Gets the job done. Come on, it’s an ethnic market, you can’t expect dirt cheap prices AND sparkling clean floors and organized shelves. Just know what you need, know what to look for, and what looks sketchy or not. This is the only place I can find fresh small green chilis and raw almonds, and they also sell white yams which I love. Onions are also cheap here. We stock up on cheap spices(iex: garam masala), sriracha and sweet spicy ketchup, dried beans, refrigerated naan, frozen garlic naans and frozen rotis and have never had a problem with anything being too old. Sometimes we buy snacks, and admit it can be a hit or miss on freshness, but it’s so cheap it’s not worth crying about(Parle-G biscuits!). Heck, I’ve even bought bottled mango lassis and kulfi at the register before and they were decent enough. Just be smart.

Not sure what the heck happened to this store in the past few months. I hadn’t gone to shop here in the past few months. I went back tonight 11/05/2015 and couldn’t find anything I wanted. The stuff was old, refrigerated lassi past their expiry dates. Looked like a lot of shelves were empty and the store just didn’t appear as full as it did during my prior visits. I will not be going back to this store. The service is also awful. The women at the register are like robots, you don’t even get a hello or thank you out of them.

Love this grocery store. Wish there were more like it in this area! Excellent selection of fresh and frozen products along with a large assortment of masalas and such. I would highly recommend!

I’ve tried several Indian grocery stores in the area and this by far is my favorite. They have a huge parking lot so you never have to worry! The store can be overwhelming when you first enter, but there’s an order to the chaos. The fresh produce section can be a little pricey, but they do carry some Indian vegetables and fruits that aren’t at regular grocery stores(i.e. sitafal). I am not sure on the quality since I’ve never bought produce from here. After the fresh produce, there’s a section of Indian style pots and pans. The section is really disorganized and I cringe at the thought of going through the mess to try and find something useful. They have a large selection of spices, snacks, frozen food, rotis, flours, etc. They even carry some indian beauty products(i.e. neem). If you’re in need of anything, they shall have it. I don’t think I’ve ever gone there and not found what I was looking for. My favorite purchases include stuff from their snack section and home made rotis from the fridge. Happy shopping! Good enough since I live close to it. Much better prices and options in Edison, NJ, but that is quite far for day-to-day stuff. Store itself needs a bit of a clean-up but it is generally well-maintained. Decent selection overall of Indian foodstuff(fresh/frozen/pre-packaged/snack etc.)

Please avoid this place if at all possible. Horrible customer service. I mean, it is really really bad customer service. For example, I was looking for an item and I scanned the Isle 3 times. When the lady walked over there, I asked her if she has the item. She rudely replied without even looking at me all the time walking away«See properly, if you cant find it I cant find it» I asked her if she has some inside«She gives me an angry stare and said we do not have anything inside» and walked away. I stood there shaking my head. I was looking for a pressure cooker on another day and the lady was so rude that she did not even want me to see what options they had. She just bought some cheap looking cooker and said this is the only one they have, when clearly all other brands were stocked and displayed for everyone to see. I asked her what the other boxes were and she gets angry and says this is a better brand. Took her 15 mins to figure out the price. A ridiculous $ 60 or $ 65 for a 2 litre, for an unbranded piece of trash. The only reason I kept my cool is the two ladies are elderly. The vegetables they sell are not fresh. Almost everything looks pricy and old. The only reason they survive is because they are the only Indian grocery store in the area. I wish we have more options like in Edison. Store management: Please learn to treat your customers with respect. I have seen your staff doing this to couple of my friends and their families separately as well as other customers. You need us as much you you think we need you. This is not the corner store in India, you are in the US. Please act like it.

This place is A-OK. Not anything compared to the NYC one, the prices are cheaper than your local Desi store but not as cheap as NYC store. Have a fairly decent collections of groceries but lack the staff to support this huge store. The entrance and exit are really small and on weekends the place gets crowded.

This is an excellent grocery store with low prices. You will find the best quality and wide variety of rice, flour, lentils, vegetables from all over the world. They have all kinds of prepared foods of excellent quality. Prices are generally reasonable. Acme is no match for Subzi Mandi. I am shopping there weekly for years. I also shop at Shoprite, H mart, whole foods and other local grocery stores. But Subzi Mandi is the best grocery store in South Jersey. I am sure H mart, Acme and Shoprite want to put Subzi Mandi out of business. I am shocked with the other reviews. These are simply false and prejudicial.

Subzi Mandi is an okay place to get some indian groceries and food items. But it’s not very clean and the vegetables often look wilted and/or bruised. I would only recommend buying the canned and packaged things here. Try the H-mart instead they have similar products and are ALOT cleaner.
