April’s On the Pike

I was out for a drive this morning and just happened on April’s so I stopped in for breakfast. Had an excellent ham and egg breakfast with great service and a friendly atmosphere. Felt like I was on «Cheers» where everybody knows you. Will definitely go back again. Great prices too.

My family had a coupon so we decided to try out this restaurant for breakfast this morning. The interior was clean, with homey interior, it has a very mom and pop vibe, no frills. The menu was very limited, but your typical breakfast staples with a few quirks. The staff was very friendly and you could tell that they took pride in their business which was highly appreciated.
I orded scrambled eggs with cheese, home fries and chocolate chip pancakes. The home fries were average, but not too bad and the eggs were fluffy, the perfect consistency. The pancakes weren’t the best, or maybe I’m just picky about my pancakes. They tasted too much like bisquick, I prefer homemade. They put a lot of icky margarine on them and the syrup was the fake stuff.
I asked for a water with lemon and I was given a squeeze bottle of lemon juice, I kinda like real lemons. My parents enjoyed their meals especially the johnny cakes that they both ordered. My sister got a Belgian waffle with strawberries, the strawberries were sad unthawed berries though. I’ve never eaten bacon before, but her bacon was very undercooked, it was highly limp.
This restaurant was ok, the staff was the biggest plus, but the food was simply mediocre. My parents said they would go back again, but I’m not too sure about that.
