I have always been fearful of cutting my hair short but always wanted to. Bonnie is by far the best stylist I’ve ever had. She took her time with me and when we finally took the plunge and cut it short, I totally loved it. I get compliments almost everyday on my hair. I am older and felt that short hair would age me, it turned out to be quite the opposite. She recently started doing my color and now my look is totally fresh, youthful and sexy! Love Love Love Bonnie!

Every time I walk out of here I feel beautiful. Very professional and courteous staff. If you need a recommendation for a great stylist, see Carmella. She’s been doing my hair for years and is amazing!

I often say, to anyone who will listen, that Jersey is just a road to the shore. At 3:30pm today Spice Salon in Cherry Hill, became another reason to voluntarily cross the Delaware River in the Garden State. In a manner similar to being the new student at school, entering the world of a new salon can be intimidating. The staff at Spice reminded me of that moment when you are standing in front of your new peer group searching for an inkling of welcome in unfamiliar territory. Newents(shorthand for new clients) at Spice are given a quick but thorough tour of the salon, including the on-trend boutique, service pods and locations where one can take a bio break conducted by one of the«Welcome Crew» dressed in the millennium version of Robert Palmer’s Addicted to Love ladies. Orientation done, you are left in the pod where your first or perhaps only service will commence. For this reviewer I landed in Tara, colorist supreme, world. Despite having at least three full craniums of hair involved in various stages of color 101, Tara politely excused herself from cranium #1 to welcome me into her world, no hard sell, just a nice relaxed please sit here followed by a casual line of non-judgement color my world questions. Soon a binder with options overwhelming to most came forth and Tara, ever astute, observant and genuine helped to guide me to the best color solution. As I sat there allowing the color magic to happen, I had time to visually experience Spice. Why there were a few light bulbs out in the Adams Family meets Wayfair chandelier, overall Spice is a very clean, well maintained salon with a black, crème and this seasons it color masala palette. Nothing unique, but a solid visual. Another example of how seamless and well executed Spice is became evident when Roselle a woman who clearly puts the hip in hipster slipped into a chair adjacent to mine, casually asking what haircut I had in mind. There was no pretense, no I am doing you a favor attitude. We had a dialogue, honest, and forthright. Aside from her obvious talent, Roselle incorporated social media into my decision making process, pulling Pinterest up on her iPad(a much slicker option, than torn, tattered and germ filled magazines). The end result far and away exceeded all expectations.

Must see Carmela. Gave me a haircut, styled in some curls and a braid. Looked too good to just run errands in.

I went here for my 1st DevaCut. I have several friends who get devacuts and recommended for my very curly hair. I called and made an appt with Kristy. When I made the appt I asked the girl how I needed to come… wet hair, dry hair, product etc. She went and asked one of the stylists who told her clean and dry but no product. When I arrived for my appt, Kristy said she didnt know why they told me that, as I was supposed to come with my hair dry and styled the way I normally do my hair. She said it was fine though and it wouldn’t be a problem. Weird thing #1. I showed her a picture of a cut I was interested in getting. She told me she wouldn’t be able to do that cut as a devacut. She would only be able to do it if she wet my hair which is not a devacut. Weird thing #2. So I said nevermind as the whole purpose of me coming was to get a devacut. She started cutting my hair and I was a little surprised at what she was doing. She was not using a comb which was good but she was definitely pulling out my hair straight and then cutting… which kind of defeats the purpose of cutting the hair dry so you can see the curls and how much you are taking off. I read the book from the person who invented devacut and you are supposed to cut at the top of the«c» of the curl. I asked her about this and she said, oh no thats not a devacut and i’m really not putting that much tension. ok…whatever. I’m not the stylist but this was definitely not how I understood the devacut process. That was weird thing #3. Anyway. She finished the cut and brought me over to the shampoo girl. The girl shampooed my hair with regular shampoo first and then the no poo shampoo… I thought that was a little strange considering the whole thing with the Devacurl method is to stay away from regular shampoo and only use sulfate free products – the No Poo being that. Weird thing #4! So, I pretty much like my hair. I don’t love it and I definitely do not think it was worth the $ 75+tip I paid considering one of my friends gets her devacut for $ 45. I will not be going back. If I ever decide to get a devacut again I will go to my friend’s salon where I know they do a legit devacut for $ 30 less!

I am really picky about who can cut my hair/color it since I have long, dark, and thick hair. My friend who has fabulous hair recommended that I should come to Spice Salon and request Franco. «Franco, he is fabulous!» she said to me. I was happy to take her advice since he has done wonderful work to my hair. He has kept my hair long, but the layers and angles look nice and I am able to cut my hair every three months. I have also let him highlight my hair and I am love with the results. The caramel highlights look natural among my dark hair and look even better with I curl my hair. I have been going to this salon for over a year and I am happy with the services. My mom who is also picky with people who can cut her hair, received her first hair cut from Franco a few weeks ago. She was in love with the cut and my dad took her out to dinner to show off her new look :)

I have tried a lot of salons in South Jersey since my mother has been working in salons and spas for most of my life. I just recently started going here this past year and all I have to say is wow! I LOVEMYHAIRCUT! I have long, thick, dark brown, hair and the lady who cuts my hair(Fran) is awesome! She keep my hair very long but also gives me layers and angles from the chin down. I honestly have to say she has given me the best hair cut of my life(which I was not expecting). There are tons of layers but my hair is still long and the layers are blended(not choppy). The angles are even as well.(I have even had hair cuts from the same stylists who worked at the Victoria’s secret fashion show cut my hair but, Fran did a better job!!). I also had a pedicure and manicure here for my college graduation and Laura did an awesome job! What I LOVE is the fact that they do NOT use those jacuzzi jet tubs! This place uses real tubs that don’t have jets and are CLEAN! ((Those jacuzzi jet tubs that other salons use get loaded with toenails and dead skin and most salons never clean them out because it takes too long in between appointments or they just simply don’t know that they should do it! even the salons that do clean them out still cant get all the bacteria/dead skin out and don’t use the right cleaning products! Ladies if those jacuzzi tubs that you put your feet in are not clean you can get an infection in every pore in your lower leg/calf area. Trust me I know this because I am an RN and my mother/family have been in the salon industry for years!!)) Laura gave me an excellent pedicure and gave me a natural french looking manicure which is exactly what I wanted! The foot scrub she used(which they also sell in the salon) smelled awesome and really made my feet soft. I have to say since I have practically grown up in salons and been dragged to salons all over the country especially south jersey, I have to say I have finally found a salon I love. This place has a random group of clients. The people who work there are of all ages. This place is not snooty or over the top(which I’m so sick of). I can walk in wearing yoga pants with sneakers from my workout. I will definitely be back here and if I move away again I’m willing to fly out just to get my hair cut and nails done here!

Franco is an awesome hairdresser and amazing colorist. His assistant Susan gives amazing massages during the shampoo! Love this place. The receptionists are friendly and welcoming and actually remember my name when I come it. Overall — great salon.

With the departure of my waxist, Jen M, and my colorist Marty — I’m not sure how I feel about this place just yet. If I had to recommend someone who is still there for coloring, it would definitely be Stacey. She’s awesome!
