and majority of them were very large windows not your average standard size. Out of the 5 companies, three of them were recommending that I install vinyl (plastic) shutters. I wanted to steer away from vinyl because they look very cheap. I prefer the look of wood shutters even though mine were going to be painted white not stained. Barry came along and didn’t give me the same song and dance as others. He cut to the chase and explained what he has to offer and invited me to come down to his showroom and see what he has. At that point I upgraded my shutter casings to match exactly with my door casings. No other shutter company offered this. Barry also color matched my shutters to the rest of the doors and trim inside my house at no additional cost. His prices are very reasonable and the quality of manufacturing is impeccable. I would definitely recommend Shutters and More if you are looking for real wood shutters for your home.

We wanted plantation shutters over our very tall and wide patio doors. It is not only a huge investment, but a big decision on how the shutters should open, how many panels to have, etc… I had 5 different estimates but nobody felt quite right until a friend referred me to Shutters and More. Barry really stands out as a total professional, but also down to earth. He has so much integrity and is so knowledgeable. I love that the shutters are solid wood. Other (more expensive) companies said that solid wood wouldn’t be possible to have on such large patio doors. I also love that they are made in California. They are so beautiful! I smile every time I walk in my living room. It changed the entire look of the room. The louvers operate so smoothly and the finish is lovely. I had to write this review because it is such an overwhelming decision and I’m so relieved I made the right choice.

We used Barry Sable Shutters & More to do our whole house. All windows, sliding door sets and closet doors. The shutters are perfect, the finish feels like velvet. Installation was on time and some spots were difficult but they were able to get it all in perfectly. If you are in the market for shutters… there is only one contractor to use. If you are price checking against the big box store forget it. Barry is quality, the others are not, it is that simple. Recommended to two friends, both are thrilled.
