I ate at mellow mushroom tonight with some of our friends. The server brought out the pizza my boyfriend and I were sharing, and it was cooked normally… I told her that I had specified we were vegan. She apologized for forgetting to include that in the description when she rang in our food. The manager came out and offered us to munch on this pizza until they bring out a new one. We declined. She then added, «For the new pizza, would you like vegan cheese on the whole thing or just half?» Dumfounded, I stared at her and said, «Ma’am. We’re vegan, so vegan cheese please. We don’t want this pizza. We literally CANNOT eat it.» And she was like, «Oh. I apologize. I just thought I’d ask because some vegans come in and ask for a pizza that has a mixture between the vegan and normal cheeses.» And I’m thinking NO. What are you talking about??! There is absolutely NO vegan out there who would agree to consume dairy. Anyway. 10 minutes later, the manager returned and told us that the pesto base on our pizza wasn”t vegan and if we still wanted it. Seriously!!! I’ve eaten at this location twice and ordered the same pizza. Servers told us it was vegan. APPARENTLY, they used to put nuts in the pesto sauce. But due to many nut allergies, Mellow Mushroom steered away from how pesto sauce originally should be made and instead, added parmesan to it. WHY! WHYWASTHISNEVERBEFOREMENTIONED. Vegans aren’t treated as seriously in today’s society. We shouldn’t have to eat at restaurants and claim that we’re «lactose-intolerant vegetarians,» but I feel like management wouldn’t be so ignorant if we said that. Anyway, she comped the mess-up pizza and took 25% off our meal. I find this ridiculous. I work in a restaurant myself, and if something like this happened, the whole meal would have been comped. There should be a staff meeting at any restaurant whenever something on the menu gets altered because the servers should KNOW what they’re serving to the customers. That’s reasonable.

Want a meal with an experience? With so many delicious places to eat in Chattanooga the mellow mushroom didn’t disappoint. My goodness! The Philosophers Pizza Pie has an Olive oil and garlic base, all natural grilled steak, Portobello mushrooms, artichoke hearts, Kalamata olives, Provolone, feta and mozzarella cheeses. It would have been just as good without the steak and I LOOOVE me some steak. It’s a pizza deserving of a black tie restaurant in a bit of a hippie, whimsical atmosphere equally for kids and adults. 5 stars from me!

I waited 7 minutes without so much as a water when seated at the bar. The food at this location is bland, dry, and as fulfilling as masturbation with sand. Sorry I’m graphic, but they are mediocre on a good day. This has just set a new low. Good job, the concert was well under way, don’t blame a crowd.

Great service, huge menu, delicious food, awesome beer list. Neat place to go for lunch or dinner. Sat in the shade on the patio. Loved the interior art/décor. Very clean bathrooms. Manager even stopped by to say hello. Dad loved the caesar salad. Thought the lunch special for a slice and salad $ 6 was perfect:) Will definitely be back! Thank you!

The staff at this location are super rude. The place is packed on a Thursday night at 10 pm and the bar tender yells last call? People walk in right at 10 pm and the kitchen screams«We are closed». Soooo rude. Staff, you make money on tips and the customers who walk through the door providing said tips. We are so sorry that you guys are busy and making money. Let us know what hours of operation would suit your delicate schedules and we will stay at home with our gracious tips next time. Managers do better… this is a direct reflection on your lack of management given that the female MOD was the one who gave permission to give last call one second after 10pm. The look on customers faces on the way out said it all, total frustration at being treated with such a lack of respect. And before the SIN champions come to your aide, I worked in the SIN most my life so yeah I get it but you owe each of those patrons the same courtesy as the early customers as they to help pay your rent. Do better Mello, really it was embarrassing.

Mellow Mushroom’s Pretzels and Beer Cheese never lets me down and in Chattanooga — this was no different this time. The customer service at this location was fantastic. Liam was our waiter and was very attentive and when a slight mistake was made he was very humble and kind. The manager compensated us for part of our food. The whole staff just made what could have been a very frustrating situation — absolutely amazing!

Very slow, we waited for like 40 mins for the pizza when it’s not even busy in the afternoon. Will not recommend this to anyone who is in a hurry. Also our waiter was not very good at all because he was stopping to talk to his coworkers instead of serving. Very disappointing experience overall!

Mellow Mushroom is quintessentially Chattanoogan in its laid-back, unique vibe. It is definitely a must-eat if you are in town for a weekend trip or are spending the day downtown. The pizzas are very good(though not comparable to New York style pizza) and unique in flavor and ingredients. Perfectly paired with a beer from draft. This is a fun place to take the kids, as the atmosphere is creative and exciting. It is also great for a date night. The service is always great, with laid-back but attentive waiters always willing to offer their opinion on whatever food you are looking to order. Highly recommended!

Staying less than two blocks away we couldn’t resist getting take out from here! Everyone was super friendly and the food was great. The 10in pizza or the calzone is perfect for 1 – 2 people depending on how hungry you are and the cheese bread is tasty as well.

The place is huge… like seriously huge, it doesn’t seem necessary. It’s also kinda loud so it’s hard to hear. Tge service is very good, servers and staff are really friendly and like to chat. The pizza is good, the flavors are really nice however… it’s a bit greasy. I got the mushroom pizza and had a puddle of grease on my plate.

Great atmosphere, great pizza, and great service. The quality of the food is always exceptional regardless of the location you visit. While it’s on the upper end of pricing for pizza it’s without a doubt some of the best pizza you’ll ever have. We’re always pleased with our visits to Mellow Mushroom and the leftovers the next day are my favorite part! Pro-tip: Reheat your pizza at 350* for 7 minutes

Once again, Brooks at the bar outshines the great pizza and beer selection. His attention to customer service and the ability to make a semi regular feel special is what makes our monthly visits so much more special. Thanks, Brooks. You’re the best. Save the Ta-Ta’s!

I had lunch at MM yesterday and sat at one of the High top tables in the bar area and the bar is L shaped and big. Most of MM tables inside are booths on each side with tables down the middle. They do have metal table chairs outside — maybe 5 or 6. It is rustic with cute pics on the wall. It is ideally located across from the Aquarium, Market Street Bridge and the river. Street parking and paid parking available nearby and there is covered parking in the same block and when you get off the elevator, you are right at the restaurant. Just FYI parking is free on the streets on Sunday and during the week after 5:30PM, I believe. MM is a pizza place with a selection of great pizzas as well as sandwiches and typical bar type food. The pizza selection is great and the combinations of toppings seem endless. They also have a huge selection of draught beers(+1) and a full bar. My guest had Bud Light Draught and I had the Chattanooga local brew — OKOK we had 2 each. We could not decide on one pizza so we bought a medium, ½ meat lovers and ½ with caramel onions and chicken I believe(I ate the Meat lovers so can’t comment on the other side but my guest loved it. The waiter was great and we ordered a medium pizza but they gave us a large by accident so that was OK. Food was hot and delicious and service was great. It gets a 4 from me. FOROURVISITORSTOCHATTANOOGA — For our visitors who are not aware, Chattanooga has a free electric shuttle bus that runs every five minutes or so from the Chattanooga Choo Choo Holiday Inn(near main and Market) to the Aquarium(which is about 14 blocks from the Choo Choo); with numerous stops along the way. if you want to go to the north shore, just change shuttles — Check it out at .

I’m giving this another star for the sole reason that management replied and sincerely want to know how to make people’s experiences better. That speaks volumes. That is awesome.

I’m giving the MM two stars and not one as a benefit of the doubt because we had it delivered by some third party company. MM referred me to them so I should hold it against them but I’ll give the cold meal responsibility to the delivery folks. As for the food, it was as follows: Small Caesar salad with chicken — almost nothing but lettuce and the chicken on the side. Two burnt pieces of something in the chicken container and SOFT croutons… Hardly much to discuss Portobello mushroom cap app — small, barely stuffed with much and lost in a bed or wilted greens. Neither of us could eat more than a bite. Mild chicken wings — horrible. Burnt. Bad. Flavorless. Totally disappointing to be honest. If I can post the picture I will. Caprese salad — my wife just wrinkled her nose. The best of a horrible meal. All in all, I’ve been to other MMs and this was just an awful meal. Don’t get it delivered and maybe order light in person before you go all in. We wasted our meal.

So I reviewed Mellow Mushroom Waterside a couple of weeks ago and now it’s the Downtown location that gets my attention. Again, went for Team Trivia night. Was seated in a secret back room I never knew existed. It was a pretty good size with lots of TVs. Even one GIGANTIC screen. This was obviously not their first rodeo aka trivia night, and they were pretty organized and already had tables separated for teams, big & small. I was forewarned that it can get pretty crowded so I showed up early to grab a table for my team. Luckily that meant I got to partake of the Happy Hour that ends at 7:00 p.m. I ordered a Three Olives Pomegranate & Tonic for $ 3. It was yummy. Not too sweet, but refreshing and hit the spot, so I quickly ordered another one before the cut off time. Phew… just got in under the clock. I also ordered the pretzel bites appetizer, which really aren’t pretzels, but bits of pizza dough with butter and cheese on them and come with a side of sauce for dipping. They were warm and chewy and the sauce was slightly sweet and thick. Very nice little bite. Then I ordered the ½ size hummus plate. The hummus was super good, tasted fresh made, and the warm pita bread was the perfect vessel to smear the hummus on. I almost ate the whole thing, but saved a couple pieces for my friend. Lastly, I ordered 2 of the $ 5 small cheese pizzas. Sometimes you just really need a good cheese pizza. This was tasty, but I could have used a tad more cheese on it. Nonetheless, it fed the three of us with leftovers for later. Our server, Dalton, was great. He checked with us often enough and made sure we were ok. He had to handle a few tables trying to get those Happy Hour orders in and did so with patience. He even made sure to get my 2nd drink in just before the cut-off. The servers who work the trivia nights are great and should be tipped generously. I did notice there was quite the hipster vibe going on in there. Not a bad thing, just an observation. Cook but friendly people. Thanks again, MM for a great location.

Huge fan of MM, since eating at their original location in the 70’s. If there’s a location close by I know the food will be delicious. We went with the MELLOWTERRANEAN and ended up talking to the guy sitting at the bar next to us with his HOLYSHIITAKEPIE — long story short we ended up swapping stories and slices — turn out he was from West Palm, small world. Great beer selection, local as well as hard to find brews. Be advised, with the aquarium across the street this place fills up quick.

I like this mellow mushroom more than the one in memphis. Excellent pizza and they’re more generous with the toppings. Cool atmosphere, good location.

Despite the occasional minor bumps that happen(all readily fixed so no big deal), I continue to be a frequent MM visitor and fan. This update is for one small but delicious reason: the hummus. I had no idea! Delicious, perfect texture — garnished with diced tomato(and a few olives but easy to pick around if you prefer, as I do) — tasty toasted pita points. And. .. $ 3 weekdays during happy hour after 3pm. Sold, to the woman with the laptop!
